The ever controversial Ubisoft “constant internet connection” DRM once again has reared its unpopular head. With some redactive moves, such as pulling it out of Assassin’s Creed 2 after the fact, or deciding not to include it in AC: Brotherhood at all, Ubisoft fans have theorized back and forth ‘will they get rid of it? Won’t they? Will they? Won’t they?’ Well, new information makes it plainly clear: they won’t.
Thanks to a tweet from the official Driver twitter account, we can all rest easy that “PC version requires permanent internet connection.” Perhaps it is because not many people have a tremendous amount of faith in this upcoming title that Ubisoft has decided to make this move, hoping to stem the flow of people who want to play this game, just not enough to pay for it. I can’t say personally this affected any of my purchasing plans in the future, but are there any PC players out there that now feel compelled to raise their fists to the heavens and cry bloody murder? Does this throw a monkey wrench in any of your plans?
