I’m not going to lie, I’ve never played any of the Lego video games before. That’s most likely going to stop when Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes releases. I had they opportunity to get an extended look at the game last week at GDC. This ain’t no Arkham City, but that doesn’t mean this won’t be a game that’s a ton of fun.
The basic set up for the game is that Lex Luthor has teamed up with The Joker and the two are wreaking havoc on Gotham City. While Batman and Robin are formidable adversaries, the two will need to enlist the help of the Justice League to put a stop to the madness. A number of new superheroes are available as playable characters, including Superman, Green Lantern, and more.
Of everything that was shown, the main concepts the developers wanted to showcase were teamwork and versatility among the heroes. Batman and Robin each have a variety of suits that are used with puzzles in interesting ways. For example, Batman has an electricity suit that allows him to pass through hazardous areas and hold an electric charge. He’ll then be able discharge the electricity to power machines, solve puzzles, and more.
Lego Batman 2 also has a number of firsts for the Lego series. Instead of gestures, the characters will now be voice acted. While the voice cast isn’t announced as of yet, you can get a taste of it in the trailer. Additionally, the game will now have mid-level saves, due to its expansive size. Parents are sure to be fans of this feature. Lastly, the game has an open-world aspect, as you’ll be able to fly, walk, and drive around a fully-populated Gotham City.
You might not think about this when considering a Lego game, but it looks rather impressive. The lighting and detail really help the game pop. Overall, I have to admit that I’m rather impressed with this game. I can see myself playing it in short spurts on my PS Vita now and again. The game has a tentative release date of this summer and I highly encourage you all to give it chance when it releases.
If you have further questions or comments on the game, be sure to leave them below and I’ll to answer as many as possible. Thanks!

Kind of wary after Lego Indiana Jones 2 of the open world but ill more than likely buy this
Voice acting in a Lego game? That’s going to be pretty cool in and of itself. I can’t wait to try this out.
“the two will need to enlist the help of the Justin League to put a stop to the madness”
The Justin League? Beliebers going up against the Joker? Sounds awesome!
Oh yeah, and their motto is “I will never say never!” I’m not supposed to say, but Usher also makes an appearance. But shhhhhhhhhh =X
They also confirmed the Bieber Lanterns, they even have their own Lantern oath:
“In Campest Day
In Gayest night
I will quiver at evils might
and wet my pants from intense fright
Beware my cowardice
Bieber Lantern Shite!!!”
Its probably best to mention that the Bieb Lanterns hold the power of “Cowardice.” Imagine a HD remake of Lester the unlikely for SNES.
The Bieber Lanterns can easily be identified by their Elton John style outfits and their plastic glittery power ring. The lantern is shaped like soiled underwear.
If this game is as good as it looks and has the same voice cast as the Justice League cartoons as it has Luthor’s VA (Joker’s an understandable and obvious exception but hey the new VA sounds similar enough), then I am definitely getting it.
You can’t pluralise “Lego”, Lego is Lego. Like Sheep or Deer.
“Color” doesn’t have a “u” in it, but you silly Brits stick one in there anyways. We’ll just call it even
Besides, Legos actually IS the plural…in German
Thaaaaat is not entirely correct
“Legos” is a colloquial expression.
The correct plural is “Lego” or “Legosteine”.
