While many fans make retro versions of modern AAA games after they launch, Gearbox has beaten everyone to the punch with The Border Lands, a top-down, Smash TV spinoff. While the controls are incredibly simple–with z and space to shoot and arrow keys for movement–the variety comes in treasure chest drop which allows you to change the type of weapon you hold. Each weapon has a base style (machine gun fires fast, rocket launchers do area damage) but The Border Lands also has a stat system that determines base damage stats, clip size, as well as other factors like projectile speed, shot accuracy, etc. You also have the 4 main characters of the game (Salvador, Maya, Zero, and Axton) that have different proficiencies in speed, gunfire and total health.
It’s a cool little game and it IS free, so why not try it out once or twice?

If you get a two-way rail gun, never let the baby go.
“Seeing as there is no rest for the wicked,”
Fool. The line was ‘AIN’T no rest for the wicked’, a double negative.
I am well aware of the line, but I kinda hate Cage the Elephant something fierce.
Only song of theirs I like was the one in Borderlands lol
It’s not so bad, though it has alot of little bugs and some of the guns are just broken, as some of them just don’t work and love to shoot in completely random directions. Goofy, but I think it was tossed together abit too quickly lol
And my bad on the random direction thing that I thought was a problem…Apparently that’s a FEATURE. So dumb and pointless lol
