Just fully announced a few days ago, Project X Zone is already high on the list of must play games for many people the world over (myself included) owing to it being a strategy game featuring characters from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and SEGA. And in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Namco Bandai’s Kensuke Tsukanaka, the game’s producer, along with Capcom’s Tatsuya Kitabayashi and SEGA’s Yasushi Yamashita unveiled some key details regarding the game along with a bunch of screenshots to help further fan the flames of excitement.
In the course of the interview (a translation of which has been provided by Andriasang), Tsukanaka states that the initial idea for Project X Zone came from Bandai who first approached Capcom and then SEGA for discussion regarding collaborating on the game. While 2005′s Namco X Capcom did serve as inspiration for Project X Zone, Tsukanaka made it clear that Zone is very much its own standalone game hence the decision to give it a completely new title. While it was confirmed that the characters involved would have all the classic moves a player would expect from them (such as Ryu’s Shoryuken fireball, X’s X Buster, or Kite’s Data Drain to name a few) Tsukanaka also alluded to the idea that some character (such as Ulala perhaps) might fight in unusual or unexpected ways.
Additionally, Tsukanaka made it clear that the current character list for the game (which can be found in our previous story about Zone here) was not final and that there would be other playable characters featured in the game, including a number of optional hidden combatants. While unwilling to go into real specifics about Zone‘s combat system (stating that such information would be coming some point down the line), the three did confirm that the game mostly revolves around teams of warriors fighting together but taht there also would be some exceptions to this. Some of these potential exceptions can be seen in the screenshots below:
The interview wrapped up with the promise of trailer debuting sometime this month along with a statement saying that Project X Zone is currently fifty percent done and is being aimed for a 2012 release in Japan. No statement was made either way regarding the chances of a English version of the title. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of the game and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

What makes a game truly great? Join me as we look at some of the titles that changed the industry for good and ill. This is Game Changers.
meh…
SANGER ZONVOLT!? SANGER ZONVOLT AND DOT HACK IN THE SAME GAME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
DASDSSFAJBDASFBAJFANSDJFASD FJA SJDF
…This game will convince me to buy a 3DS. Kingdom Hearts almost did, but this…you got my full attention.
And then my brain exploded (brb, getting revived):

Don’t ya mean Megaman Legends 3. *:D face*
megaman x and zero is in this game…
might be willing to buy a 3ds just for this BUT…
chances of this coming out in english… not very likely (tho i really hope it does)
Glad to see .hack characters, but I am quite disappointed to not see Kazuma Kiryu anywhere, lol. I can only hope/pray for an english release because since the 3DS is region locked, we importers are screwed.
Heres the odd thing, the 3DS can still play Japanese DS games. Tested it with the One Piece game. AND UK games…tested again with One Piece.
Screw a guide I will buy a game twice if its released in English.
Really? No region lock on the 3DS? Good to know!
please note that i tested DS normal games. I have yet to test 3DS games on the system.
So Short.
3DS is Region locked to 3DS games. This is what is said to be truth.
DS games will all work on a 3DS. UK/JAP/USA. They will work on the 3DS if its a normal DS game.
X and Zero, Dante, Kosmos, Jill and Chris. man will I be be bitterly disappointed if this doesn’t come out here.
Valkyria Chronicles 3 characters? I really hope this comes out over here.
DMC1-style Dante teaming up with Demitri. Please, oh please, oh PLEASE say that this means Bayonetta will team up with Morrigan (even though I don’t even know if SEGA has enough pull on Platinum games that they can request their characters).
That aside, I hope so very, very much that this game makes it over here. I live for cross-overs like this, and still weep softly that I could never get the chance to play Namco X Capcom.
Do i see a tales character there and Megaman X?
well there goes our chances to ever see an English release
MEGAMAN!!
What the? Irving too? must get >_<
Could this be the greatest game we’ll never get?
Is that Zengar Zombolt from Super Robot Wars in that one screen? Heh that would make sense since I think I heard Banpresto is involved with the game.
Duh doh dah dee….Dot.Hack? IN here? Wha….
Oh Sonic, where art thou?
Probably he is one of the hidden characters they alluded to.
