Good news, everyone! (and I am not saying that in the ironic Futurama fashion either)!
One really has to feel for fans of the Tales series that live outside of Japan. Considering the series spotty track record regarding localizations, the wait for news if a title is going to be released outside of its region of origin can be as tortuous at it is long. Take Tales of Xilla on PS3 for example: despite being first announced in July 2010 and released in Japan in September 2011, Namco Bandai has continued to remain mum regarding the possibility of an English-language version of the game. That is two years of agonizing delay for fans as they continue to patiently (and not so patiently in some cases) wait for the news that will either send their spirits soaring up to Heaven… or crashing down to Hell.
Well today during the second day of the NAMCO BANDAI GAMES Fan Conference came the word that many have been waiting for: Tales of Xilla is indeed getting an English language translation. Namco’s Hideo Baba confirmed during the conference that the game would be “localized for Western Markets”. Namco Bandai then shortly afterwords took to one of their official Twitter accounts to specify that the game would coming to Europe, Australia, AND the United States. There is currently no word yet on a specific release window fro the game beyond 2013. Still, as previously mentioned, Tales fans are used to waiting and at least this time its now only a question of when not if. I’ve been wanting to throw my money at Namco Bandai, and considering the popularity of the Tales series, I’d say that this is a good place to start the series for me.
Thank you! People like you means more sales. More sales means Namco Bandai might get off their ass and release more of these game! Sweet Jesus!
I feel so calm right now
Wow.. what a strange turn.. you start releasing JRPGs on the consoles that people who like JRPGs own.. and your sales go up. Maybe this’ll teach them not to put Tales games as BroshooterBox or Grandma’s First Game Console exclusives in the US any longer.
Insert “Aleluya de Mesias” them here, or Daniel Bryan 15 minute/1-hour “YES!” videos.
Not much else needs to be said. Now to mail order Graces f to entertain me till then.
Well I am glad about this. Graces F still hasn’t seen a release here in good ol’ Europe. I’m afraid Namco will pull another graces on us and release the game 4 months after the US date. Which I still stand by as being retarded, ENGLISH comes from ENGLAND. We should get it first because it’s our langauge. ‘muricans only use it because it brings all the boys to the yard. ENGLAND, FUCK YEAH!
i know there is a Tales of Xillia 2 coming to but didn’t Tales of Xillia have an unsatisfying end because if it is I will wait and get both
Well, guess in 2017 you’ll get both.. if you’re lucky.
Excellent news – the Abyss 3DS release and Graces F release must have been successful enough for them to give other regions another chance, then. Now, maybe if that keeps up we can get them to start planning international releases from the start, so we don’t end up waiting several years after the Japanese release for each title [/wishful thinking] .
My wishful thinking is that we’ll get localized PSN releases of the PSP ports of the older titles like Rebirth and Narikiri Dungeon X
Between this and my getting notice that my copy of School Days HQ has shipped, this has been a really good day so far. Also my reaction to this good news:

This is amazing news! I just finished Graces F recently and I’ve been waiting to hear news of Xilia. Now, let’s hope that Xilia 2 gets a western release and Vesperia gets a PS3 release.
Even if Vesperia PS3 doesn’t get an official release there is a fan translation patch (to be used with a legitimately bought import copy) in the works.
