MMO Grinder Sidequest is a quick look at MMOs I wouldn’t normally review, be it through limited trial accounts, or Closed Beta games. First up, it’s the oft requested Star Wars The Old Republic.

And the weekend begins Thursday now too!

At the Star Wars Guild Summit there was a video shown to the attendees that detailed the upcoming 1.2 Mega-Patch. Finally, after much waiting, comes the actual clear and HD version of that video…

Last week saw EA and BioWare’s investors receiving a few updates on their many investments.

After a highly successful launch and almost first month in service, the time for the

The Disciples of Hatred and it’s Roleplayers Contingent take on some PvP in the Star Wars: The Old Republic Beta

What’s in the SWTOR VIP Lounge??

Are you ready for some hot click-spamming PvP madness?!

Announcing the first gathering of the Disciples of Hatred during the Beta Weekend Stress Test! …and of course that silly Jedi Consular progression video too.

Your questions FINALLY answered! What are the best aspects of the game? Why this MMO than any other? Do we get to kill Jar Jar? All this and more in ToR Q&A #1!

Much like the Jedi, you were deceived. I was in the beta test all along! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The official Star Wars: The Old Republic forums have been updated with a new post from Allison Berryman who has written that the beta invites for the third beta weekend for SWTOR are being sent out to hungry fans everywhere…

Back from the Con, and it’s time for more Star Wars goodness! Bring on the trailers!
Bonus question – Can someone record the face of Darth Joe when he finds out he can play a Sith Warrior with two light sabers, or a Sith inquisitor who can get the Darth title.
I beta tested on one of the weekends and got a Bounty Hunter and Sith Inquisitor to around level 15-20. I don’t think that TOR does enough to change the MMO formula to really convert people that aren’t MMO fans already. However, if you like traditional MMOs, TOR was very polished and stable when I played it and that was in early October. The story is as vital to the experience as they made it out to be, I’m not sure if it’s quite on the level of quality of a Bioware single-player story, but it adds that drive to see how your character develops that is usually absent from MMOs, where the main driving force tends to be loot.
What are the specs of running SWTOR? I have a good custom PC, but I’m wondering if SWTOR will be too much for my comp to handle it.
Based on how much you’ve played the past betas, will SWTOR be friendly to both old and new MMO players? As someone who never played a MMO game, I fear that I will get lost and end up dying real quickly.
The game can run on low end machines too just look at the min requirements the vid cards they list are at least 3 years or older
My question: What are your favorite aspects of the game so far?
Do you find any of the companions interesting? How many companions does each class have and do they share any? Do they have any impact on the overall story?
I have been a Beta tester too for this game and I would have to say the voice acting is a big draw to it since it helps you connect more with the people in the world and the overall combat is fast paced and smooth and there are always plenty of quest to do I never once had to grind outside of killing X enemies for certain quests.
Two questions.
For someone who has largely had no real interest in playing MMO games so far, is this a game they should or shouldn’t think about (either as a Star Wars fan or not)?
For Star Wars fans, is this something that they should/would/could enjoy? Would it be something that makes you want to fall in love with the series once/even more? Or does it leave you with a taste of burnt Jar-Jar in ones mouth?
No spoilers with this, simply just wondering in more general terms.
In my experience (yes, I too have been in beta), this is a game any fan of Bioware’s single player games would enjoy, as it basically is a multiplayer Knights of the Old Republic with a real time battle system.
And as to Star Wars fans… weeeell, let’s just say no Star Wars story has felt so Star Wars since Knights of the Old Republic, which managed to feel more Star Wars than the prequels. So you should be good if you like games with story AND Star Wars.
Without spoilers of the story, does the focus on a heroic style of play apply to the Sith plots as strongly as the Republic?
If allowed, a second question, do the base and advanced class compete well for potency for PvE and PvP play?
Thanks for this opertunity.
My question:
In your short time with the game, how significant were the decisions you made in your story and how much of an impact did you feel they will make down the line.
My Question:
Are we going to torture and destroy all of the Spoony Ones forces (including himself) or are we just gonna beat them into submission?
My question:
Is it the best game ever?
Note: If you answer anything but yes I will call you a WoW fanboy and ignore everything you say.
My question:
What would be your primary reasons to play this game over any other MMO?
