These are tears of joy I hope…

The Binding of Issac has surpassed a new milestone, achieving an impressive mark of over 700,000 copies sold, according to developer Edmund McMillen.

The title, following a Zelda-esque gameplay style and filled to the brim in dark symbolism, has been steadily gaining ground on total amount of copies sold through download. The Binding of Issac also received an expansion, Wrath of the Lamb released last last month. The expansion has also been a big success, placing fifth in overall sales in less than three weeks, according to McMillen. A free update, titled Wrath of the Lamb v1.3, that is adding new items, enemies, bosses and other little goodies for fans, including a “hard to attain” ending cutscene that will “shed some light on the games ending even more.”

If any of this has piqued your interest, download The Binding of Issac on Steam today.

700,000? Huh. Well I will say that it is a mature game. It’s not really buy-able in store. And the cover is likely enough to push parents away for their kids.

Bottom line this might not be such a horrible number.

Is this including the voxatron bundle sales? Because if so then this isn’t as impressive as it would otherwise be.
