Strategy RPG Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition is still a Japan-only release as of this post, but I’m still lapping up every detail about this game. Pokémon Tactics, guys. Pokémon Tactics.
Thanks to various translators around the web, I’ve been able to ascertain that the protagonist is the kid with the Eevee, but that you will build an army of generals who each have their own unique mons and abilities over the course of the game. For instance, some grass-types will be able to extend ivy with which you can traverse certain parts of the environment. For a more comprehensive look at the characters and pocket monsters that will be in the game, head over to Bulbapedia, which, on a side note, was blacked out along with Wikipedia yesterday in a show of solidarity.
Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition will be coming to the Japanese DS in 2012. No plans for an English version are extant at this time.

Well, if we know one thing, Pokemon games always get a fan-translation. So, it’ll get over here, proper release or otherwise.
this is the stupidest concept ever…
if Stupid means awesome… no seriously, when they announced it I was like ”that the fuck” but the more I’ve heard about it and the more I think this can be extremely awesome. it’s adding the little spice of maturity a pokémon game lacks. I’m looking forward to buy this.
This is kind of awesome. I had a similar idea as a kid, but with Pokémons and Knights. Good enough. Let’s throw money at the screen!
Nobunaga just trade his shot gun and broad sword and demonic awesome armor and cape from sengoku basara with a high level pokemon.
btw it seems just stupid to have pokemon crossover with Japan sengoku history. Why fighting with pokemon if you have your trustworthy samurai sword and guns? I dunno man, it just seems like developer are running out of ideas these day. Old pokemon fans are gonna be disappoint since genre is like turn base strategies instead of choose which attack you want your pokemon to perform in order to get THE SUPA EFFECTIVE text?
What fresh hell is this? You got your strategy game in my Poke’mon. I got my poke’mon in your strategy game. All I know is, I WANT THIS. I haven’t played a Nobunaga’s Ambition title in the past, but at least it’s poke’mon using a different battle system that’s seemingly geared towards more hardcore gamers like myself.
Do more crazy stuff like this and continue your series with more gameplay changes and story intensive content like Black and White and you may regain me as a Poke’mon loyalist yet, Nintendo.
Anybody else disappointed to find that this has nothing to do with our own Nobunaga?
