Long rumored to be true, today we finally have a confirmation that Zone of Enders 3 is currently in development under Kojima productions.
The project is a sequel to Zone of Enders: The 2nd Runner, and actually will take place in an ancient civilization over a futuristic setting. What that means is anyone’s guess, perhaps we will see giant mechs fight each other in Victorian England or Ancient Egypt (something that is more likely if you ask me). The game is also being rendered on a new game engine known as the Fox Engine, a cross-platform design that Kojima Productions has developed. It is also rumored that Zone of Enders 3 will be made for next generation consoles, but that is currently unconfirmed.
Kojima Productions is already working on a HD re-release of Zone of Enders and 2nd Runner which is due out later this year. So to announce the third game in the series after such a long time will no doubt generate some fan affection for the cult PS2 titles. Hopefully we hear more as time goes on, but for now, we can take solace in the fact that it is happening, and is already in development.

Fox engine? Isn’t that the one that Kojima showed off as a tech demo last year? Both in an interview at GDC and that very weird picture of a lovely lady wearing a transparent top?
