Am I wrong or were these riddles used in Baldur’s Gate II? Can’t remember the exact location though….

The thing with this game is that they tried to pass a Diablo/Baldur’s Gate DA kind of game for a Mass Effect/Dragon Age-like RPG,and that’s where they failed. Lootlust game like those are better played in an isometric top down view.

honestly, i had a lot of fun playing it with a friend. looting and leveling is always addictive. but i guess it’s far less entertaining going solo.

I don’t like when video games have riddles. Not because I dislike riddles, mind you, but because you are ALWAYS presented with multiple choice options that ultimately boil down to a logical process of elimination that is easy to answer. Riddles should be about processing it in your head, figuring it out on your own. Just once I want to see a riddle minigame where you have to manually type in what you, the player, have concluded instead of picking from a list of stock responses.

Closest to this I’ve found is in the classic NES game Shadowgate. There’s a sphinx about 2/3 through the game that asks you a single riddle (it pulls one randomly from a pool of riddles). To answer you have to find the object somewhere in the game that the sphinx is referring to and present that object to it (a smart, or at least well-informed player was already collecting every random item they came across up to this point). I thought it was a pretty ingenious idea for the time. :3

Dang straight about the timing. After Arkham before Skyrim, right in the middle of two heavyweights with a game that’s nowhere near as anticipated. I doubt it will be long before this game is bargain bin material and it looks like it deserves to be there. Looks like that other co-op hack and slash that came out recently just with the LotR license.

Interesting game. I thought about buying it, mostly because I’m a LOTR fan. But I went for Skyrim; seems more engrossing, not to mention more ‘North-y’ feeling. But I really do like the local co-op. My husband and I play together alot; and there are not many local co-op games. So I’ll likely get the game after Skyrim gets worn out; probably around May of next year (lol).

Watching you guys playing this, I have to say that it totally reminds me of the old Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance series (except in 3rd person instead of isometric). Mediocre or not, I enjoyed those games, so I have a feeling I’d enjoy this one, too, particularly for the co-op play. If you guys have played any BG:DA can you comment on that?

It should remind you of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, since it’s done by the same studio that did the first one (as well as both Champions of Norrath games.) Anyone coming to it not looking at it like one of those games will probably be disappointed – but anyone who loves those older games will probably love this one too.

Well, that was disappointing. I was really hoping for RPG set in the LOTR universe rather than some average hack and slash. I would get Skyrim but I am saving my money for Arkhum City when it comes out on Steam.

    Great work, as always, Joe.

I gotta’ ask, though. Have you recently changed anything about the video streaming software or something? Because, since that SW:TOR duel you had with Spoony, these videos lag for me during especially hectic moments.

Strange thing is, no other videos lag for me.
