As far as I’ve heard, you can save your survival mode game by going to a nest without a female. I haven’t gotten the game yet (Play-Asia acting silly, delaying my order) though, so take it for what it’s worth.
The game looks kinda interesting, but I’m gonna need a demo to convince me to buy it.
I am, however, happy to see Sony’s Studio Japan still making games, which reminds me, what ever happened to The Last Guardian? it’s been 2 years since we’ve heard anything about it.
nice review, J-Dub, and THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY much for providing a Blip TV link for this video. ^^
I can’t watch this, no LITERALLY, I can’t watch it!
Every time the points screen first appears and you start talking about vegetation, It stops! It’s annoying! (Obviously this is not YOUR fault J-Dub, I’m a little peeved at Springboard right now)
And you know for some it’s just hard to kill a cat in a game while Sylvester is snoring on your lap. I’m not on the same page, but I do see where they are coming from.
I don’t see why this game would create controvercy since animals have been hunting other animals ever since life started on this planet and evolved into complex life forms.
THANK YOU, J-Dub! I saw this game in the Japanese PSN store a while ago, and I wanted to learn more about it… but I couldn’t remember the exact title. I knew it was Tokyo something…
animal cruelty? its just a game about how nature works. there is no animal cruelty in the jungles and forests of the world. its just nature. survival. that’s it.
so to those who think that this is animal cruelty i present a question, if animal cruelty is a NO NO what about human cruelty ? you know games that are all about killing others and hand shots and tea bagging and all that stupid crap.
i’m just saying its just natural as natural as how humans fight and wage wars. that’s just how it is.
I TOTALLY agree. But I also know humans. I know what people will think… and I just have a feeling someone like PETA is gonna get up in arms about this.
There should be no complaints about cruelty…it’s not like humans are forcing them to fight each other, it’s Survival of the Fittest : The Game. Might as well label nature documentaries as cruel because sometimes antelopes get eaten by lions.
Yes it’s a game and there’s a points system to it, but there’s an interesting concept at work here and in this situation, animals would do what they had to to survive. I’m just glad they excluded the part where everyone’s body is scavanged by their house pets.
One might argue (playing devil’s advocate here, this isn’t my opinion) that the game is made by us to watch animals fight, a bit like in those terrible old “documentaries” where they would put two animals into a disguised cage and keep the camera rolling.
But, of course, that’s bullshit since it’s not even real, so no harm done.
Wow. I was moments away from getting this from the Japanese PSN before you mentioned the planned localization. I love the concept of this; though the execution looked a bit disappointing at first, considering that it is a PSN title, it now looks like a fine action-RPG/sim. It might also have helped me with my Japanese. I can get something else for that, though.
Thanks for opening my eyes with another great review!
So it’s perfectly alright in Pokemon for people to order these creatures to burn, electrocute, mind rape and bite each other but this game is controversial? The only controversial thing I can see is the explicit blood.
And please don’t try to justify it with ‘Pokemon want to fight’. If that’s true then why are there plenty of Pokemon that run away instead of fighting? Why do captured Pokemon suddenly become friends with you only after they’re captured? The Pokemon games are about animals being forced to fight after Pokeball tech brainwashes them.
It’s like a Spore creature stage RPG without creature creation, namely the herbivore/carnivore part and the mating. Looks great, glad it’s being translated I’m just going to have a tough time fighting kitty cats and cute little doggies, hyenas and leopards screw those guys, but not wittle doggies.
YES! That’s it. People will be concerned for the wittle doggies and puss-puss-kitties. It’s odd. What’s the difference between a survival action game with you shooting enemies and animals fighting to survive? People will see a difference.
I actually cut a lot of exposition from this review on the subject. Glad to see I’m not alone in thinking this game is ok on the subject matter.

I have the exact same problem, it seems like its at the same point as well
Cool game o bad it’s PS.

This looks like “The Last of Us” but with animals.
I’m getting it as soon as it comes out in english

A pomeranian taking out a boar?
Nice review.

And, as always, thanks for liking the review all.
