To be fair, I suppose that e-mail should read “I’m getting e-mails from Tim Schafer now, but so are tens of thousands of other people who decided to become backers of his kickstarter project.” That doesn’t make it any less cool for me though.
Since over 55, 000 people decided to commit to giving their money away for a game, many of them have paused for a split second to speak rationally to themselves along the lines of: “wait, I don’t even know anything about this adventure game yet. I don’t know what platforms it’s going to be released on, what sort of DRM it’s going to contain, or whether or not it’s going to be pro or anti soft cheese. Should I really do this?” At this point, an irrational and overwhelming feeling of adoration for Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert’s back catalogues surges forward and doubts are washed away. That doesn’t mean that Tim isn’t interested in addressing the concerns of these *crazy* people who are more interested in ‘knowing things’ about stuff they might ‘spend their money’ on. So DRM, languages, platforms, voice acting? Come with me on a magical journey through the internet, to the video I’ve posted below:
Uh-oh. I don’t speak Efigs. I hear it’s going to be the definitive version of the game to play, too. Seriously though folks, with a budget now eclipsing 1.9 million dollars, and twenty four days left to become a backer, it seems as though something from the depths stirs… something ancient and powerful… something… ADVENTURE GAMEY.

If I back can I get a Tim Schafer love pillow? I have needs…
I’m reminded of what happens in a simcity game when you give someone way too much funding; They start paving roads with gold and putting coffee machines in buses.
(Game development has plenty of expenses though, so overfunding isn’t really a concern)
Overfunded? As if.
People want this game to be Psychonaughts 2 and for that game to be made Tim has said it would take 20 million to make and sadly I don’t think that’s overfunding as he said the last psychonaughts was that price to make.
It’s not exactly irrational to back one of the most unique if not one of the greatest game designers of all time.
Already a backer. Perchance this will act as some sort of revival of the adventure genre?
One can only hope.
