Trying to hide leaked information always seems silly to me. If it leaked, you might as well come out and promote it. Such is the case with SEGA and a Japanese listing for “Yakuza 1&2 HD,” which was unceremoniously removed from their release schedule after apparently being prematurely posted. The listing also revealed a December 1st release date and a ¥5,229 (~$65) price point.
As a newcomer to the Yakuza series, I’d be thrilled if an HD re-release collection was made available. The comedy/horror spin-off I played was a blast, so it’d be great to get my hands on the games that started it all. The Japanese crime drama series is criminally under-appreciated in the states, but hopefully it will start to catch on if products like this are more readily available in the West.
Stay tuned to BT for any future confirmations or localization news.

I was planning on getting Yakuza 2 for the PS2 from Amazon for more than a year now, but always postpone for another time. If this gets a US/EU release, I’m gonna put the kibosh on buying the PS2 version for good.
and I hope they remove the horrible English dubbing from the original Yakuza, I can still remember it.
“STEP DA FUCK UP! IT’S TIME TO DIE!”
I’d be all up in it if it came stateside.
Hopefully they ditch the godawful and unnecessary English dub in favor of Japanese voices with English subtitles like in Yakuza 3 & 4.
Still haven’t beaten Yakuza 3, but I’m very interested in experiencing the beginnings.
What I really want to see is a localization of the spin-off set in feudal Japan “Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan!”. When I was looking up the Yakuza series on wikipedia and saw that such a game existed I was like “Y U NO LOCALIZE SEGA?”
