Diamond Trust of London is a 2 player strategy game developed by indie game maker Jason Rohrer. In his first major distribution outing, Rohrer attempts to simulate the Angolan diamond trade in the late 1990's, where bribery, theft and espionage are your weapons to secure as many diamonds as possible for your team. Play against friends and see if you can navigate through the lies without being burned yourself.

Being funded by a kickstarter, will include 1,000 numbered copies of the game.

Gotta get that money ready…

A long time ago I did a quick profile of Jason Rohrer, an independent game developer who has received great accolades for his very imaginative titles, including the acclaimed Sleep is Death and Inside a Star-Filled Sky. Rohrer was also developing a new title, his first “mainstream” game called Diamond Trust of London for the Nintendo DS, a two-player RTS game about the Angolan diamond trade in the year 2000.

Well, Rohrer and his title have surfaced again, and this time they are going the same route as Tim Schafer, and Brian Fargo. Rohrer has put Diamond Trust of London up as a kickstarter campaign, asking for a minimum of $78,715 to get the project off the ground. Basically this means the game is complete, ready to ship and ready to be distributed, but it just needs that extra kick to pay it forward. The good news for Rohrer, the kickstarter stands at $76,549 pledged with five days to go. So it is looking like Diamond Trust of London will be another kickstarter success story, if only just.

If you feel like donating today, check out the kickstarter page in the sources below. Most of the rewards have been filled up, but you can still net a copy of Diamond Trust of London for the typical DS price of $35.00 donated, or maybe spend $50.00 for the game and the soundtrack together.

Update: Today, the kickstarter has officially reached its goal of 100% funding. So congratulations to Rohrer and to all of those who have purchased a copy of Diamond Trust of London. There are still three days left in the kickstarter if you want to push some extra money their way still. And look for Diamond Trust of London to be released in the coming months.
