Diablo 3 Shifts to a Q2 2012 Release
Those of us hoping for an early 2012 release for Blizzard’s long-awaited sequel Diablo 3 are going to have to wait a little longer.
Bobby Kotick, head of Activision/Blizzard, says the much-anticipated dungeon crawler’s should be released sometime within the first six months of 2012. In a presentation by Activision it can be seen they’re targeting a Q2 release for Diablo 3 (featured in the image above).
So looks like we’re going to have to wait a while longer. We’ve been waiting over 10 years for this sequel, why not wait a little while longer I guess.
Information Emerges About The Last of Us
What’s one of the few things most of us remember from the Spike Videogame Awards back in December? If I took a vote right now I bet it would be the game trailers.
One trailer caught my attention above all else. One which flashed the name of one of my favorite developers from this generation: The Last of Us.
Not much was known about the game beyond being an obvious survival game in a post-apocalyptic city starring a man and a young girl. Thanks to interviews done by Game Informer magazine we now have more information about the game.
The Last Of Us takes place 20 years after a fungal outbreak destroys society. What’s left of humanity is confined to military-controlled quarantine zones. These zones are under extremely strict laws, if broken you could either be banished from the quarantine zones and left to your own doom with the infected or executed by the military.
Our protagonist is Joel, the 40-year-old man seen in the trailer. He’s an emotionally-broken black-market dealer who lives on the edge when it comes to moral boundaries.
Joel is tasked to smuggle a young girl named Ellie (the same girl from the trailer) out of the military zone she was born in. In the events leading up to their departure the military exiles Joel from the zone, leaving him no choice but to never return.
Both Joel and Ellie seem to develop a father-daughter type relationship as they travel the infected world in the search for a rumored safe haven outside the rule of the military.
Like I said before, I love Naughty Dog. Both Uncharted 2 and 3 are my two favorite PS3 games. This group knows how to write good scripts, very believable characters and invest gamers into the world. I can’t wait to hear more about The Last Of Us and I’m dying to see what gameplay will be like!
