Today is something special for our Mega-Week draws to a close as we get to tune into something very cool…. a Mega Man inspired Rock opera!
The Protomen are a group of musicians from the heart of Nashville, Tennessee and have performed across Canada and the USA at large and small venues.
Birdman first heard of them at PAX EAST 2010 and since then has listened to the CDs hundreds of times and even rocked out to their performance at MAGFEST 9 a few weeks ago.
In this edition of Review a day, we will take a look 3 of the tracks from the group’s discography to give you insight into the world they have created around Mega Man canon… it’s a dark place with familiar faces and shares some very personal experiences.
We enter the House of Light with RAD and hope to emerge with the Will of One and avoid the Hounds….
This is the PROTOMEN!
Please visit their official website @ The Protomen

This guy is right
I went to their concert a few days ago. AND IT WAS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE HEARD!!!!
and everyone in the band was not afraid of signing something. Turbo Lover one of the singer and guitarists even signed by Yu-gi-oh card.
so definitely go see them live
“What was her name?”
“Doesn’t matter”.
Hmm… doesn’t seem like my thing, I guess.
I’ll give the rest of their albums a listening to. Maybe I’m just missing something here.
I really recommend you listen to “Light up the night” and “Due vendetta”
However, the best way to see and experience them is live
if you live near Boston and can make it to PAX East, go and see what you think then
Awesome. I had listened to the Protomen for about a year before finally going to see a show (they ended up coming to Vancouver Canada pretty last minute), and I really liked them beforehand, but their shows are really unmatched. There’s just so much going on, and the crowd gets incredibly into it too. It definitely the most powerful live show I’ve ever been to.
I got a LOT of people into Protomen at MAGFest. PROTOMEN FOREVER!
It was totally a life changing experience!
The fact that I heard them live like that goes down as my best concert experience ever!
I already loved their music and this made me want the actual physical copies of the CDs… but I can’t find them! Act I is not on Amazon and the only way I could get Act II is either for $38 on Amazon(!) or with the t-shirt. Now I’m not opposed to getting the t-shirt with Act II, but there doesn’t seem to be a place to get a physical copy of Act I… which makes me sad.

I’m so glad that you talked about them. They are amazing, they give goosebumps every time I listen to both albums. they’re probably the best band out there to date!
Well now I’ll have to check them out now. Not a bad thing seeing as my music library hasn’t grown much for awhile.
I got a really nice email from The Protomen tonight in relation to tonight’s episode
“Hey Mike,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Things have been hectic around here. Lots and lots of projects going on at once.
I listened to the show earlier today, and it was great. Thanks for all the kind words. I checked out the site as well. You guys are doing good work.
As for the merch you stole……..I guess we’re going to have to hunt you down, break into your house while you sleep, and then beat you to death with a tennis racket…………….or not.
It’s no problem at all. Consider it journalistic swag, or a bonus for buying one of everything already. Also, that’s cool of you to give it away. We can use all the promotional help we can get.
Are you going to be able to make it to PAX East this year? You should, it’s going to be pretty awesome.
Thanks again,
-Commander
p.s. – I hope nobody ever murders you with a tennis racket, because this email may be admissible as some form of evidence.”
I love Proto-Man! Great work you guys! Can’t wait to hear the next episode! Hope to hear your two cents about Marvel vs Capcom 3, Birdman
I have not heard much about the Protomen other than their name. After listening to their songs, I was blown away instantly. Excellent review of their music, man.
