Looks like this years Magfest was a blast. Almost all my favorite internet celebritys were there, i wish i was there too.
God dammit I wish I could have fucking been there… because if I was able to go that meant that I would have a job… and money.
Hey sweet, there are other people out there that can’t see 3D. I’m partially blind in my right eye, so my field of depth is drastically changed by the output… While I still can drive and do other normal functions, seeing 3D is not happening ever. I hate that so many systems have thought of this as a gimmick to make a game feel more immersive, but if it becomes the leading form of production from the majority of publishers, I’m boned. And I’ve been a die-hard video game friend for over 2 decades now. This would suck… I’d have to you know, do something else? Like get a life or something?
3D sucks balls anyway, it doesnt look that impressive and hurts to the eyes. And i saw Avatar in the cinema, so that says allot.
I have to give my thanks to Stitch on a very important question he answered: I am one of those people who cannot see 3D effects at all. As a matter of fact, I can’t really see 3D effects IRL either, and I hope that 3D gaming does not become the standard, as I’ve been a gamer since the Atari 2600, and I’d hate to have to give up one of the thing that defines me.
Just to understand what you are saying RedFox. You mean that you have no depth perception? I’m not saying this to sound rude, but that is all 3D is, enhanced depth perception. If you lack that function I would be more worried about basic daily functions like driving around and anything that requires hand-eye co-ordination. If that ISN’T the case, then I highly doubt 3D gaming would really affect you, you can ignore it for the most part because its really just enhancing something that is already present, as far as I’ve seen it’s not a requirement in games that support it. I for one choose to play without 3D when given the option because it’s too straining and its pretty pointless, because what is presented looks perfectly fine as is without adding an enhanced third axis of viewing. Once again, my opening statements are NOT meant to offend you, I was just thinking out-loud on your comment and people’s concerns. Granted I’m not an expert on 3D vision either so maybe there’s a piece of it I’m missing, but I’m pretty sure it’s just depth perception.
I indeed have no depth perception without glasses, and only very minor depth perception with them. because of this, I do not drive (major pain in the butt), but seeing as I’ve never had the ability to see depth, I’ve learned at an early age to adjust to not having it. As to Hand-eye coordination, it doesn’t solely depend on depth perception, you know. reaction time and finger dexterity both fall under the term, and I have no problem at all with those things. I think the term you were looking for was spacial relations. And yes, I do have problems with it at times.
Yet all this has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Regardless of my vision problems, as Skitch has said, there are people who cannot see 3D effects. There is an estimated 3 to 5 percent of the the US population alone that cannot see 3D effects, and another percentage of people who get physically ill from the effects. These people would not be able to enjoy video games if 3D becomes standard. And the fact that Skitch brought that point up is what I am thanking, as one person who falls under that category.
I’d also like to apologize for messing up his name, a typo that I didn’t catch in time.
I was too tired to brain. But it was a fun time, and I loved everyone on the panel. The audience was amazing and appreciated for waking up that early to listen to us babble on. =)
We Love you Roses!
Great panel, everyone. I know you were all tired and such. It was still classy!
It was nice seeing Chris at the panel. I miss his DS reviews.
The MAGfest Blistered Thumbs panel. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
We must be cautious.
Exactly
Psshh. Rollo T could do that by himself, he doesn’t need the rest of the group to accomplish it.
That guy second from the left really knows what he’s talking about.
Truly, the Buster McGoogoocluster of video game panels, that guy.
