It appears the folks over at Destructoid were able to navigate Famitsu’s Japanese-only site and snag a screen and some details about Persona 4 Arena fighter Labrys. As you can see, she’s a gynoid wielding a giant axe, more or less as we had been led to believe. The only other detail we have at this time is that she “is a student council member at Yasogami High (the high school Persona 4′s kids go to) and joins the tournament in an attempt to get Teddie to shut it down.” Click that hyperlink up there to see the the Dtoid write-up and some blurry Famitsu scans.
It appears that Japanese magazine Famitsu has published quite a bit of news related to the Persona series of Shin Megami Tensei spin-off titles. Although I do not read the language, Siliconera was kind enough to provide the gist of the stories. I’ll provide a quick summary here, but feel free to pop on over there for their excellent coverage as well.
The first big story is that the second half of Persona 2 is apparently being re-released on the PSN. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment originally came out for the PlayStation in North America, but it is a pretty rare and expensive title. Since Persona 2: Innocent Sin recently made its English debut on the PSP, it makes sense that Atlus would use the opportunity to give franchise fans a chance to finally own the whole set for a reasonable price. In fact, with Persona 4: The Golden coming out for the PS Vita, Americans will finally be able to have the entire lineup of Persona games on one handheld.
The second bit of news concerns newly renamed Persona 4 Arena. The Arc System Works fighting game will reportedly be featuring a brand new character from neither Persona 3 or 4. Named Labyrs, the female fighter is reported as “a mecha girl,” presumably along the lines of Aegis from Persona 3. No further details are available at this time, but speculation is rampant. Is she exclusive to Arena? Is she a character from the upcoming Persona 5? I’ll let you know as soon as it becomes clear, but don’t let that stop you from putting forth your own theory in the comments below.
