The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Andriasang reports that the original Soul Calibur will be arriving on the iOS App Store come Thursday, January 19.Though pricing is as yet unconfirmed, the arcade classic will feature all 19 characters as well as multiple modes of play including arcade battle, time attack, survival, extra survival and practice, as well as a museum viewer.

A return to the series’ roots this close to the release of Soul Calibur V may be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to whetting the appetites of series veterans, and perhaps newcomers to the fold might be interested in seeing where the tale of souls and swords began. Pricing is unconfirmed so far, but as we have less than a week to wait for the answer, I will be keeping an eye on the App Store this Thursday for more details.

I’d try it but I unfortunately don’t own an IOS product because I refuse to pay £300 for a phone.

I’m not sure how i feel about having a fighting game with no tactical feedback at all. As long as it’s not to expensive i’ll probably get it.

I’m actually curious to see if this was pulled off in a successful manner. If they manage to successfully have an arcade fighter on a touch screen I will be very impressed.

Points for ambition.. putting a fighting game on a touch screen is a daring venture. Question is, did they pull it off.
