Reinforcements coming!

Red 5 Studios, an offshoot of former Blizzard employees headed by Mark Kern, is taking in some refugees with good game experience today.

A total of 40 ex-developers from the new defunct 38 Studios and from BioWare Austin have found a new home with Red 5. 38 Studios was Curt Schilling’s former studio, before it was shut down earlier this year in a messy scandal by the state of Rhode Island. BioWare Austin is the studio that has worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, and has recently cut back on their staff.

The 40 new hires will likely be put to work on Firefall, Red 5′s upcoming MMOFPS, which has been in development for at least two years at this point. The game will be Red 5′s freshman debut, and to say the least it’s an ambitious task to be sure. Firefall, according to Red 5, will be a free title and have regular patch updates, although details on how the title will sustain itself, either a free to play model or something entirely different, is still unknown at this time.

No doubt that the new employees of Red 5 will fit in nicely, considering most of their experience is actually working on MMO’s before. Hopefully they can help make Firefall a success once it is released.
