I really want to get into these RTS games but they never seem very. Colorful. I know that technically has nothing to do with the gameplay mechanics but come on. The games LOOK boring. If they looked a little more imaginative, had a real sense of character, and really streamlined the design for the un-indoctrinated this genre might have some legs.

As it stands it has very niche appeal and this game looks no different. It’s exactly what it should be. But it needs to be more than that.

If you are talking only about FPS I get your point, but RTS itself is a dying genre. Since the last 5 years, there are only 3 notable RTS came out. Like Starcraft 2, Total War series, and Dawn of War series. Its a dying breed. Plus, King Arthur series is very unique. The only game that is similar is Heroes of Might and Magic. Can you name any games that has both RTS and RPG elements? Just in case you are misunderstanding, RPG doesn’t mean it has fantasy or history stuffs in it. It is about customization, playing a role in involving story. Just because there has been games like Lord of the Rings RTS and Warcraft, doesn’t mean King Arthur 2 is rehashing stuffs. Maybe it looks similar to your eyes, but similar visuals doesn’t mean it’s ripping off something. Listen to what Joe says in the video and pay attention to every details that set appart this game from others.

My biggest problem with King Arthur (the first one) was that it crashed constantly you were going ahead fulltime and then WHAM it crashed and all your saved games where useless.

Hopefully this will be corrected here.

A mix between strategy and role playing game sounds pretty much like Heroes of Might and Magic. But I get the feeling that it’s different from that. Like the real time battle. Recruiting heroes sounds similar, but I’m not sure if they can roam around the map collecting items, resources and abilities. If this game captures the feeling of HoMM, then I will buy it, but I’m hesitant to do so.

I don’t think I’m going to get this game. Even if there are some mechanical improvements, I really don’t like the direction the series has gone with. The Romans and the dark, gritty monsters… that’s just not what I think of when I think “King Arthur.” It doesn’t help that I found the original game only “meh”, only enjoying the Welsh DLC campaign. Maybe it’s just that I got too used to their admittedly overpowered Welsh Archers, but I just couldn’t get used to the Saxons, and the main story campaign felt too restrictive. I really feel the game would’ve been better if you could play as any of the various kings, engage in diplomacy more, and everybody had unique units by faction. It just really bugs me when strategy games have a set protagonist faction stealing the show (like Napoleon Total War).

It’s been awhile since i’ve played a solid RTS, as long as my crappy computer can handle it i might pick this one up. Like you said it looks like total war with magic….sold.

Question, is it dark fantasy as in Berserk (storyline, themes) or as in Dragon Age (slightly gritty design)?

Also, is Arthur Welsh in this series as in the actual legend, or English as the common misconception?
I dislike the presence of Romans, as they supposedly had left around the time the legend takes place (and you don’t want to associate yourself with that dumb movie, right?). Ironically, I am actually not that much against the depiction of plate armor in this period (probably due to Excalibur and Fate/Stay Night).

Then again, I probably shouldn’t try to base my opinion on realism and accuracy, as much as gameplay, which time will tell. Not too shabby so far though.

A thumn down? Really? If you dislike my comment, why don’t you tell me on what point in this case? It’s an info dump more or less, why would you even bother?

Is this common in Blistered Thumbs? It seems people are getting downvoted randomly. I’m sure they have their reasons, but if thats the case why don’t they just address it? Practice of downvoting seems like a kind of trolling.

There WILL always be downvotes, no matter how well you construct your arguments. In fact, this one is likely to be downvoted because I pointed that out.

Also, I was hoping this would come out a little while later. Damn you New PC Savings Fund!

I loved the RPG parts of the original, but the combat just felt kind of meh to me.

It look like they’ve improved on that, so this one should be a blast.
