Anyone paying attention to the current sales figures of electronic giant Sony knows that the company has been in the red for the past year. Their Q1 financial report did nothing to buck this trend, and sadly, the game arm of the company is still taking a loss overall. But Sony, in a recent announcement at Gamescom, has a trick up their sleeve, one that may hopefully inject some much needed vitality into their sagging sales, their new cross buy promotion.
The new offer kicks off this November, when Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is finally released. Early adopters who purchase the PS3 version of Battle Royale will receive the Playstation Vita version of the game for free. That’s right, no cheap demo, no simple extended download, but a full, carbon copy of the finished product for their handheld system. Other Sony-exclusive titles will also be included in the cross buy promotion, including Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault, while no other games have been named at this time.
It is pretty clear that Sony is using the cross buy promotion as an attempt to raise sales in both the Playstation Vita, which have been sub-par since its launch last year, and the Playstation 3, which have slowly declined after a large surge in 2009-2010. No other details about the promotion can be confirmed, although rumors have already circulated that it is available to Playstation Plus owners only. Either way, this may be the shot in the arm Sony needs to at the very least promote their game systems. Whether or not this will translate to sales is another story.

Someone is exiting the arena for good.
See Kat and Emmet in action!
Currently, Sackboy is one of the most broken characters in PlayStation AllStars Battle Royale. So to have a little fun, me and my buddy tried to demonstrate this one match while streaming. The following video is the hilariousness that ensued.
The best of the best have come to compete in a no holds barred, free for all, battle royal!
Full reveal inside!
Let’s watch carefully for hints of new characters.
Also, details on the story of PS All-Stars.

How… shocking.

Now we just need Spyro the Dragon.
If this does turn out to be legit, there are some interesting choices here.
Birdman comes out swinging against the last son of Krypton and wants to know if there has been a good Superman game? Oh yeah, happy 3 year anniversary for RAD as well!
I wonder how exactly this will work. Is it a PSN voucher you redeem to download the Vita version or will it be built into the disc and you transfer it to your Vita with the USB wire? I hope it’s the latter so you can delete and re-install at will without worrying about download times/bandwith usage. The Vita memory cards are outrageously expensive for such small amounts of GB so unless you got the biggest one a few titles on there will fill it up fast.
So is this confirmation that Full Frontal Assault will be on the Vita as well, or was that confirmed before?
This does nothing to help my feelings of the Vita being a port machine, but maybe this could at least stop the complaint people have of paying for the same game twice.
that is basically what Sony is promising. If it’s not Full Frontal Assault on the Vita, it will be another Ratchet and Clank game, but right now its fairly vague as to what game it is, only that Full Frontal Assault is a part of it in some form.
Should tick up sales of vita’s a bit
