Andy and Tom are back again to respond to Sony’s latest press release regarding the PSN. You might be surprised by what they have to say. Call us! 817-717-7202 *Handsome Tom PSN (thegameheroes)
See more at www.TheGameHeroes.com

Dude, Tom… get Wipeout. It was an excellent game in its original form, then they added Fury and the value is through the roof. It’s stunningly beautiful. It’s basically why I bought the PS3.
And why do your heads look… kinda squished… in the video? Did you resize it before posting?
I apologize… that’s all I can say now… I am sorry, for over reacting like a total douche bag.
I hope your wives / girlfriends get a call from the credit card company asking them to verify a purchase of tranny granny porn. Its not about the pissant gamers loosing jerk off time (read a book once in a while people) its about sony rooting your computer, removing advertised features after money was paid and loosing tens of millions of credit card numbers due to the sheer disregard for security.
and if thats not enough sure your more than welcome to hand them your credit card info again for your “free” bullshit, but some of us are just sick of being fucked in the ass by this mindless monster that treats its customers like shit on the side of the road
Fine video I just can’t stand how all the fanboys acted over this video and part 1. First it was like a personal insult them and now they are acting smug and saying how glad they are GH are finally being balanced.
You know what… Both Videos Are Balanced! When a company majorly screws up and effects people they should be criticized. When they do the customer right they should be praised.
Sony didn’t screw up, though… they got hacked. You can go on and on and say “your security was terrible” all day and all night, but the fact remains that their security probably wasn’t one whit worse than Microsoft’s or Nintendo’s. I’m sure it was industry standard stuff, in fact.
In short, this hack didn’t happen due to Sony’s negligence… it happened due to their image. Because there are currently more anti-Sony activists than there are anti-Microsoft or anti-Nintendo activists, Sony got hacked. Can you blame Sony for that? I suppose… but it’s pretty lame to do so. For every bad decision Sony’s made, they’ve made at least 2 good ones. And getting on their case after they’ve been hacked is basically kicking them when they’re down. Do you think they WANTED to be hacked? No, this sucked more for them than it EVER did for us.
People need to stop feeling entitled. If you use Sony’s online services, and you’re affected when they get hacked… blame the hacker(s), NOT the company. Sony did nothing wrong here at all. In fact, I tip my hat to them for being ultra-cautious in cleaning up this mess, and taking every step they possibly can to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.
I will be downloading dead nation and infamous because not that into wipeout and i’ve got little big planet on psp
I am glad you guys made this follow up just to clarify that you do care more about gamers not being cheated than about which company wins the console war. I also think Sony’s further compensation for the loss users have experienced does go a long way to show that, despite the disaster that has happened, Sony continues to care about its user base.
I do agree with Andy that this would be a perfect time to extend some free stuff to newcomers, but offering the same package as the one the existing owners are receiving would likely put off loyal customers who might then believe that they were not being properly compensated. Some smaller incentive, such as points, seems more ideal for new customers.
Man, I hate that game list. I pretty much have them all so I get nothing really. I know its just me being picky but I really wish they had a bit more choice.
Sooo…. anyone have any idea how to get these free games. I just logged on and there didn’t seem to be any messages, and the shopping section was still “down for maintenance”.
When the store comes back up, although that was supposed to be the 21st and it still isnt back
Well it could be because I’m in a different country, or is it still down everywhere?
I thought it was the 31′st for the store.
thanks guys, this video took alot of balls, sure it’s not a apology, but it was very tasteful and i feel alot better for watching it
oh, the games i’d get, doi:
the only one i’m interested in is infamous since i got prototype all the way back then, to be honest the other games i already own/am not interested in
Well what do you know. GH and expesially Andy are able to do rational thinking after all unlike impression that previous Smoke You video gave us.
Ah well this video seems a bit more balanced. Everyone was jumping on the ps3 hacked band wagon, I should not have been surprised when you guys did too. Tis a human thing. Now the games I will get, since I did get Wipeout HD+Fury and played LBP already. I will most likely get Super Stardust HD, because it has pretty two player couch mode(I think) I was thinking on buying it eventually any way, because I did have fun with the demo. Infamous. I did get it once but was expecting more of out it than it had. I was expecting Prototypeish stuff because that was the game it was constantly being compared to. Now that I have a clearer head I might pick it up. I was thinking of going with Dead Nation, but that is just Alien Swarm but zombies. I can get Aliens swarm for free on steam.
Tom is so tan, why so tan Tom?
He does live in Texas. And in Texas, even the sun is bigger.
Nu borkin der soni?
Yum ber swe ye ing ahira da ho, ye borch der dee nir gor hm smork smork smork!
Und here der Cakenshmuscher.
The USA list is kinda… okay.
But noooo german doesn’t get the best out of it.
instead of 2 interesting games (Infamous and Dead Nation) we get 2 totally uninteresting game…. Ratchet & Clank and Hustle Kings… what are we… 14??
f….in sony
Dude, that’s not Sony’s fault. Blame Germany’s ultra-conservative content restrictions for games!
I was one of the people upset with your last video on the PSN downtime. I started this video expecting more of the same crap like before, but you surprised me. Although you will have to admit, that you should have handled the last video a lot better. You could have brought up your dealings with owning several 360′s to balance out the PS3/PSN sucks and show it is real grievance with Sony and not just a reason to bash them as well as the fans (you really did try hard to make it sound like you were doing so).
As for what games I will get, I still don’t know yet. I don’t own any of the games and 3 or 4 of them sound like good picks to me.
OMG SONY FUKED UP SO BAD its not like there were hackers involved or anything. AND GIVING US FREE STUFF? WTF MAN. WTF. I DONT WANT ANY FREE STUFF, AMG TEH PS3 IS SO BAD AND TEH ERVY OTHER SYETSTEM IS SO MOAR MUCH GOODER CAUSE SONY IS BAD
This is what i see when i read through some of these comments…..Seriously, anyone bashing sony, the most you have to argue with is “their security wasnt as good as it could have been, they should have improved it” but again i say, it doesnt matter how fantastic or horrible their security was. NO system is unhackable, and the other big game companies could have just as easily have been compromised, to what extent i cannot say, but sony is not to blame. Even if they had NO security, this is the fault of HACKERS and this company is owning up to the attacks as if they were responsible.
Now, as for the OMG TEHY R JUST AFTRE MEH MONEYZ TEYH HAS NO RESPECKT FOUR GAMERZ point of view…Sure, they are after my money. You know how they are going to get it? by being good to their customers. If i am falling prey to their evil scheme, then oh woah is me.
now for the obligatory counter attack against xbox fanboys–you may be used to this moneygrubbing crap from YOUR game systems’ company, but sony is teh moar awesome.
as for wii? hahahahha….it thinks its gamesystems :O
/end rant
What a crock of shit Sony fucked up and thats all there is to it, coming out and saying thankyou is just annoying. As an owner of both major consoles I can safely say that any multi platform release titles I will be buying on the 360 and not the playstation because the company (not the console you sony fanboys) has been way more reliable in their service in my experience.
I dunno, this kind of debate is pointless online because the 360 and PS fanboys will just argue to the death about non issues when in actuality if half of you daft cunts owned both consoles you wouldn’t moan nearly half as much.
Sony fucked up big time end of story, no thankyou, no well done, they need to do better.
Oh and also the thought that a company like Microsoft or Sony have the players in mind is laughable, It has been an always will be about the money on a corporate level and thats why Sony are groveling because they stand to make a huge loss you naive children.
you points are valid, your presentation however is horrendous, i give it a 2 for ‘trolling’
But if a company doesn’t care about its customers, it won’t make any money as long as there is competition. Businessmen don’t live in a vacuum, and customers are smarter than you give them credit for being.
im gonna grab littleBigPlanet and wipeout+fury although im debating that or dead nation
A bit of a concession video, I must say. Which is good because the first one did seem a bit insulting, intentional or not. I do not have any of those games (although very interested in all, just passed for other recent games in the PS3 library) and cannot wait for the content. To be honest, gaming consoles for the most part, and the PS3 in particular, seem to have hit a temporary cap. Most game developers have not made a single game that fully utilized the BluRay technology (with the exception perhaps being LA Noire). Perhaps I am wrong and I understand the gaming consoles don’t make money if they are not updated, but it seems almost pointless to release a new Playstation, unless there is new technology. Maybe it is just too early because a lot can change in two to three years.
And then shortly after this video was made, the Sony password reset site was compromised and they had to shutdown services AGAIN. Poor Sony, you just can’t catch a break. This whole experience has made me just lose any interest I had in a PS3 or PSP, or any future consoles/handhelds they release for quite some time….
We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Source info: PS blog page.
Thank you?… REALLY? Thank you? Friggin lame guys.
Yes Sony, thanks for your completely inept security and horrible mishandling of user data. I cant wait intill congress gets an investigation rolling and we hear the truth of how they kept our data. Ive heard stuff as bad as people saying that they kept it in plain text form.
Sony still completely and utterly dropped the ball on this and im still very pissed off at them. As you guys even mentioned, i think just giving people points would have been the way to go here. Most fans already have these games. Honestly my old 40 gig fat died a few weeks ago and im not so sure im gonna be running to get a replacment. I may just stick with my 360 for now untill theres a significant price drop or sale or something to replace it
I thought this video was more fair, and not because you sided with sony or said some negative things about xbox.
Overall you made some great points, about how it’s very inconvenient to get cards all the time, and I agree, it is so much easier to leave your card there, and 9 times out of 10 nothing bad will happen, however for those who want to be 100% they won’t get there info stolen when they put there card online point cards or green dot are the way to go.
It does suck that alot of people probably already own those games, for instance I already have little big planet. Probably gonna get infamous and deadnation just cause those 2 sound the most fun and interesting for me, though I remember playing wipeout on my 64 so nostalgia might take the day on that one.
As far as Andy being undecided, Id suggest looking at future released titles for the system and previous titles you want, if they add up to over 10 games I’d get it because you will get your money’s worth in enjoyment, if not wait. I bought mine this year and I am completely satisfied, but then again I have over 30 titles on the system now, so it was worth my time. To each his own I suppose.
Well keep making stuff like this video and not like the last and I’ll keep watching you guys for your opinions. Thanks for coming out with part2.
I do think that the welcome back program is great. I, too, don’t mind being bought at all. I don’t really care about how long it’s down; it’s good.
Of course, I hardly ever do online play and, as I only own a PSP, I only use PSN to get an occasional PSOne Classic.
Speaking of which, MediaGo has got to be THE WORST computer program I have ever handled. Let me put things in perspective. After my PSX broke, I switched to emulating most of my PXOne titles on my laptop and debugging an emulator–finding the right .dll files, tweaking the settings, and all the other thousands of headaches that go with emulators was less of a pain than the “update your Flash program, .NET framework, and reinstalling MediaGo” that seems to happen every few days.
To add insult to injury, Sony forces me to double-pay to play games I already own, and titles like Tenchu 2 and Parasite Eve 2 are still not available while we get games like “Championship Bass” up on PSN as “PSOne Classics.”
Obviously “Classic” is a title which can be bought with a dirt-cheap license.
Sony, you’ve made good for the hack. But your customer support is so hideous your hot wife (3rd party developers with awesome games) can’t make you look attractive anymore.
Hey Andy…………………………………………….Thank you…
Thank you for finally coming to your senses (we hope) and realizing that you’ve crossed the line in the previous video
You know that if you did own a PS3 before the hacking occured, more than half of the things you have said in the previous video would have been completely different then. Yes, you would have still been pissed with Sony, but you would have at least given a more elaborated reason about why you’re upset then just
“Playstation 3 sucks!”
I can relate to Andy’s comment about buying a console late into its development cycle. I actually recently purchased a 360 and I’m worried that when Microsoft launches it’s new console in a couple of years the 360 will be thrown into the hopper and be discontinued just like what happened to the original XBOX when the 360 launched. That was weighing heavily when I was standing in the checkout line with my 360.
this makes me glad I waited to buy Infamous..I’m so getting it!
Seeing as I already have LittleBigPlanet and my friend has Infamous, I was thinking of getting Dead Nation and Wipeout HD w/ Fury. As for the PSP games, I am still deciding on that (maybe Killzone: Liberation and LittleBigPlanet (PSP)). Anyways, I hope Sony will make sure that a breach like this never happens again.
Very sad thing:
In Germany they have to replace inFamous and Dead Nation with Hustle Kings and Super Stardust HD because of their USK 18 ratings.
Same goes for Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force (both USK 16) on the PSP. They will be replaced with Everybody’s Golf 2 and…Buzz! Junior Jungle Party…WTF?!
I’ll get LBP, both for PS3 and PSP. Also Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty (PS3) and ModNation Racers (PSP).
I had infamous stolen from my mailbox (packaging was there..but no game) So I’ll get that and probably wipeout. I’ll get modracers and resistance on the PSP.
someone took the game and left the packaging behind? wow what a dick!
That was oddly positive, anyway I do agree that they handled the entire thing poorly, but it’s resolved now and I have some free stuff (yay!), but I’ve already had my time with half of them (boo!). Honestly though I’m just glad PSN is back up.
I’m looking at dead natin and wipeout. I tried infamous but wasn’t a huge fan and the rest didn’t look that good to me. other than LBP, that I own and love. I would have liked a wider range of games or some PSX games but I’m good with what their giving me
Well it still don’t change my mind about those security issues… this is my last Sony Console. maybe not my last sony product ever but obviously my last Playstation as long as they can’t prove me their security systems are strong as I expect… Amazon, Ebay, Paypal… never got any kind of problems.
however I do appreciate those gentle manners to welcome us back and ask for our pardon. Free real games ? Cool ! free movie rental ? Pretty awesome ! I already own InFamous but it is so far the best game of the list with LBP1 wich I also own. I’m gonna take WipeOut HD Fury and Ratchet and Clank. if WipeOut can be played online I’d like to have some guys to play with online… just PM me.
I’m less mad about them and I think this is normal we we’re really enraged because it is about our informations, our address, and of course our Bank account numbers… and we’re in rights to be pretty mad, however now that is said maybe I’ll buy more multiplatform games on PS3 depending if they are superiour or not. ME3 ? Go f*ck yourselves this goes on my Xbox. Portal 2 ? Of course !
I’m planning to get inFAMOUS and Wipeout HD. I’ve been on the fence about inFAMOUS ever since it came out, so might as well get it while it’s free (and see if the sequel is worth getting), while Wipeout looks to be the closest thing I’ll find to a visually high-quality F-Zero game.
the welcome back package is fine even tho i cant say im too hyped about any of the free games. i do like the giving us playstation points idea instead of games better but oh well. ill be taking LBP and i dont know yet about the 2nd.
1 complaint i think you guys missed is that anyone who bought MK9 while PSN was down cant use this FUCKING KOMBAT PASS (WTF was netherrealms thinking) until the store(?) is back up…so yea…
I think it is unfortunate that the only you remembered from your last “Smoke you “comments was “OMG you are a fanboy”. There has been lots of wise criticism about your ideas, way beyond the childish fanboyism there was occasionally.
For example, as many did, including me, we pointed the lack of rationality with the sophistic argument you used : PSN has been hacked, therefore Playstation sucks.
Actually, it seems to me that you missed the entire point of that argument. It was a bit more nuanced than you gave it credit for. It was more like, (1) the PSN is down, (2) therefore, online gaming is out, (3) half the reason to even own a gaming system is to be able to play it online, (4) not only that, but updates and other features of the network are out, (5) therefore, there is no reason for me to consider purchasing a PS3. Frankly, I thought that, given what you’re missing out on by not having access to the network, the conclusion was sound. Granted, there may be reasons to have a PS3 besides those features that require the network, but the thing to do is address those reasons.
And, if you had been paying attention to other reasons he gave, you might notice he also pointed out the failure of the Move, which was in essence an attempt to cash in on the motion sensitive technology of the Wii, but with nowhere near the sophistication or innovation that the Kinect utilized. Which, in my opinion, means that Sony was attempting to copy the Wii, when they should have simply focused on the PS3′s strengths to set it apart (both the 360 and the PS3 are much more powerful machines than the Wii). Frankly, if I want the Wii’s motion sensitivity, I’ll just buy a Wii, rather than spend an equal amount of money to essentially turn my 360 or PS3 into a Wii. (Notice what I did there: I also say the same about the Kinect as I do about the Move). But the Move was just one example of how Sony was falling behind in the marketplace. That, combined with the network outage, doesn’t make the console look very appealing.
So basically, in order for me to be enticed to buy a PS3, it needs to be able to do things that the 360 cannot do. It has some decent exclusive games – are they the games I want to play? It’s a powerful machine – how is that additional power being put to work? In other words, what does the PS3 have that the 360 doesn’t? Well, at the time of that original video, there was one thing 360 had that PS3 didn’t, and that was a working network.
In short, given the circumstances at the time, Andy’s case made sense. Now that the PSN is back up, he has reevaluated the situation and made a different case, which essentially boiled down to, “Great. Glad they got it fixed. I’m still not going to buy one. But at least it’s fixed.”
Damn… no matter how valid your point it or how polite and calm you are in delivering your point… if it’s against Sony… then you get thumbs down.
Just sad.
Yeah. Thumbs Down to me are kind of like “Unsubbing” to Video Games Awesome.
In fact, there’s one lady who posts frequently to VGA, and she’s constantly getting thumbed down for no good reason. I guess BT is just full of really lazy trolls.
Andy:
The point of offering the incentives for the outage was to make up for the inconvenience and loss of service. It sort of makes sense that, if you didn’t own a PS3 or PSP during that outage, that you wouldn’t get the same incentives.
But I can still see your point: although Sony has made some definite efforts to compensate their customers for the problems, it still leaves those of us who do not have Sony systems to wonder whether or not it would be worth our while to buy one. Me, it’s not. I’m thankful for my 360 because it was a Christmas gift from my mom; but there’s no way I can afford to run out and buy a new gaming system. And even if I could, I would rather invest in a new PC (this one I’m typing on is a 2004 model – I’m way overdue for an upgrade). So, if I was looking at a new system, I would definitely want one that’s going to be with me a few years, that I will get some good use of, not one that is coming close to the end of its life cycle. That is, unless the company gives some major reasons why I should go ahead and get one. Games would definitely be a great incentive, as would be certain other goods and services (extra controllers, free Move, that sort of thing). Otherwise, I would just make do with my 360 and wait until I can get a new PC.
I’m also hoping that some of the rabid PS3 fanboys who took your previous video as a personal attack against themselves will now come to their senses and realize that this really is about the company and their products, and not about their customers. For all their accusations of fanboyism directed toward you, it seems that they should have been pointing their fingers at themselves instead. Fanboy is as fanboy does, I say.
In the end, Sony heard and responded to their customers’ needs, and this is what it was all about all along.
“It sort of makes sense that, if you didn’t own a PS3 or PSP during that outage, that you wouldn’t get the same incentives.”
Until you consider that, as was pointed out in the video- if you’re thinking about owning a PS3- you’ve probably been watching this debacle unfold. The fact that you’d be a late adopter as far as the system’s “life cycle” is concerned is enough of a deterrent without having seen a massive breach of security and customer trust- like this one.
This was a much more tactful video, by the way. I’m not a fanboy of either of these systems (and in fact I own neither) but the last video was, well, at best full of things that had very little to do with a bunch of people losing their personal data to thieves, and at worst was kind of insulting to those very people.
Glad to see you’ve recovered on this one.
Update on PSN Password Reset Process
+ Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media
We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.
Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.
Since i hate infamous and wipeout and i have Lbp, i’m getting Dead Nation and Ratchet and Clanc
Ummm just FYI Ratchet and Clank is not one of the free titles their offering.
It is in Europe, in the place of stardust
You lucky bastards. lol
I’m personally going to download LittleBigPlanet, and maybe Wipeout HD, but thats just me (I already own inFAMOUS)
Just so you know… PSN is sort of hacked again!
Not the PSN but their failform http://kotaku.com/5803050/sony-playstation-network-password-reset-page-exploited-customer-accounts-potentially-compromised
I guess the people of Sony need to catch up on Programming for Dummies.
I don’t get why you get so much thumbs down because after all those external security firms they hired they actually manage to fail on a form.
Yeah I know, I just thought people would for once try to find info themselves. Aspecially since it was posted on Kotaku where I read it. Still its a security exploit and the account(s) if you resetted them, would be able to be used on PSN. Thats why its kind of hacked. So I guess fanboys thumbed down since they HATE when you just tell the truth.
