For some reason, I can’t get it to work, but I can get the others to work for me.

The problem with the original endings for Me3, they intended on making people buy the additional DLC for better endings. They made promises, gave something that was contradicting what they promised, and were going to make their fans buy what they were suppose to give them.

That is why they had to do something. Trust me, if not for the threat of losing their License, they would have ignored the fans. The fans wish they had any say.

The extended/director’s cut ending was released free of charge to anybody who bought the game.

The way you guys described that Playstation All-Stars game made it sound like a cross between Super Smash Brothers and Thrill Kill.

I’m not sure gamers are necessarily impossible to please, but rather because it’s so easy to get your opinion out there, you will always have SOMEONE complaining or wanting more because there will always be folks who are looking for just one thing and will whine if they don’t get it.

so, y’know. You can’t please everyone, but you’ll always hear from everyone you didn’t please.

I don’t think you will need to worry about other games being changed in the way ME3 was in the future. one of the reasons people were so upset and angry about it was because Bioware promised multiple varying endings that reflect on how you played; and well they didn’t deliver on that, but from what I have seen and heard about(mostly from Angry Joe) they did fix those problems. So as long as game companies don’t promise good or differentiating endings they won’t feel the need to change them if fans don’t like them, or at the very least they can’t have people filling FTC complaints about it.

Also I looked into King from Tekken while listening to this and can confirm that they, The original King(Tekken 1), the Second King(Tekken 2-present) and Armor King, are indeed NOT Jaguar/Human Hybrids, but just wrestlers wearing masks. I was a little disappointed to find this out.

Dead Space 3 needing 5Mil. to survive is complete BS, they are simply being greedy. They likely be reusing stuff from the past games like the engine and voice actors, so there is no way in hell that it costs that much. At least Capcom is just predicting RE6 will make 7Mil. and honestly I wouldn’t doubt it seeing as it is a big franchise and that RE5 made over 5 million dollars.

To hit on the issue of voting with your dollar – I think you brought up an interesting point Leon.

If people don’t buy a game on release or for full price, or even at all; as you said, companies like EA are more likely to say, turn on the used games market. If gamers or people are entitled & are never satisfied, game developers rarely have any sense of accountability with regards to their products.

If they release a game and it does poorly? Blame the used game market. Your shoddy port didn’t sell well on PC? Piracy. Maybe they blame a poor review score that was ‘unjustified’ that hurt their sales, or maybe like in the case of the next installment of the Dead Space series, they blame the customer base for not buying enough of their product to even make it worthwhile.

If companies continue to just run their status quo without holding themselves liable for releasing quality products on budget & gamers voted with their dollar, there’s a chance that a studio so poorly run would go out of business. Look at what happened with 38 studios – They go for a giant blockbuster title with a huge budget on credit, and it undersells & the entire studio goes under. I wouldn’t feel too bad for the developers themselves; I remember at one of the big layoff fests at EA, many former colleagues either got jobs with other gaming studios or started up their own; these are talented people that were working on a ship filled with holes & they’ll do fine elsewhere.

In summation, I agree that it’s important to vote with your dollar. The developers can blame anyone they want, but if they don’t execute properly or understand why titles sink or are unsuccessful, instead of cursing easy scapegoats they should really learn something about an ever fluctuating business model. Their success or failure is on them, and not anyone else.

I remember when Gearbox got savaged on the review scores for Duke Nukem forever, and their excuse was that reviewers just didn’t understand that it was supposed to be old school.

It never occured to them that old school shooters allowed you to carry more than one gun, and didn’t try to be clever above their means.

I think you guys are over-reacting to the fact that Bioware gave into Mass Effect fan’s requests. I originally thought all the bitching over the Mass Effect 3 ending(s) came from the same type of fans who whined about the size of Sonic’s legs in Sonic 4 and I think the fact that one of them filed a suite to the FTC over the manner was idiotic, but when fans can make a 20 PAGE Google doc describing all the things in the Mass Effect universe the ending(s) contradicts I think there is some validity to their complaints.

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QT4IUepvrU1pfv_B95oQj0H84DlCTUmzQ_uQh1voTUs/preview?pli=1&sle=true

I don’t want developers to always change their games in order to appease every stupid thing fans complain about, but fan feedback and changing endings that clearly didn’t work can be a good thing. And the comparison between the Mass Effect 3 controversy and George Lucas CGI-iffying his old films makes no sense. Lucas consciously altered his old works without any push from fans, in fact most Star Wars fans were outraged by the alterations he made. If anything that works as an example of how much better off a franchise would be if the creator had listened to its fans.

Also thank you for recommending The Perfect Host Leone, that film was pretty entertaining. Would you be offended if I said you look kind of like Warwick, but with less hair?

trying to talk to fans about the whole issue is like trying to talk rationality to the annoying pony fans. No one wins in the end

How? I’ve seen many fans rationally talk out the criticism they have towards the endings, the document I gave a link to is proof that they’re at least somewhat willing to constructively explain their issues with the ending(s). It seems almost insulting to both sides to say that there is nobody willing to rationally talk about the issue.

Zelda fanboys shoud STFU. How many Zelda games and re-releases you want? And we are talking that CoD or Asscreed being constantly grubbing money and ripping wallets and when Reggie brings something cool from the past like Pikmin people turn 180 and desire good ol’ Mario, Zelda and Kirby. I can understand Reggie now…
