The first episode of Telltale Game’s The Walking Dead, released back in April of this year, was received with both critical and consumer acclaim and quickly managed to become the company’s biggest and best selling hit ever. And its not hard to see why: gorgeous graphics that really put players in the world of Robert Kirkman’s hit indie comic, gameplay that combined the best elements of both old and new school adventure games, and a story that managed to fit perfectly into the larger universe of the series while still being capable of standing on its own. Yes, The Walking Dead got off to a hell of a start, even managing to crack my own personal zombie bias, and the knowledge that four more chapters were coming down the line only excited the imaginations of gamers everywhere as they waited for the story to continue. And waited. And waited. Now finally that wait is almost over thanks to the news that the next episode of The Walking Dead game is due out this week.
Subtitled “Starving For Help“, Episode 2 of The Walking Dead will arrive on XBLA tomorrow, June 27, and this Friday, June 29, on PC and PSN. Well on PSN in North America at least. Yes, unfortunately, once again European PS3 owners are getting the shaft, thanks to Episode 2 as now being delayed in for release on PSN in that region until an as yet to be announced time further down the line. Of course The Walking Dead Episode 2 was always supposed to come out in June but even so, Telltale is definitely cutting things rather close. A company spokesperson said the announcement of the dates comes so late because Telltale had to wait “until all of their platform partners confirmed their publishing schedules.” Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for our full review of The Walking Dead: Episode 2: Starving for Help and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
