Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie!!
If you happen to visit the website for The Old Republic anytime soon, you’ll notice a few things… none the least bit one would mark as “positive” but nonetheless amazing. Over the past day the SWTOR.com site has been up, down, under service, back up and all the way back down again more times than you can count. They’ve even had to disable and remove the “Sign In” button on the website to allow them to handle the traffic that’s been hitting them today. And why’s that? Because they just announced pretty much everyone’s getting a beta invite.
Yes, that’s right, if you’re just as obsessed with The Old Republic as most of Blistered Thumbs and the rest of the internet seem to be, you’ve already received your e-mail and have likely been wrestling with the site all day. According to the team at SWTOR.com they will be sending invited out to everyone who has signed up to beta test the game before November 11th. They’re doing this for “Stress Testing” their servers, and I don’t think anyone can deny that right about now, somewhere in their offices, there’s already a panic developing.
With twitter updates concerning the outage occurring every few minutes, the team is staying on top of the problem, but you can bet that there’s a scramble beginning right now to prepare themselves for the coming stress-tests, as this might well be the first indication that EA and SWTOR could break servers in half with how popular the game is likely to be.
So check your e-mails and choose your side! We’ll see you in The Old Republic soon!

Angry Joe shares his SWTOR Beta Gameplay impressions as he creates his Sith Lord, engages in combat as a warrior and partakes in joyful prisoner torture!
Playing the beta now. Wish I could tell you all about it, but you’ll soon see for yourself. This game is FREAKIN’ AMAZING.
I played 15 hours straight yesterday without taking a single break and now I woke up only wanting to play more. Play levels 1-12 and you’ll agree. WoW is finished, it is done, there is no chance. Game over for Blizzard. Bioware’s turn to rule.
The hype was true, all of it. If anything, there was not ENOUGH hype. Even the counter-hype was wrong: the graphics are GORGEOUS! This game is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It’s already polished to near-perfection and it’s still a full month away from launch. I will see you all on December 20th.
Update: Stephen Reid posted a FAQ on the invites that went out yesterday confirming everyone invited yesterday is for a future Beta test they have no date for, not this weekend. Sorry folks.

I Have requested to join the guild, and i will try and get this game, for chrissymas…for i want to kick the ass of the person you call…..The Spoony One
No beta for me
(
you just play skyrim insted then
Oh dw, I AM playing Skyrim, andit it glorious.
Except gragons seem a bit on the wak side. Especially in comparison with Giants.
But still, I have applied for beta over a year ago.
Got an invite, and then the SWTOR site went down. F*$#!
Site is back up, go for it!
Well, I got an invite, but it seems to be for the Beta Test that is later this month (which will also be the last beta test before the game according to the site) so, not having to deal with the outage. I have a friend who got in this weekend, but he’s being an arse and not even talking to anyone right now.
I don’t think you’re alone. I suspect the invites that just went out are all for a future test, not for this weekend. I got invited to this weekend, but I got my invite around Wednesday. My wife got an invite Friday afternoon, but her’s doesn’t say when it takes place, just a “future test.”
I’m in the same boat with the beta test. Got my hopes up that I’d be in this weekend but without any sort of specified times I don’t really see the point to the e-mail. All it says is “This is an email to tell you to watch your email for eventual beta access”. So, why even tell me this? Just send me an email when I can access the beta section to download the client. I doubt I’ll miss that email. BioWare is just being a tease at this point.
