Ah, Yakuza, such an awesome game, brings back many memories! ^^

I loved the first game, and loved the second game even more, mainly because they’ve decided to keep the dialogue in Japanese with English subtitles instead of English (And to save time and money by avoiding to hire English voice actors).

I haven’t played any of the other Yakuza games since Yakuza 2 on the PS2, but I highly recommend playing it if you really into Japanese culture, especially those related to the Yakuza life style.

I too have become a huge fan of the Yakuza series, ever purchasing the first game, the fighting mechanics are playable, the RPG elements are interesting, the storyline is exciting and the characters are well developed especially Kazuma who has become one of my favorite video game protagonists

Yeah, Yakuza is a great game (and series). To me it sort of represents kind of an evolution of the JRPG. While not full on RPG, obviously, it still focuses on the story and narrative and really delivers in a way that few other games do. Especially in Yakuza 2…damn that was good

It was a pretty good analysis, though I felt it missed a few points like the special moves in combat at least show some more footage of it.

In any case i’m actually a big fan of the series back before the US version was announced friend of mine helped me get the japanese version. And Jap dub is a lot better but the english was also serviceable. Too bad I never got around to playing Yakuza 2, despite having played 3 and 4.

I’m a big fan of the Yakuza series. Its a little long a little hard to get into but once you do its as enjoyable as a really good crime movie.

Great analysis, Justin. I’ve kind of passed over the Yakuza series, but after seeing your review, I’m really considering checking it out.

Oh, thought of another title that might fit a Yankii J Play: The World Ends With You.
