PLEASE TAKE ME HOME WITH YOU

While I personally think it is safe to say that everyone who wants a Kinect has one, Major Nelson announced this morning that that there will be permanent price drop on the motion-controlled device. The new price for the peripheral, $109.99, will be applied to “North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions” immediately and will occur in Australia and New Zealand on October 4th. There will be no reduction in price for Japanese stores.

While the add-on has received its fair share of criticisms, there have been a number of games worth playing on it. For instance, Dance Central, Child of Eden, The Gunstringer, Wreckateer, Double Fine Happy Action Theater, and Sesame Street Once Upon a Monster are all good games for the peripheral and worth playing. If this is the sale you need to get a Kinect, you should definitely consider picking some of these games up.

If they drop the price by $70 more I’ll think about picking one up.

My mom wanted to have a new console with one of those dancing type games for herself last year. After weighing in the options she told me and my step-dad to get her a Wii for Christmas.

Great, a price drop on something that does not have one decent game for it. :/

So essentially all this does is make people who did spend money on a giant paper weight more annoyed that they could have gotten their paper weight for a cheaper price!

Honestly, even with those titles and this price drop, I just don’t find the Kinect nor the Move worth the prices that they tout. Plus, apart from those games you listed, only 3 or 4 of them look worth it to me and even then they seem pretty short compared to other games in terms of story and longevity. I would have loved to get the steel battalion game for kinect since I love any game involving mechs or robots, but the controls just seem to kill it for me. I find that I would rather save that money to put it towards something like the 3DS since my DS lite needs to upgraded and that the 3DS can play both the DS games that I still have and any new 3DS games that I want (Starfox, Zelda, Ace Combat, and some others come to mind). Also, I’ve worked with the Kinect both at friends’ houses and at parties and the thing just doesn’t impress me.

Just looked up the Kinect to get an idea of what the price was before, because even for a price drop, that’s ridiculous.

Then again, I don’t have an Xbox, so it’s not like this matters to me all that much. I like that you listed some examples of good games, since it means that Kinect has at least some quality titles. How do the Kinect and Move compare now?

“Move what now?” said people who don’t own a PS3.

But in all honesty, Microsoft has gotten worse every year. This E3 I was waiting for them to win my favor back by finally abandoning the Kinect, but instead they desperately attempt to keep it alive. I loved the PS2 but I have been very anti-PS3/PSP/Vita. But even I can clearly see Sony has blown Microsoft out of the water in terms console status at the end of their lives (well, except for Skyrim 360 version). Better yet, Sony did awesome this year’s E3 especially compared to the other two. They even won me over/back.

On the subject of failed useless shoved peripherals, I hear the PS Move sucks, but unlike Kinect Sony didn’t pour billions of dollars into a plan they had to stick with. They can abandon it and not be out as much money.

So screw Kinect to the Atari E.T. Landfills. I’m saving my money for a PS3 so I can play The Last of Us, Uncharted, Journey, The Last Guardian, Ico/SotC collection, and a robust, active, online multiplayer for FREE.

I own a PS3 and refuse to buy a Move. I’m also anti-Vita, but that’s because I’m quite content with my PSP and the UMDs. Sony at least introduced plenty of new games, while Ubisoft kind of stole Nintendo’s thunder, although the less said about Wonderbook, the better.

And yet, still not worth the price….like…at all.

Also you made a spelling error on the word “Permanent”
