That right there … is not what I imagine when I think "Succubus".

A new trailer for DmC has been released, presenting some regular gameplay footage of the new Devil May Cry. Among other things, we get to see platforming up cargo containers using some kind of grappling hook and combat involving a few different weapons, although I’m probably most partial to the scythe on display. The trailer also ends with footage of a boss battle against the “Succubus,” although a bit different from the standard imagining of such a creature.

Throughout it all though, I’d say the style of the game is probably the biggest star in this particular case. The rather different aesthetic is noticeable in almost every scene and I have to say that I’m liking that look. Check the trailer out for yourselves below.

Any opinions on this new trailer? Do you like what you see, or is the opposite true? Be sure to comment below with your opinions and stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for more info on this game.

Does it “look” good? Yeah. So did Heavenly Sword, which imo is the worst entry in the genre to date when it comes to combat and controls (Worse than X-Blades).

Beyond the suspected technical failings, Ninja Theory’s attitude throughout the development has been nothing less than antagonistic. Not to mention Crapcon’s record lately. It’s a pairing I don’t want to give a single penny to.

It would be unfair to yourself to not play a game that could possibly be really good, based on some silly preconceptions you have.

Do you have grudge against Ninja Theory or something? I admit that gameplay isn’t Ninja thoery’s strongest sector but they do know how to write characters and story. I hope they learn from the criticisms of their past games and bring out a game that’s more coherent, and l hope that game is DmC.

@ Reikshiryo Then please come up with any justifiable reasons why should anyone give this rubbish a chance other than the lame comeback of “you won’t know if it is good unless you play it yourself” Please people if you are going to argue with those who have more knowledge on certain series,at least try and come up less pathetic attempts of sticking up for developers who haven’t earned the right to be taken seriously.

@ VNV242 Precisely. Who cares a flying crap about the characters and story if I cannot play the damn game and enjoy it. Textbook example. Silent Hill 4 The Room. And Devil May Cry is all about smooth fast gameplay not about government propaganda and trying to be “cool”. And you are saying that Ninja Theory hasn’t earned the justifiable hate with the manner they have been acting?! Good grief.

If you claim that they know how to write good characters and story then how come those games have not sold decently or have been critically acclaimed.

Because they are mediocre hack and slash tribe.

did you just say that Silent Hill 4 The Room has “fast smooth gameplay” lol that’s hysterical.

Didn’t Enslaved get a good rating and been praised for its storytelling and character development? NT are an independent development studio, they only made 3 games so far, you really expect them to be selling like AAA titles. And more importantly: What has sales got to do with the quality of the game? Killer7 is one of the most important video games of our time and it sold like shit.

I admit that gameplay is more important than the writing but its about time DMC had a plot that doesn’t revolve around mundane anime clichés.

When did I ever say that Silent Hill 4 had fast smooth gameplay? Talk about putting words into my mouth. I don’t recall ever saying such a dumb statement. My point is that DmC:Devil May Cry will be exactly like Silent Hill 4 The room; a huge shit stain on a franchise that I enjoy.

It probably did but even so, there are better games that have the complete package and neither of NT’s games have it. Welcome to reality.

And so? Platinum Games aren’t a huge studio either but their games are infinity better than Ninja Theory. NT sucks get over it. There are better developers out there who have their egos under control and let their games and resume do the talking.

What has sales got to do with the quality of the game? Well franchises live and die on sales. Killer 7 also has a lot of problems
and thus is a reason why it sold terribly. I am not denying that sales=/= quality, but it goes both ways.

Devil May Cry does need a better plot that I can agree with but these assclowns are not the right choice and not if gameplay is going to take a giant nosegive. Gameplay ALWAYS comes first especially in a hack and slash game. Otherwise look at Ninja Gaiden 3.

If you want to play a action/adventure game with plot then try the Legacy Of Kain series.

Ok the issue is I don’t like the companies track record in regards to controls. Heavenly sword has clunky sluggish controls worse than devil may cry one even and I just didn’t like it.
Mind you that game looked good too.
In the end no matter what people say “Oh that game looks like it might not be crap!” you have to try it before you can say something. The only thing you can get from trailers is that it looks cool… Which I don’t think it does
Why? Well dmc games have been hard, how many times are we going to see these scripted levels that “Attack” us? At least 2 or 3 on the harder ones if not more.
Dante is just Nero from dmc4 playstyle wise it looks like, And I can’t enjoy the game for the plot because damnit he is just so… Rude, Dante was charismatic and full of himself but even when insulting the enemy it was smack talk not just being a little prick.

Dante has always been a rude cocky bastard though, the only real difference l find is that he’s more proactive than classic dante and it makes sense with him to be like that. With NT’s premise of an demonic Orwellian Nightmare, Dante has to bring the fight to them.

I hate it when people of your caliber keep sprouting out the same tired clichéd crap of “trying it before you can say something” That’s not how things works in a capitalist system. If you me to try out a certain product, then you better not insult my intelligence or treat me like garbage. Which both companies have done numerous times and let’s not even get started on how terrible Capcom are doing both in terms of public perception and financial stability. ‘

What you people seem to be forgetting is that since not everyone lives in the USA and different countries have different laws,in some of them renting is simply not an option nor is buying it used such as Japan. So then there is other choice but to buy it new. But then you run into another huge problem.

If it turns outs that the game sucks donkey nuts, well you’re out at least $60 and you told Capcom that it was okay for them to make a mockery of their own franchise. Nice going there.

And you crying about how hard Devil May Cry is is simply beyond words. Jesus Christ go play Kirky or Mario if you can’t handle it.
If you want to talk about constant frustration, Ninja Gaiden is a series that is much more brutal and difficult. Devil May Cry is not even that hard;you have to learn how to be stylish.

And yet this “Dante” is even more of a prick than the real one since he curses like a sailor, acts like a child and is an unlikable douchebag.

This looks like a great game…so long as I’m not reminded that this is supposed to be Devil May Cry.

In all seriousness, though, it does look like an interesting game and, for what it’s worth, “New Dante” (Nante?) doesn’t look as emo as his debut appearance. Then again, Joanna Dark went through a similar ordeal with Perfect Dark Zero and we all know how well that game was.

I’ll try to keep some tabs on this one, but I’m not expecting much from it.

Meh… I’m pretty sure it is also a dumb down game to appeal to “greater audience”. Any case I’m not buying any Capcom game day one, I just wait for the “Super game of the year edition +3 alpha 7″ to come out.

Because that’s how every Capcom game works. I mean, we had 5 incrementally different versions of Mega Man, Dino Crisis, Okami, Bionic Commando, Power Stone and even Devil May Cry, right?

Well actually there are about 5/6 devil may cry collections that have no difference, soooo and technically Megaman 1-9 could be classified as the same game only with different sprites…

Sure, that’s why I bought Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade edition the other day. Now that they have Street Fighter X Tekken to milk people with I assumed there would be no other DLC done for SF4.
I’m pretty sure DMC will walk the same path so let’s not get too hyped and hasty.

Unless you just happen to enjoy spending hard-earned money on DLC that’s already on the disk and should have been included in the original game to start with.
