Troll post in 3… 2… 1….

Yesterday Namco Bandai announced a fighting game called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle at a Japanese press conference. I wish I could tell you more about it, but that’s all I know. Here’s a video:

You’ll have to forgive my ignorance on this one. It’s my understanding that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a cartoon of some sort. Perhaps it’s one of those anime things I’m always hearing about. CyberConnect2 is developing the fighter though, and they made those Naruto fighting games, so I guess fans of that will be pleased. (Please don’t hurt me manga fans, I’m only kidding.)

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle is in development for PS3. No release date or localization information is available at this time.

Give me now, I want to play it, I still play the PS1 game ^_^, its not as easy as today’s fighter, but it was fun and still is, I do hope they keep the main core of the game and buttons, dont be switching it to low mid high and special buttons, cause thhat is making me not play today’s Fighter, everyone fights the same.

Okay, long story trying to be short.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is the second longest running manga series, that started in 1984 on Shonen Jump and is still going on nowadays, on it’s 8th season in the Ultra Jump magazine. Every season has it’s own focus and protagonist, but most of them have an Indiana Jones like adventure involving some member of the Joestar family. It aways have a lot of pop music references, most in the name of the Stands, a kind of “spirit” that follows a person and that is the embodiment of its personality and willforce, and became one of the most famous features of the series since it’s third season, Stardust Crusaders. Also, Stardust Crusaders is the most famous of all JoJo’s season, and the Arcade/PS One/Dreamcast game is based on this season (JoJo also had 2 games on PS2, only on Japan, one based on the first season, Phantom Blood, and one on the fifth season, Vento Aureo).

JoJo’s is, by far, one of my favourite mangas of all time. The story is really well written (well, for the most part… Vento Aureo have some problens since the mangaka, Hirohiko Araki, was having some problens with Shueisha, the publisher, at the time), all the characters are really charismatic, and the fightings have a lot of intelligent outcomes, thanks to the intersting and original powers of the Stands. The reasons that it never became popular here in the Occident, at least I think, are: first, it takes some time for the pacing, specially the first two seasons, and second, the fact that it never had an anime series, except por 2 OVAs series that adapted Stardust Crusaders and a movie adapting Phatom Blood (and they suck a little… well, they follow the manga almost exactly as it is, but one of the coolest things in the manga is Araki’s artwork, that is almost completely lost in the animes…).

I hope that explains something to everyone.

    Holy sheeeeet.

A word for the uninformed: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is also an anime, but what it mostly is, is a manga. A multigenerational 7-part manga about various members of the Joestar family as they fight supernatural bad guys.

    It’s over the top.
    It’s fabulous.
    It’s manly.
    It’s amazing.

And hopefully, so will be this game.
