Double Fine’s retroactive “Give the PC Some Love” project continues to march along in style. The past year has seen them release both Costume Quest and Stacking to the PC, as well as the soundtrack to their classic platformer, Psychonauts. Today they came to the front with the news that tower defense-ish, mechanized, world war one-ish downloadable title Iron Brigade will be available on the PC come August 13th.
It’s going to be coming to Steam, complete with the DLC “Rise of the Martian Bear” included. That’s not a phrase I ever saw myself as having to write, Rise of the Martian Bear. In celebration, Double Fine has also somehow manipulated their particular brand of wizardry to discount Iron Brigade on XBLA today down to 800 Microsoft Points. Now, I’ve never kicked around the Xbox Marketplace so according to my under-researched conversion rate that comes out somewhere in the range of… seventy rubles? Maybe sixteen shekels? Ten simoleons? Whose ridiculous idea was it to run a store in “points” anyways? That’s not a real currency. I wonder if they’d barter for a bushel of corn and two ducks.
