Finally watched it. Very good overall. I used to play Team Fortress 1 back when it was a Quake mode, then followed it up with Team Fortress Classic. It’s the reason I bought Half-Life, and what made me start playing online FPS games. Let’s just say I waited a long time waiting for TF2. I can’t tell you how many years it was thought to be vaporware.
I’m still watching this, but as I was viewing this I noticed the still for the arcade meetup was of the X-men vs. Street Fighter, and I just had to stop and confirm. ;p That very same arcade cabinet is currently sitting to my right of me as I type this right now.
Unfortunately I need to be getting rid of it. They’re great and all, but it’s a lot easier to use an HD-tv hooked up to a computer for gaming than it is an old-school authentic JAMMA cabinet. Was it Kyle who said it’s one of his favorite games ever? ;p
1. During the TF2 videos, Becky seemed to have bruised knees. What happened?
2. During the vacation vids, BECKY HAD A NOSE RING! Is that just my mind playing tricks on me?

I’ve wanted to play TF2 for so long, but my computers suck bawls. And Bawls is a terrible energy drink that’s bad for computers.
all I know is there’s a crap-ton of achievements for the PC version, and I have no idea if I could get the same up-to-date TF2 experience playing it on 360 version. I’m guessing no, right?

No, you can’t. You could however try downloading TF2 and messing with the settings. There are configs out there that will make the game work on pretty old hardware and there is a DirectX 8 mode too.
That stick part with Batman made my day……I’ll definitely be getting a TC membership, hopefully by the end of the month. Also, it’ll be neat if you do a Canadian meet up!
Oh, just wanted to say that you guys forgot to mention that, due to the Scout’s similarity to the ShamWow Guy, they gave him some of his catchphrases from the ShamWow infomercials as extra. It shows how so awesome Valve is at updates. The “Meet The-” trailers only confirm how much detail Valve puts into their content even further.
Hey Fraser, you should contact Valve to make exclusive TF2 hats for the turbos. That would be pretty cool!
Serious comment though Fraser, i’d like to ask if you have ever played Fallout 2 or Baldurs Gate 2. I’m under the impression that you lke RPG’s and those two are the pinnacle of earthly RPG technology.
In fact, Fallout 2 might make for an epic “lets play” if you ever have the time for it. Either way, i think you’d really like these games.

Still pretty bummed I couldn’t make it out on time, but I’m glad you guys had fun here in the states. Funny, I was at that Players arcade looking for you, but that was most likely an hour after you’d left. 6:40ish, I think. Now I’m wishing I’d ditched that job interview earlier in the day.

Hmm. I suppose this is probably not possible, but having some sort of shimmering effect when someone breaks the fourth wall would be cool. Or something like an orange portal overlay opening up so it looks like (for instance) your arm is actually going somewhere at the cut off point. Probably too much editing to be worth it and I suppose something like that couldn’t be automated. Would be cool but.
Thats a good idea. But I am actually just working on extending the green screen so that breaking the wall aint possible.

Am I the only one here who hates the direction TF2 went with the whole hats thing, and the unlockable weapons? Sure, things get stagnant with no updates like that but…it just ruined the game for me. I know for a fact that Spoony feels the same way at least. He lost it at weapons, I still played when they added the unlockable weapons…then they started adding the hats and it just seemed like that’s all people cared about. New special weapons and hats, and not just having fun with the class they liked to play…oh well, pointless rant over.
You’re not the only one who doesn’t like the hats. There was a group I used to play with and it was fun for a while, but then people started going NUTS over the hats. I still don’t really get what’s so great about them. I guess it might be because I hadn’t been playing as long as the others but I was more interested in collecting weapons. You know, things that actually have an effect on gameplay instead of just making superficial changes.
I remember one guy who bought some Sam & Max game through some other distribution service, then when he found out it came with TF2 hats if you bought it through Steam, he re-purchased it through Steam. It was later announced that people who bought the game through the other service would still get the TF2 hats. So basically the guy ended up wasting money to get an item that not only has no effect on the game, but that he would have gotten anyway. Crazy crap like that completely turned me off from the game for a while.
You’re not alone in your dislike of the direction Valve has taken TF2.
Those micro-transactions really cheese me off, and the random drops of crates YOU HAVE TO BUY A KEY FOR IN ORDER TO DO ANYTHING WITH was just over the top asinine.

Eh, people don’t care about hats that much anymore. Everyone wants unlockable weapons of course, but after the first week most people have them and things return to normal. It’s still a great game and the new weapons add a lot more depth to it than it had on release. A bunch of hats shouldn’t stop you from at least trying to enjoying it.
