Anything can be addicting. Even video games. That does not mean we should give up what we enjoy because some people can’t handle it. Take a listen to the latest Heart of Gaming episode for this rambling, intoxicated argument.
Music selection this week is “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye” by Michael Ortega.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody.
Maybe it’s just me but this episode seemed to have less jokes than the last one. I guess you were more focused with getting message across, which I can respect. keep up the good work.
These things are only getting better
I don’t know about ‘only’ getting better. Although, they’re definitely improving quite a bit.
I can post this comment and play video games
I am addicted to video games.
i am failing university because of this crippling addiction, it is not the fault of the game, it is a problem with me. i have a very addictive personality, hence why i don’t drink and would never consider doing drugs.
That is why i will not play any more video games until the end of the semester, they are destroying my life. no, that’s wrong. i am destroying my life and i am just using video games to do it.
Video games, Addictive personality, depression, loneliness, a history of physical and sexual assault are not the best combination. but without games i guess i would find something else to obsess over.
i have 2 months of university left in this semester, i am not sure if i can make it the whole way through but i have to try for my own sake.
Admitting the problem is the first step to resolve it, after that you need resolve and patience.
And if you fear to fall to other addiction… stick to videogames that are and addition with few collateral effect and easier to stop when the times come.
Good luck.
This show was so good I wish to translate it and adapt it, so I can share it with everyone…
Would you resent me if I did that? I mean despite the dark humour you so masterfully blend together, everything you said is both educational and entertaining; my Boyscout troupe would love hearing your work; and with some luck their parents would actually learn something.
( Seriously sometimes is harder for an adult to understand things that their kids immediately assimilate; do we get dumer with age?)
The show is definitely not meant for children, but if you want to use an audio editor to make a version with the f-words bleeped out, I certainly won’t stop you. It’s going to take A LOT of bleeps, though.
Don’t worry; I plan to show this show to a bunch of 16 to 22 year olds, young adults literally.
About games VS gambling: sometime they are similar. The most addictive game type is MORPG, they have problem with gold seller and power leveler, or directly real money “micro” transaction. I know people that waste thousands and thousands dollars into this, to be “the most powerfull”.
PS: I laugh about spots addiction
I don’t know if anything you said about yourself was true, but it was an interesting story either way.
I thought the jokes were clever, and, for the most part, delivered well. I really appreciate your different take on how to do commentary about issues relating to video games, a bit of curry powder in my ramen if you will.
The whole thing feels like I’m overhearing your conversation with the bartender, and I’ll be eavesdropping next week while I drink my… hmmm… White Russian?
The Heart of Gaming host character is only semi-autobiographical. Some of what is said is completely true of myself if only for “write what you know” reasons. Much of it is fictional and written specifically for the topic or for laughs. The show is largely just that. A show.
I’m glad you like it.
Doesn’t that fool know that by posting a video online, he could be starting people down the path to internet addiction.
