My God...This man is suffering from boredom! Nurse Joy, get me some 30mlg of direction and a room in the trauma ward. We're going to have to operate! I'm afraid this man needs some linearity or he might not make it through the night. I want a copy of Final Fantasy XIII in this mans hands in the next thirty seconds now MOVE!

<3 <(^_^^_^)> Now now, that's you're opinion on whether or not a wide open sandbox game is fun or not but quite a few people seem to disagree with you so shouldn't you just accept that that's you're opinion and not a fact? There's a big difference between the two ya know. Opinions are how you feel. Facts are cold hard truths that are incontestable. If you don't like Bethesda games or massive open worlds where rather than having a forced direction you choose your own path, then these games are obviously not for you so you should probably stop buying them but again, that's just my opinion. However, quite a few people enjoy it and I don't think it can be called 'shit' if such a great volume of people are madly in love with it and enjoying themselves so much.

So they managed to completely screw up their game in such a fashion that it displays exactly the same problem as their last game, in a completely different way? That's an even more impressive show of complete incompetence.

"Bethesda is gonna patch in the ability to go up to 4GB, so that’s fixed that."
There's been two patches since the silent patch that INTRODUCED the issue. That will 'be that' when it's actually that, and not a moment before. Besides, why did they introduce it in the first place?

"I’m curious if you’ve even played the game on the PC Hotcakes, or if you are just going by what some others have said."
It's much easier to dismiss me instead of acknowledge that - as Shade said - not everyone has the same smooth experience. Actually in this case it's more a case of Shade not knowing wtf he is talking about, because the keyboard binding problems are 100% reproducible (at least on v1.1).

"I’ve played just about every Bethesda game on the PC, without any major issues."
Good for you. Fallout 3 still crashes before the menu screen for me.

"If not for the problems people say they experience, you can’t tell me it’d not be worthy of standing with the best this year if not the one to take the title itself. "
Technical issues aside, the game is boring as ass. A solid improvement on previous games in the series, for sure, but it's still just randomly running long distances with nothing to do. The game is the epitome of busy work made to appear like a full game. Even the main quests literally send you from one end of the map to the other. It's pretty pathetic.

I've also not run into any of the bugs you have mentioned. As for the 2GB limit, Bethesda is gonna patch in the ability to go up to 4GB, so that's fixed that.

I'm curious if you've even played the game on the PC Hotcakes, or if you are just going by what some others have said. Like Shade has said, not every single person have the same problems.
I've played just about every Bethesda game on the PC, without any major issues. No game ending bugs, no real crashing, nothing.

That was not a comment from Bethesda themselves. It was someone who worked on Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda themselves have since commented, and said that's not the reason for the PS3 issues.

I've yet to encounter a single one of the problems you just listed. My keyboard works just fine and the game runs pretty smooth without any solid complaints from me. The problem is you're subjecting this to one persons experience when it's quite clear the experience of Skyrim has varied with each individual user and the problems they have faced. I've faced little to no trouble so far so I can easily say GOTY. If not for the problems people say they experience, you can't tell me it'd not be worthy of standing with the best this year if not the one to take the title itself. And since I've had no such problems, yes, I can say it is.

The PS3 version of the game is unfit for sale.

From http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-does-fallout-nv-lag-explain-skyrim-issues:
"It's an engine-level issue with how the save game data is stored off as bit flag differences compared to the placed instances in the main .esm + DLC .esms," Sawyer explained, referencing the database files used by the Fallout 3/New Vegas engine, which remain in place in Skyrim."

So Bethesda has known about this problem for 3 years and not only did nothing about fixing their existing broken product, but allowed the problem to remain in their upcoming title, knowingly selling a new broken product. This constitutes fraud in my book, or in the very least a bait and switch. Most sensible countries have basic consumer protection laws which overrule any stores 'policy' on returning a faulty product.

If you're a PC user and still accept this as GOTY then you've been subjecting yourself to shithouse AAA releases for far too long. Game breaking keyboard binding bugs, horrible UI to the point where you're better off using a controller and now the 2GB RAM limit is just rubbish. Arkham City is clearly a better contender for GOTY on PC and I don't even like the gameplay in that. At least it works.

That said, the fact Skyrim even boots on PC without crashing is a miracle, given Bethesdas' history.
