How does this keep happening?!

It seems like we can’t go two days without a company accidentally putting up an early product listing. Earlier today the intrepid sleuths over at NeoGAF spotted a pre-order page for Medal of Honor: Warfighter which promised beta access to an unannounced Battlefield 4. In fact, it hasn’t even been that long since Origin last had a similar slip-up. Either this is an intentional type of viral marketing, or it’s impossible to find good interns these days.

Another interesting addendum to the story is that it appears as though Electronic Arts is planning on charging $69.99 for Warfighter, as you can see from the screen-capture above. Said listing has since been taken down by EA, but the damage is done. After the lukewarm reception to the last Medal of Honor, it will be interesting to see how this audacious price point goes over with consumers.

You people know that isn’t the price for the standard edition right? Not that 60 bucks is great for a digital price, but it’s not 70 for the standard which comes with early unlocks and a soundtrack…rather weak deluxe edition really.

Also, this isn’t a yearly release. The game won’t be released till next year, most likely around the same time as the last BF game (Around the time CoD comes out to combat that), making it a two year release window, which is pretty common. I may really enjoy BF3, faults included, and I’m not white knighting for the company, I know they are some greedy corporate dicks, but some of you people need to stop with the knee jerk reactions. “THEY ARE MAKING A SEQUEL TO THEIR BEST SELLING BATTLEFIELD TITLE?! THOSE GREEDY FUCKS!” Come on lol

Hopefully the Battlefield fans are smart enough to stay with the game they enjoy currently even when the fourth installment is released.

I have tried to be objective on EA’s methods. I have, but the only way to be objective is to say they are greedy bastards, because that is the one and only truth.

EA, seriously, all you need is a twirly mustache at this point to complete that evil overlord look you seem so desperate to achieve. How anyone is going to agree to this is beyond me. That had better be the price for a Digitial Collectors Edition with soundtrack and various other goodies, but knowing EA I very much doubt that’s the case. Otherwise I can see this flopping, BIG TIME. And yet another studio being shut down because EA is incompetent.

    $70? Why, of course!
Otherwise it would be really devalueating to their franchises, if they charge less.
They also can’t have something like a sale on Origin! That would simply be preposterous!

Seriously though: Burn in Hell, EA! You disgust me.

$70 hahahahahahaha. I called it. Future of digital distribution right here folks, you asked for it. At least when I blow $70 on a pre-order, I get a disc, a box, and at least a sound-track.

There are some game companies out there that still sell brand new games on disk for 40 bucks. I went into a Gamestop and saw a new game from a 3rd party dev (sorry, i cannot remember the title for the life of me) for 40 bucks. And it just came out.

So, yearly releases. Who’s suprised at this point honestly? EA already names their sports games by year, they should start doing so with their Battlefield games as well. If it turns out Battlefield 4 is 2013 though, colour me suprised. (Probably something like early 2013 though.)

I couldnt agree more. I will murder everyone at EA if they ruin my favorite series. BF3 will most likely turn into a piece of shit so EA can compete with CoD. -_- So expect it to go down hill even though i pray to God it doesnt.

You know that is why they have Medal of Honor right? BF doesn’t need to be more like CoD, cause it simply can’t. It’s teambased, infantry/vehicle oriented, combat, something CoD doesn’t have at all, but Medal of Honor is more for smaller infantry oriented gameplay, so it’s really the direct competitor, despite how much people love to talk about BF vs CoD.
