Nothing can stop the progression of the Walking Dead.

Let’s start with the good news. Tomorrow will see the first episode of Telltale’s critically acclaimed adaptation of the hit comic book series The Walking Dead arrive on iOS. The game is to be priced at $4.99 and will be compatible with fourth generation or greater iPods, iPad 2 and 3, iPhone 4 and above. After purchasing the first episode A New Day, players will then have the option to continue purchasing the forthcoming four episode individually as they arrive on iOS for the same price of $4.99 or to simply reserve the entire remaining season in one go for the price of $14.99. While the second episode of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, Starved for Help, is already available now on PC, there is currently no confirmed date for when it will arrive on iOS.

Even as one game series shambles onto iOS, another is preparing to pack up its instruments for good. On July 31, all Rock Band iOS apps, including Rock Band, Rock Band Reloaded and Rock Band Reloaded for iPad, will be delisted from the App Store. This means that after that date, the games will be gone and users will also no longer be able to purchase DLC for them. Regular iOS Rock Band players may recall earlier this year a message was sent via the app stating that it would be pulled on May 31. That ended up being a mistake but this time EA has confirmed the removal is for real.

The end is nigh.

EA has since posted a Q&A regarding the removal in which they state the following:

EA Q&A
EA’s licensing agreement with Harmonix is ending and as a result, EA is discontinuing downloads of Rock Band iOS and Rock Band Reloaded iOS on the App Store after July 31. If you own a Rock Band game on your iOS device, you can play it, but you cannot purchase new songs after July 31, 2012. You can access your previously purchased songs. If your previously purchased songs have been stored locally on your device before July 31, 2012, they will not be lost. You will be able to restore your songs by iTunes (after July 31) provided you have an iCloud backup. We are sorry, but due to the expiration of the licensing agreement between EA and Harmonix, you will be unable to recover previously purchased songs not stored on your device or not backed up to iCloud (after July 31).

There is no word yet from Harmonix on what plans they might have (if any) in regards to either rereleasing these apps down the line or putting out a new iOS Rock Band game. So if you have been planning to buy any songs for the iOS Rock Band apps (or even just the apps themselves) now is the time.
