Shinji Mikami, the designer behind many popular games, such as the Resident Evil series and and the Phoenix Wright series, has talked about his initial effort at his newly created studio, Tango Gameworks. Codenamed “Zwei,” the game is the first Mikami is taking an executive director role in since Vanquish was made back in 2010 and will apparently be a return to survival horror.
Mikami stated that he wanted to make the most rewarding experience he could for players and felt that survival horror was where he could make one such experience. He also says that he is very happy with his current arrangements as the groundwork for the game is made and although he does not know for sure, it’s very likely that the game will be coming to HD consoles.
On a personal level, I’m quite excited to see where this goes. I’ve been a fan of nearly all the games Mikami has directed, definitely including Resident Evil, so seeing him return to survival horror has got me very interested. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for any future news on “Zwei.”

Count me in, cant tell you how long I’ve waited for a new survival horror IP.
Resident Evil and Silent Hill aren’t nearly as fulfilling in their modern iterations.
Zwei! is also the name of a Nihon Falcom duneon crawler RPG on PC. I know that has nothing to do with this game but I thought I’d mention it. You know for lolz.
A retail-priced, current-generation, console horror game that is actually scary? Here’s hoping this isn’t too good to be true. Also ‘Zwei’ apparently means ’2′ in German. Does that have any significance?
Maybe in a Resident Evil “spiritual sequel” fashion.
I hope he finds what truly is survival horror. From those images, it looks like a dark, empty town. That’s pretty haunting.
