An HD collection of the original Ratchet & Clank PS2 trilogy has just been announced and Blistered Thumbs has all the details you need to know.
Believe it or not, this year marks the ten year anniversary of the popular Ratchet & Clank series and Sony is celebrating this fact by prepping an HD collection of the three PS2 games staring the intergalactic duo that started it all. This collection will include the original Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. This of course is only the latest example of Sony taking advantage of removing the PS3′s backward compatibility functionality by releasing HD collections of their popular first party PS2 games. Previous collections in this vein have included God of War, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and most recently Ico & Shadow of the Colossus.
The Ratchet & Clank Collection with included fully remastered versions of all three games, in both 1080p HD and 720p stereoscopic 3D, with the conversion processes being handled by the developers at Idle Minds (most famous perhaps for the PSN exclusive Pain), who where handpicked by Insomniac Games for the job. In addition to full trophy support (that includes three platinum trophies), the collection will also retain the online competitive multiplayer from Up Your Arsenal which never caught on in the way it perhaps deserved thanks to the game being released in the days when online console gaming was still in its infancy. Check out a number of screenshots from the fully remastered versions of the games below:
Pricing and an an exact release date for The Ratchet & Clank Collection remains pending, though a Fall 2012 release in the US and Spring 2012 release in the UK and Europe were confirmed. Stay tuned to Blistered Thumbs for continuing coverage of this collection and be sure to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

WTF! No Deadlocked? >8(
they better have plans for a second R&C HD collection, cuz Deadlocked was awesome, and so was Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank. but Deadlocked is the most important.
This pleases me in way you best not think to hard about…
So I’m not the only one who’s had the terrible slow-mo and audio-visual disparity?
For the record, Jak & Daxter is actually the most recent of the collection, but I’m sure you meant that and only phrased that sentence just to list the various collections.
I’ve been anticipating this collection the most, second only to Kingdom Hearts. I don’t know why not enough people have pointed out the lack of Deadlocked, so I’m curious if there’s really not enough room for all four games. However, my favorite is Up Your Arsenal anyway, so I’m looking forward to that.
TOOK THEM LONG ENOUGH
I’m glad this is coming out. The few R&C games I tried on my backwards compatible PS3 didn’t work right. They ran in super slo-mo, like constant bullet-time.
I only have one thing to say: It’s about time!
This is perfect since the only PS2 one I still own is the original. It’ll be a great way to celebrate the big 10 for the Lombax and his trusty robotic friend.
Here’s to another strong 10 years for Ratchet and Clank.
No deadlock? Sad face.
