Oh no! It's my worst nightmare!

They did it! They drew first blood!

Did that put you in the mood? You were born a soldier! You’re a killing machine! This is what you’ve been waiting for! A Rambo game! A Rambo game that’s ALMOST GOING TO BE AS GOOD AS RAMBO: LAST BLOOD! BLOOD! RAMBLOOD!

Seriously though, about thirty years after First Blood first bled on the movie scene Teyon Software & Entertainment (developer of Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D) and publisher Reef Entertainment have teamed up to announce a Rambo first person shooter based on First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Pt. II, and Rambo III.

This might be a bit late to the party. Teyon’s promising a whole lot of things though, from cover based shooting, to destructible terrain, stealth kills, knife-play, and physics. The sombre and brooding tone of the original First Blood might be a little difficult to capture in a first person shooter, but they’re going for it as evidenced by the screenshot above that rather obviously depicts Hope, Washington.

Now, we all know movie licenses are pretty rough trade in the video game industry, but some of them are just so horrible they’re good. I’m not suggesting that Rambo, the first person shooter is doomed to fail, but it could be pretty spectacular. Here’s hoping we get some gameplay footage soon. It’s set to come out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

What, no gameplay or anything of actual substance in this trailer? Yeah, just show film clips, that’ll qualify as a trailer for a video game.

What? No Rambo 4 tie-in? Are they holding off for a sequel?

And while we’re at it, can we make a Princess Bride JRPG?

EDIT: Wait, wait, wait. RAMBO 3? Isn’t that the one where he goes to Afghanistan to fight FOR the Taliban?

I’m personally more disturbed by First Blood being included. Sure the cops were dicks, but they weren’t enemy combatants.

When I watched the movie, I felt very confused that it became the macho hero-worship it did. I mean, why should we root for someone who is essentially the Predator in the first film?

He did not kill a single cop during the movie, not that I remember anyway. Why I like Rambo is because he is trained ultimate soldier, but he is also a human wreck with PTSD attacks because of it and what he had experienced during the war. Thats what the first movie was ultimately about (in my eyes anyway), and him kicking douchebag cops ass is just what he thought he had to do when his survival instincts took over. The scene where Rambo finally broke down and opened up to his general was a clearest hint what the movie is about.

I love the first movie a lot because there is actually some idea and message under the surface. It was the Rambo 2 that concentrated on the macho hero aspect with nothing else underneath.
