Minecraft Xbox 360 Review, 10.0 out of 10 based on 1 rating ![]()
Guru Larry and Ian Higton take a look-see at the Xbox 360 port of Minecraft.
It’s not quite as good as the PC version, a lot of the customization has been removed (for example you can no longer design your own character) and the rather exorbitant price of 1600 points makes it one of the most expensive XBLA titles ever, just because they know everyone and their mother will buy it!
For the hardcore Minecraft fans, Some common questions I’ve received…
There is some slow down unfortunately yes!
The shading is quite good, you can see in the video of the candles reflecting off the mountain.
There’ll be regular updates for it, but it’s all controlled by Microsoft, so only MS approved stuff.
Multiplayer is a synch, you have the option to make your room online from the beginning, then just just invite people from your friends/party menu.
Draw distances aren’t brilliant. but it’s not too bad.
Hunger bar has been removed, no one liked it.
But thanks for reading everyone, BRB Birthday ^_^

Oh minecraft..
Once the novelty wears off and you run out of people to show off your house to you burn your house or other peoples houses down until you realize:
“Wow…that got boring EXTREMELY fast………”
You’ll probably get 100 identical comments, but if you don’t want spiders & skeletons to spawn in your house, put up more torches or glowstone.
I don’t own an Xbox. Will Xbox players be able to make & distribute mods & texture packs to eachother?
No.
This gen of console companies would never allow mods even it were possible, without paying for extortionate DLC.
Only on hacked firmware consoles .
Who’s tops are you going to look down? Squidward villagers or hermaphrodites shaped like refrigerators?
For Xbox….interesting
All those monsters spawned in your home because it was too dark, monsters spawn in darkness, need to put more touches up.
I’m quite interested in this but I’ll have to wait until August to pick it up. Money is tight saving for ConBravo. lol
That smile on cartoon Larry’s face… it… it just stares into your soul. O_O
Just add two giant ears and it’ll pass as a decent Deadmou5 helmet. And why does cartoon Wez look like a manlier Freddie Prinze Jr.?
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen those images, but it’s the first time I’ve commented on them.
Also, as an idea for a Larry Minecraft project, you should try recreating Green Hill Zone from the first Sonic game, or copy Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation and make a giant gold statue dedicated to your… “honor”.
I haven’t been following the news of the 360 Minecraft but I was hoping that the 360 version would have stuff uniquely different than the PC version. Like they could’ve added paintings which display achievement icons you’ve earned from any games and stuff like that. Well Notch and crew uaually aren’t the kind of people to sit on their laurels, I’m sure they’ll keep adding stuff, and it’ll probably be free.
For people who can’t play on the PC for one reason or another, I’m glad there’s an alternative to default on if they want to play Minecraft but just can’t.
That said, the lack of character customization is jarring, and the fact that people will not have access to the PC version’s mods may be the reason why people will STILL prefer the PC version over it, because mods is the primary reason why Minecraft could last so long, because they can make an entirely different game out of Minecraft.
P.S. If there’s gonna be DLC that you have to buy, I’m gonna be piiiiiiiiiissed
Well I’ve been told there’ll be regular updates which will include some DLC. But hopefully any extra content will be free, especially considering it costs 1600 points to buy!!!
That, and custom/adventure maps.
Here’s another question, does the multiplayer have the commands and whatnot? You know, stuff like “/give Guru_Larry 46 1″? Also, can you prevent other players from killing each other or messing with each other’s houses?
According to the Minecraft Wiki, the current version is based on Beta 1.6.6, so it’s not like the hunger bar is “removed” per se, just that it hasn’t been added yet, like sprinting and Creative Mode. I do wonder how the updates will progress as time passes, though, like if it will skip most/certain updates to get to the more game-changing ones?
