Not gonna lie: I'm excited.

In case you didn’t know, Gamestop is having a conference in San Antonio, Texas right now. While nothing particularly noteworthy is being announced or debuted there, it looks like someone might have accidentally made the event relevant. That someone works for Performance Designed Products (PDP), a video game accessory company.

According to several sources, a manager from the company ended his panel by casually mentioning that their accessories would be available “just ahead of the Wii U’s launch date of November 18.” He then quickly changed subjects, presumably realizing that he had just signed his own death warrant. PDP has since released a statement saying that they can’t confirm a launch window for Nintendo’s hardware, but there has been no word about the no-doubt grisly fate of the man who let a date slip in the first place. I have it on good authority that Reggie Fils-Aime has a squadron of cyborg attack emus that he sicks on those who displease him.

In other news, November 18th is a strangely believable release date. That would put the Wii U right into the sweet spot leading up to the holiday season, which the Wii also took advantage of with its November 19th launch. Also, Nintendo loves releasing products on Sundays.

A good date for it, but I won’t be picking it up at launch like I did the original Wii, which didn’t have much going for it. Hopefully this has a better launch, but I’m waiting to see if the Wii U has a better game selection than I thought the Wii did.

Sounds logical – right on time for Black Friday, which is later that week. If there’s a better time to release a new console from a business point-of-view, I sure can’t think of it.

As tougakun said though, price is a rather important piece of information that we’re completely missing at this point.

I believe November 18 has been suggested before, possibly by GameStop as well, so for now I’m going to believe that that’s the release date.

The issue isn’t so much as the date as it is the price of the system I don’t remember a console in recent years hiding it’s price so close to release date.
