In another MMO Grinder spinoff show, Chaos takes a quicker look at the simpler browser based MMOs out there. This time, it’s the highly requested “Realm of the Mad God”, a flash based retro fantasy MMO shooter.

ChaosD1

An avid MMO player (not expert. There's a difference) Jon "ChaosD1" Burkhardt is best known for MMO Grinder... Unless you're from TGWTG in which he's that guy who drinks Mountain Dew, collects Jigglypuff items and shows up to scream how things don't work that way in Phelous's videos.

MMO Grinder Browser-Based!? That’s a mouthful, not to mention too much like an entire description rather than a title. Consider the smooth double entendre available it seems more odd:

    MMO Browser

Fun game, but not one I can get attached to.

I never liked how massive groups of people can just form a giant train of death and power level themselves. It really takes away from the feeling of achievement of hitting max level and unlocking new classes, and instead makes it feel more like you’re going through the motions with no risk of failure. Then again, playing that way is optional.

I also remember how some bosses can be quite powerful, and kinda force you to keep your distance to avoid their bullet storm of destruction. This forces you to keep an eye on your character to avoid bullets, your eye on the map to make sure where the boss is cause more than likely it will be off screen, and then shoot in the general direction and hope you hit it.

Hey, this game does look like a nice timesink.

I’ve also been wondering if you heard of a browser based zombie MMO called Dead Frontier, I’ve played it for a while and it’s very well made. I just wanna know your opinion on it.

I’ve been playing for a little over a month, and I only just got my first Amulet a few days ago. By the time you’re able to get one, you might have a character worth using it on.

Seeing how much that cost, I HIGHLY commend you on that achievement. Is it permanent? I’d freaking hope so…

It’s permanent as long as you don’t die while wearing it. If you do die, it returns you to the Nexus safe and sound sans amulet.

I wish the game would let you redefine your control keys.
Even most ZX Spectrum games let you do that.

It does, when you are in the Nexus click the wrench next to your name and you can change any of your controls. It’s a good idea to change the ‘Escape to Nexus’ key to something easier to hit.

The Realm of the Mad God?

I’m pretty sure Sheogorath of the Shivering Isles might have a thing or two to say about that!

I never made mention of this because I couldn’t think of a place to put it… but while I find the name of this game very strange and not very telling of the gameplay, I have to commend them for not naming the game “Pixel Knight Blasterz” or something equally insipid.
