Set 300 years after the events in Knights of the Old Republic (and featuring some familiar faces), Star Wars: The Old Republic will put players on either side of a massive war between the Republic and the Empire. In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players will explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their personal story and determining their path down the light or dark side of the Force. Along the way, players will befriend courageous companions who will fight at their side or possibly betray them, based on the players` actions. Players can also choose to team up with friends to battle enemies and overcome incredible challenges.
"The Jedi Consular? Hah! Stop healing and fight me!"
I really should just start calling these things the “Meet the Consular” or the “Meet the Warrior” videos. Yes, that does mean I’ve been playing too much Team Fortress 2 laterly, but hey it’s free to play now. However I’m not so sure I like this one in comparison to the previous class videos, but that would be for each of us to decide…
I’m not certain, but something about that video just seemed… rushed… to me. The voice acting was alright and they showcased the Consular to be a more support based class who still isn’t a slouch when it comes to melee or caster-based combat. The video does what it “…says on the tin” but something about it irks me still.
It could be my oppressive Sith-ly tendencies, or perhaps that the Consular in the video happens to look like an old associate of mine, or it could just be that I’m an evil soulless bastard that enjoys watching the suffering of mankind as a window into the soul-… alright, alright I spare you the melodrama. Ha Ha Ha, what do you think?

Angry Joe shares his SWTOR Beta Gameplay impressions as he creates his Sith Lord, engages in combat as a warrior and partakes in joyful prisoner torture!
An eccentric millionaire bent on world domination, or at least trying to find happiness and ponder the existentialism-… oh who are we kidding he's just an evil eccentric who wants to take over the world while having an amazing time playing whatever games strike his fancy. Known amongst the Blizzard community as "The Dreadmist Man".
I think the moves the Consular has are just very bland. It was all just variants of Force Push, and the AOE effect looked a lot like the Sith AOE Lightning, ported over for the Consular to make it fair. But I’m sure the mechanics behind them are much different.
In terms of a video though, it did seem very weak. They could’ve embellished the importance of healing an ally for example, by making the person he healed do something life-saving afterwards. Instead he heals them after the fight is over, and it cuts to a completely different scene. Boring.
What I appreciate about the video is that the support and healing system is more than adequately displayed. I tend to play a Healer in MMOs, so this is the kind of information I personally look for. Most of other videos show in the forefront such great displays of damage; this one is unique in that regard. ^_^ I like it. I was planning on making a Healy-smuggler, but I think I’ll make a consular too. But then again, that usually the point of these videos. lol!
I think what makes it feel off is the animations. They came off as… kind of sluggish and a bit non-fluid. Everything else seemed alright but that what it is. maybe when they recorded it, they used an older version? I don’t know.
Even though I’m more the dark side type of guy, i actually like this one. And it made me wanna play a consular. I don’t know. The forums seem pretty split on this one, some thinks it’s one of the worst, and a lot of others think it’s one of the best. I personally think it’s one of the best.
But I’ll stick with my Sith Warrior – Juggernaut – Immortal for now. Might do a Consular as my 4th alt.
I think my class order might be something like this: 1. SW 2. IA 3. SI 4. JC
Epic music at the end there. BTW Jedi Counselor, what’s his special ability: to help you work out your anger management issues? I guess the Sith *ARE* an angry bunch. In that case Joe, you could really use a Jedi Counselor.
I understand that this comment was supposed to be with a pinch of humour, but in case you are serious then their thing is that they are very good with the force. Pretty much your RPG caster(but they can tank so dont expect a stereotypical squishy high damage force flinger)
The counsular looks like I think you would if you wer taller and of more muscular build Xd.
And was it just me, but those moshnters at about 1:28, didn’t they look like zerg? (not sayin anything excep maybe too short clip to see them in details – brain works processing power eficcient, and make mental pictures based on fragments of data and experience)
MMO Grinder Sidequest is a quick look at MMOs I wouldn’t normally review, be it through limited trial accounts, or Closed Beta games. First up, it’s the oft requested Star Wars The Old Republic.
At the Star Wars Guild Summit there was a video shown to the attendees that detailed the upcoming 1.2 Mega-Patch. Finally, after much waiting, comes the actual clear and HD version of that video…
Announcing the first gathering of the Disciples of Hatred during the Beta Weekend Stress Test! …and of course that silly Jedi Consular progression video too.
Your questions FINALLY answered! What are the best aspects of the game? Why this MMO than any other? Do we get to kill Jar Jar? All this and more in ToR Q&A #1!

A pinball winter wonderland , the return of the Ludum Dare, and the beauty of The Desolate Hope are just some of what awaits you in this week’s edition of your best source (that’s our story and we’re sticking to it) for free gaming on the net.

awesome soundtrack! if the rest of the sountrack is as good as this, then this will kick ass!

You forgot the atypical Disciples of Hatred plug, Oda. I am dissapoint.
So I did! This shall be fixed immediately!

Hey Nobunaga, great to see you getting some work at Bioware. So tell us, what was it like casting for the Jedi Counselor role?

I think the term “Counselor” here is used in more in the diplomatic rather than in the therapeutic sense.

Yeah, a bit like the Basilisks. ^^:: I would say ‘how intimidating’ but they got owned by a clothie. lol!
