DANTE AND KAT MEET. NOT QUITE A MOTOROCYCLE THROUGH THE OFFICE BUT…UH, I GOT NOTHING
Today, Capcom has revealed the North American and European release date for Devil May Cry; January 15th, 2013 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, with a PC release happening later that year. The game will be translated and voiced in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. The Game will be featured at Capcom’s E3 booth, so you can be sure that we here at Blistered Thumbs will keep an eye on any developments surrounding this game, which has earned much ire from gamers since its first announcement.

Also revealed was a character named Kat, who will be assisting Dante in his quest. Outside of the fact she wears a hoodie, has a star on her forehead, and carries a scroll on her back, no real details about her have been revealed.

I really wish to know why anyone still foolishly has any hopes of this turning out any well considering all of the negative controversy Capcom has been into as of recent memory. Hell and I apologize if this may offend anyone but not even domestic abuse victims are this gullible. Capcom is dying folks. Time to move on and accept it.

For God sake guys get over it. This attitude you are displaying shows a message to publishers. To keep doing what everyone likes. It’s people like you who make publishers think that trying something new will kill them. If anything you’re being a bunch of spoiled brats who aren’t getting what they want. The game isn’t even canon it’s basically like a spin-off type game. Yet you won’t shut up about it. For God sake, what are you 4?

I agree with you in some points… I’m a big fan of the DMC franchise, and I’m not mad because they’re making a change and I can’t stand it, I’m mad because this game is called DMC, when it clearly lacks the previous games’ soul.
I’d be completely fine if this game was called something else and had nothing to do with DMC, actually I’d even be willing to buy it (not full price though)! But that’s not the case, at first it was a reboot, then it became a prequel, now you say it’s a non-canon spin-off, hell, I just don’t know what the fuck this is anymore…!
I think I’ll play it sooner or later, and I believe I might enjoy the combat very much, but how things are till now (and I doubt they’ll change) I think I’ll enrage at the story.

I don’t like the new design, I don’t like the look of the gameplay I’ve seen, and I don’t like the numbing
inevitability of Capcom charging me for DLC for the game.
More than likely this will exist of downloading the original look for Dante for around £5.
However, I will give the game its fair chance. I’ve seen plenty of other games I thought looked terrible and they have turned out great. I’ll play it and then decide what my opinion of it as a ‘game’ is.
Sadly, even if they did add the old model as some DLC skin.. it doesn’t resolve them completely rewriting the backstory of the character just cause they could.
I’ve said this before to the people who bitch about the bitching, but just imagine if in the next Halo game, suddenly Master Chief was a male prostitute before becoming a space marine? The game is exactly the same, but MC’s armor is ass-less and occasionally they mention how he used to fondle old men for a living. The game is essentially the same, but the character has been drastically changed for no reason other than them trying to attract a different demographic.
That’s what Ninja Theory has done. Instead of making a new character or even a new IP, which would have prevented ALL this dissension, they just redesigned what they already had because that would give it more name recognition.
They’ve added nothing else “new” as far as anyone can see. They merely butchered a well established character cause they could when they should have been bringing something else to the table that actually mattered. THAT’s what the industry should be doing, Reik, not re-skinning existing characters cause they’re too lazy or inept to make something new.
I pray for the future of the industry if “Oh I’ll just eat shit cause it’s better than eating nothing at all, stop bitching, at least you have shit to eat.” is the mind-set of the consumers.
I’m less upset about the character, I can live with a bad story with good gameplay (Bayonetta) and hope for them to resolve this later. What I am worried about is the combat mechanics themselves.
Like Ninja Gaiden 3, it would appear a skill focused hack and slash has gone all button bash and hope for the best. The Heaven and Hell weapons sound like a terrible idea and it looks like style over substance.
Again, I’m going to reserve judgement for when I play the game, but things look bleak.
I was directing that comment more towards the haters who would comment rather than the article.
Also, Sylveria, the only thing I’m mad about is the sheer amount of flack that a change generates. Also your comment about Master Chief being a male prostitute is actually completely different from the scenario at hand. You see this Dante is a new Dante, not the old Dante with some stupid new backstory added on, this is a different Dante in a different universe. Also the new Dante has actually been changed quite a bit to make him more similar to the old Dante, but you don’t care about that do you? You just want your locks of silver hair back.
Also I’d like to point out that the game isn’t even out yet, judge the game after you’ve played it. If it turns out to be utter crap than I too will join your side. However I will ALWAYS defend Developers and their products until we can safely judge the game the only way we can by playing.
I will continue to bitch about bitching because bitching brings nothing unless you can back up your bitching from experience of playing the game.
And if you don’t like that, well you can fuck off.

mad at Dante’s lack of silver hair and his new looks. I have posted links explaining why the fans have plenty of reasons to be upset.
Dante’s redesign is just the tip of the iceberg.
No matter how much changes they add to make him more similar to Dante,he will never be accepted.

Not a good argument for you see once you buy or rent it,you have just told Capcom that you are okay with it. And in the case of renting it first,that doesn’t work if you live where that is impossible or illegal such as in Japan.

So first the character designer designs the new Dante after himself, and now the female lead looks like how I imagine his dream girl would look like, some new age goth chick in a “mysterious and alluring” hoodie.
Somebody cancel this game and convince Capcom to just convince Platinum Games, where most of the original DMC team now works, to do a DMC instead. We’ll all be very grateful for it.

I may not be as mad about Dante’s new look (though I do somewhat dislike it), but I hope the combat is more brutal than ever.
