El Presidente prepares for the upcoming election.

Haemimont Games, the development team who took over the Tropico series in 2009 with Tropico 3, is setting out to create a new entry into the popular series and they’re starting from the ground up. In an interview with Joystiq Gabriel Dobrov, the CEO of Haeimont, revealed:

“This time we’re wiping the whole game clean and building it from the ground up. We’re starting with a clean design this time and all the graphics will be new.” Dobrov also stated that the game would be “Larger in Scope” though no other details, like what era the game would take place in, were revealed. However, based on how Tropico 4 was released, it can be assumed that Kalypso Media will be publishing the game.

As a fan of the series, I can’t wait wait for more details about the game to be revealed. If you feel the same way, please comment below and keep following Blistered Thumbs for all the latest details on this upcoming game.

Hmm, interesting. I skipped Tropico 4 because it was nothing more than an expansion sold as a sequel, but if they actually do something new this time i may just buy it.
