You are over reacting in some thing!
ok its not the top game in the series.. but as you said in your review there are worst…
personally i enjoyed it! it my 3rd favorite game in F.F series (No1 F.F 7, No2 F.F 8 and F.F X)
but i love final fantasy x but its true for what you say.
what wait spoony spoony? … i hop he ` s ok lets hop hes not on space. if he is the matrix shape finds him and bran back home.
love your REVIEWS spoony this game was the ass crack of the final fantasy games keep up the good work man. (:
You know what I actually played all the final fantasy games from 1-7 and when I stopped buying them I felt guilty because I felt I was missing out on the rest of the series. However now that I watched Spoony’s review of final fantasy 8 and 10 I am glad that I stopped buying them after 7. It saved me a lot of cash and saves some brain cells for me as well, thank you spoony for giving me facts before I actually bought these games.
I can’t believe that this shit was produced by the same people who produced Kingdom Hearts 2.
I donkt know whats the hate about X-2 I thought it was pretty decent. It was not great but I had my fun with it like X . The Worst FF is 13. 12 Was not good either but 13 certainly overshade it. THE worst FF for me and the deathnail of the series. My god man what happend to you SE… You were something years ago but now youre only leeching off other titles like lara croft or dungeon siege to survive. Thats sad man.
Perhaps you’re one of the lucky ones, one of the ones who managed to forget a certain minigame in X-2, or luckier still, just never made it that far. And if you are, good for you, but I’m not so lucky, I remember every second of it. FFX-2 flips you the bird plenty of times long before it reaches that point but at least for me the extremely sucky massage minigame was the death of it. It’s also the death of what sex appeal the game survived on. I’m sure spoony could dedicate an entire episode just to that one minigame if he really wanted to punish himself for some reason. In short, while it’s your right to like and defend X-2, it doesn’t make much sense to me why you would.
even tho i love this game and it’s my fav game in my fav seires but all i can say is that i love this review it is one of my fav reviews i have ever watch and even tho i disargee with most of the things you reviewed about but i do agree on the final boss, that was one of the things that pissed me off so much, keep you the good work cant wait for your final fantasy 10-2 review, the 2nd worst final fantasy first being final fantasy 12
Lightning1798:
There are 2 types of fanboys in this world: the ones who try to come up with a smart argument, and the ones who don’t.
They were the last hope for saving the world. That was made so fucking obvious in the game beforehand that that comment isn’t even worth criticizing for how little thought was put into it.
That’s a pretty big assumption, since teleporting doesn’t not involve you exploding into flames. That’s like beaming someone and it leaves a poisonous cloud of chorine gas behind. So yeah, THINK!
I’m sorry. I didn’t know that SUMMONERS CAN ONLY SUMMON IN TEMPLES ON A PILGRIMAGE!! And again, THIIIIIIIINK!!
You have a great point with the allergies there, so I won’t rob you of that.
I’m crazy for thinking that you’ve been defending a game that you’re a fan of, even when you said that the game was worthy of all its praise while you constantly looked for flaws in his argument?
You might want to look into something called “deductive reasoning”.
The object still has no purpose, because there are far, far, FAAR more examples of futuristic things in the game. We don’t need a pointlessly projecting street lamp to prove it’s the future. So yeah, it serves no purpose and ultimately CAN confuse the player.
Tedious means boring because of its monotonous and time-consuming quality. I see nothing in that definition that says “hard” or “difficult”.
Yes, some can overlook all the bad qualities of something because of the good qualities. However, you have to understand. There are people who focus on the bad parts because they feel that they overshadow the good parts.
No, you couldn’t apply it to any other story and come up with the same results. The point of suspension of disbelief is, like I said, for the setting and characters. Suspension of disbelief is not meant to cover up bad storytelling, horrible dialogue, stale cliches, or anything of that sort that makes the story horrible. That’s not overthinking. That’s criticizing using thought.
I don’t hate the game. If I hated the game, I wouldn’t have bought Final Fantasy X-2 for Christmas. Also, let me tell you about an overrated movie that came out last year called Winter’s Bone. It had great acting, and a great plot. However, it was boring, its story was incredibly cliched, its characters were cliched white stereotypes, and it was padded out until the very end with dialogue and conversations that never amounted to anything, and are rendered useless by the ending. And look at it, 94% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, garnered many awards, and has a few Oscar nominations under its belt. There are many other films and works of art that have gotten this fate. Face it, there are such things as incredibly overrated things that suck, and yet have gotten praise all around. Final Fantasy X is no exception to this, a work that has gotten much praise even with many glaring flaws.
I like the review and thought it was hilarious, but am I the only one who notices how much Spoony’s voice is cracking in this review?
Hey, hey spoony! Hey, read this!
Allow me to inflict agonizing pain upon you.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/khannn-final-fantasy-xiii-2-t12129.html
Spoony, love your reviews AND! PumpkinHead… is a piece of shit, same with FF8 and FF10 they sucked cow nipples. The whole fucking story was stupid, well most of it, and i agree with you about the combat being really good. But i hate how they are all like “ooh yay you can swim in this game we’ll just put in lots of pointless swimming it will be fun, people will like it you know?” WELL I DIDN’T LIKE IT! the swimming was boring and pointless, and how to fuck can Rikku hold her breath underwater for hours?
The review is funny, but your points just seems stupid when your reviewing a japanese game with xenophobicsa arguments.
it’s another culture with a different style of fantasy than the western ones. The voice acting is bad because it was translated. And just because you don’t like the anime style, it doens’t mean people who like it are stupid.
Re VA: I refer you to Final Fantasy 12, still some of the best voice work done in a video game to date, also translated. That’s a terrible, terrible excuse which doesn’t even make sense.
Hey Spoony, if you love busy work, you would love Tales of Symphonia… it has far more temple nonsense than this does! XD And don’t even get me started on the SIDEQUESTS! That, and the storyline would probably give you nightmares about FFX too!
well at least Tales of Symphonia has a world map, hair style doesn’t look like a joke (I’m looking at you wakka and siemore or whatever his name is) and final battle doesn’t make fun at the gamers with laughable boss fight that not only looks like spider (or whatever you wanna call it) also just using curaga all the time.
Do you like penis collages…
Darn it, Spoony! You could have had your own persona if you just faced yourself!
Oh well. Awesome review!
oh gosh i got way too excited when i saw this review was out xD
seems like you love persona 4..:P
referencing shin megami tensei, putting the game on your “good games” shelf in your intro and in the words of black lantern spoony: “I am the shadow, the true self”..
The other thing abot FFX? It’s one of the only games that shares its world with another numbered Final Fantasy game. If I’m correct, it takes place several thousand years after the original Final Fantasy II for the Famicom. Yeah. One of the best games in the series shares a world with one of the worst games. Yeaaaah.
I…freaking…LOVE….your…Finall Fantasy reviews…I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
I love FF games (FFVII is the best game ever IMHO), all of them but I agree that the plot of FFX was all over the place, the Blitz Ball and cloisters of fu… er… trial were idiotic and Tidus was just, uh, I don’t even! Having said that, I think I’ve spent 2 months playing it. I can forgive FF games everything as long as they are as playable as they are.
I’m going to have to be honest. As much as I agree with EVERYTHING Spoony said about FFX and I can think of a few more complaints (he barely touched on the fact you cannot skip cutscenes for example) I… like this game. I don’t know why. I think the overall story is good (poorly executed but still) and as for games with this type of plot, this was the first for me, so it wasn’t so cliched and obvious for me as it would be for other people. Also, I greatly enjoy the battle system, as well as the graphics (best I’ve seen on PS2 before God of War). And of course, the game’s worth playing at least once just for Auron. And yet, I laughed hard at every part of this review, from Part 1 to now, because I knew it was true.
Anyway, this was an awesome finale to an awesome review, from a typically awesome reviewer. Thanks a ton for your tireless dedication to making us laugh while pointing out the inherent flaws with modern Final Fantasy games.
Gotta love people who love the game and get defensive at this type of entertainment.
Gotta love people who loathe the game and can’t understand that other peoples tastes differ.
Great review as usual, Spoony. Tidus outfit is scary good.
Recently you made a comment at the end of one of your vids mentioning how you’re going to get back into something you’ve put off for a long time. I guess you were talking about this, but at the time I could have sworn you were implying going to go back to the Nightmare games.
I really wish you’d go back and do the Nightmare games. You totally failed your ‘within a year’ challenge, completely and miserably. That could make for an interesting tie in to this reviews’ end-story imo :p
ooh spoony doesnt want to bitch about final fantasy games anymore?
how about you stop then? picking a game you hate and “review” it just to rip it apart is neither clever nor entertaining and to be honest it got old a long time ago.
Then why do you watch his reviews in the first place?
Ripping games and movies apart he hates is all he ever does… a few exceptions aside.
You do realise that he’s only acting he’s tired of reviewing, don’t you?
And if you’re watching this because you yourself want something to bitch about then that’s quite hypocritical of you, isn’t it?
of course i know its acted,
i havent even fully watched it cause the fist few sentences alone were oozing bias so badly i lost interest. and as you say its what he always does appeantly, i just wanted to state my opinion on that concept
Yeah, so you’re just expressing your negative opinion about why people shouldn’t express their negative opinions about matters because it’s “neither clever or entertaining” while you don’t even attempt to be clever or entertaining. Brilliant, just brilliant.
lol man now youre trying way too hard to be a dick
its my opinion and unlike a review my little comment isnt made to entertain people and noone forces you to agree with me.
unless you revoked my license of having an opinion of course
*looks at neg rep*
Who’s being a dick again?
No one takes the opinion of a troll seriously if he can’t even spell “apparently” right.
Never played FFX..could never get into FFVIII….but I will agree with bigassanvil, FFIX was awesome, its my favourite of the FF games I’ve played.
I just noticed the summon names you added at 15:15
I actually love Final Fantasy VIII, X, and XII, although my fav. Final Fantasies will always be FFVI and IV (I really hope VI gets a 3DS remake like IV did on the DS). I can’t say why, other then I enjoyed the overall story and ignored the plot holes (since most of them were just there to keep the story moving overall).
I must ask though, since you shown footage of Kingdom Hearts II, what’s your opinion on that game, and/or the Kingdom Hearts games in general. To me, its one of my favorite series, especially gameplay-wise, with Birth by Sleep being my favorite, Aqua in particular.
I personally think if VI gets a remake, it deserves one in a much better quality than the DS, with EXCELLENT or NO VOICE ACTORS, I see the game fit better on the PSP or an HD Console like the PS3 or X360, the quality of the game requires an equal rehash, the DS isn’t a Console capable to bring the Thrill in terms of Sound & Visuals, Imagine the Warring Triad Scene in an HD Console, How awesome can that be!
My point with the Voice Actors is that they need to be Excellent, because if they aren’t they can ruin the experience, that’s why I say Excellent or No. Kinda Extremist I know, but I want to see things done well, FFIV rehash was just OK, to me it deserved a better treatment & If they pick FFVI, I hope the don’t mess it up, because I can be pissed off big time.
So I totally support your Motion for an FFVI remake or remaster, but I like to take things up to Eleven =D.
Spoony said at MAGFest that they were probably good, but he just didn’t “get them”. Apparently seeing disney and final fantasy characters in the same room is too much for him to handle.
It would very funny if Spoony starts reviewing Final Fantasy X-2 on the 10th anniversary of FFX’s release. Great reviews from begging to end and can’t wait to see where this main plot is going.
For someone who hates cosplayers, and Tidus especially, you sure were quick to crowbar in a scene of yourself dressed as Tidus.
Just saying, there.
Brilliant video, but coulda done without seeing some white pasty chest. My eyes tried to kill themselves.
I dont know how people can just say they disagree with Spoony’S opinions on FFX and then walk away.
That’s like saying “I disagree with Isaac Newton, there is no gravity” and then flying off without even giving any sort of reason what you base this on. Bumblebees can pull that sort of stuff, but not humans. Humans aren’t bumblebees!
Now sure there are debatable things, but the giant, lazy-ass plot devices (“Hey somebody kidnapped Yuna!), idiotic decisions the characters make again and again (“oh hey, the world is being destroyed by a giant monster and we are the only hope to stop it, let’s go play Blitzball”, “Yay we defeated the villain who keeps resurrecting if we don’t send him to the afterlife with a special ritual, let’s just go somewhere else”), as well as general lack of logic (“okay guys, we’ll have the cavalry who couldn’t even beat the 20 foot tall monster that’s been eating our chocobos charge straight at the monster the size of several cities and have them destroy it”) are nothing you can just say “I disagree to” especially not without an argument!
Come on people if you care about this game at all why don’t you give any sort of reasonable, valid defense?
The first Yuna kidnapping was pretty dumb, but we didn’t actually see it happening. And her guardians were disstracted at the time. The Al Bhed could’ve sedated her making her unable to summon. And later we see she gets out of the ship’s cabin in which she was unable to summon because Donna later remarks that those places “are too cramped to summon”. The second time Yuna’s kidnapped she doesn’t summon because the fight’s underwater and Aeons apparently can’t swim. And about the third time when she was kidnapped by the Guado you could argue that she actually wasn’t and went freely because we see her later marrying Seymour.
They weren’t the world’s only hope. There were still other summoners on their pilgrimage, i.e. Isaaru and Donna. Besides the Blitzball game was about the only time in the game they ‘took a break’. Maybe they needed that. Maybe if they would’ve constantly stressed about pressing forward instead of just taking it one day at a time someone would’ve had a nervous breakdown. I’m guessing Tidus.
She tried to send Seymour the first time but the second and third time he just exploded. So there wasn’t anything really to send. Although one might argue that’s pretty lame because he could’ve just as easily exploded into ‘nothing’ the fourth time they fight him. Quite stupid indeed.
With the Chocobo Eater there weren’t as many soldiers as with Sin. They had a whole army to battle Sin and extra Al Bhed weaponry; they had to try. Most of the soldiers probably were on their way to battle Sin and couldn’t be bothered with little bosses. Besides they were soldiers: they were just following orders. Not very smart I know, but then again I don’t think becoming a soldier is a very smart decision in the first place. Kinoc knew the plan wasn’t going to work, he just wanted to give them the feeling they were doing something. And in that regard he is pretty evil, yes. You could also say he did this because he knew they would become even more religious and docile afterwards, thus increasing his material and spiritual power.
All of the times Yuna was kidnapped were stupid. The first: they couldn’t have sedated her, because she was just fine when they arrived, and summoning in a cramped area is already stupid, so summoning in a ship’s cabin is asking to be crushed. The second: saying aeons can’t swim is like saying Godzilla can’t destroy Hiroshima because of Tokyo city limits. The third: she didn’t accept the marriage until much much MUCH later, so that’s a pointless argument if you honestly think she just went with them.
As for the not sending, if Seymour exploded twice, then why the hell did he not die? And even if he was indestructible because he’s dead, why wasn’t his body still there?
There WERE the last hope, because the other summoners didn’t do anything. And if you’re trying to save the fucking world, why would you take a break? That’s like the FBI taking a break at Dunkin Donuts while searching for terrorists with nuclear weapons. Besides, didn’t they see Seymour’s presentation, wait in two of Seymour’s waiting room, have pointless banter (A -HA-HA-HA-HA!), AND take a break while Tidus made out with Yuna?
If a few warriors on Chocobos can’t defeat something a 15-year-old thief, a 17-year-old idiot who uses her powers scarcely, a guy with a volleyball as a weapon of choice, and a whiny bitch of a human male can, then charging at Sin with conventional weaponry and an army of only a few hundred of those warriors was a bad idea from the get-go. And don’t you think an entire army would see through the plan’s stupidity before just saying, “Yeah! This plan isn’t stupid at all!” Don’t you think a few would have noticed?
Seriously, THINK before you try to make logic out of something virtually deprived of it.
They really weren’t Spira’s last hope. You have to remember, this battle against Sin has been going on for 1000 years. Every time Sin was defeated, he just came back after a year or two. The world would only be saved for a short time, which they have been hundreds of times. It’s not like Sin would’ve destroyed the world, as the world has been surviving with him for a very long time. Don’t forget, Yuna knew she was going to die when she summoned the final Aeon and defeated Sin. If the world could survive with Sin, there wouldn’t be a need for them to rush as fast as they could to Zanarkand and kill it. And if Yuna knows she’ll die, doesn’t that give her an excuse to take a few breaks along the way and enjoy her last days?
As for Seymour, he was dead those times he exploded. He teleported away, knowing that Yuna would send him from the first time they fought. He still had energy to leave the area, which he used so he wouldn’t be sent. The last battle, he used up all his energy in his final form. He was too weak after his loss to move, and Yuna sent him then.
I agree that all of those Yuna capturings were pretty stupid, but Yuna is pretty much defenseless without her guards. And as for the Aeons being unable to summon in water, isn’t it possible that they just wouldn’t be able to breath? And even if they could hold their breath, Valefor’s sonic wings attack would be useless, and he wouldn’t be able to use any of his ranged attacks. Ifrit would be totally snuffed out. Ixion would just electrocute the entire party, and Shiva would just completely freeze them. And I believe they don’t come across any new Aeons after that point. So as you can see, Aeons are overall useless in water.
Although I agree with you about the pathetic attempt to defeat Sin.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Spoony’s Final Fantasy reviews. Very entertaining. It’s just that a lot of the points he makes about the game are pretty invalid. Yes, the game has a lot of holes, but not as many as he’s making it out to be. For instance, the “giant pool” that they get thrown into: in the game, it’s explained to be an underwater labyrinth. Although why they put in a way out, I’m not sure… And the boss you killed with one hit of a phoenix down? You are aware you don’t HAVE to do that. And besides, I thought that was really cool when I first did it.
Also, in earlier parts of the review, you complained about a pole in Zanarkand. The PS2′s graphics aren’t perfect, it still takes a little imagination. But I still knew that that was a projection screen coming off of the pole. An example of it being an advanced society. Yeah, not so stupid anymore, is it?
There was also the suitcase full of potions: you really didn’t have to take all those potions. You could have stopped at any time.
And did you notice that in the last Cloister of Trials, the screen in the back of the room showed which shapes you had to step on to make appear? Because it did. And it was pretty easy to remember which shapes were where on the grid. Many of the things you said about the game were true, but there were almost as many comments that didn’t make much sense to me. And besides, in the beginning of the review, you said you loved the game’s gameplay (and graphics and music, too, I believe).
Overall, Final Fantasy X is a great game. The story takes some suspension of disbelief (after all, it is Final FANTASY), but when you get past the holes, it is a great game. Highly worthy of its scores.
They really WERE the last hope. Seriously, they were the only few people who had even a chance at defeating him AND actually did something to do it. And if Sin was still around and not destroying the entire world, why did he conveniently show up when Tidus was there? And why the hell was there such an urgency to defeat Sin in the first place if he really wasn’t doing much?
Also, how could Seymour have the energy and ability to teleport away if he was a pile of ashes when he exploded? THINK!
So, there are aeons for every element, but not one that can survive in the most basic of those elements? Again, THINK!
Defeating a monster with a phoenix down IS stupid. Why would something that’s helpful in any form be dangerous to something else? Water is helpful, but in certain forms. Phoenix downs have only one form, and it’s helpful, so what’s the intelligent part in that, especially when it’s in a labyrinth with an exit?
Switching between me and Spoony is not a class thing to do, especially when all you’re doing is trying to debase his argument. So, let me debase yours.
Showing that to prove that it’s the future is like showing a broken cell phone to show it’s the new millennium: it’s pointless when there’s already so much more things to prove it. So yeah, it’s stupider than before.
He only said the last Cloister was tedious, not hard.
The comments didn’t make sense to you because you’re a fan of the game. Any fan of anything don’t comprehend a lot of criticism.
He said from the beginning that the game sucked because of its no-surprises plot, stupid characters, and stupid plot.
Suspension of disbelief only gets you so far. Suspension of disbelief has to do with the setting and characters, not the plot, story, and character development (i.e. lack thereof, though not in the game). And fans of a certain medium are always inclined to say that the games are worthy of all of its praise to debase people’s arguments. I’ve been playing FFX-2 and I like it, but I wouldn’t defend it irrationally like you did just now. Excuse me if I’m not an obsessed fanboy.
NostalgiaKid1:
I’m a fanboy for actually providing coherent arguments for the game? A fanboy would just say the game’s good without anything to back it up.
The last hope for what, exactly? Even if they are, they don’t know it until far into the game. Sin showed up because he’s Tidus’ father, and the urgency was for the next Calm. Didn’t you see Sin rip apart the village?
The explosion WAS him teleporting. Take your own advice.
I’m sorry, I didn’t know there was an underwater village and temple for summoners to make a pilgrimage to. Once again, take your own advice.
Allergies are the perfect example of that. Medicine normally helps you, but if you have an allergy to it, it will harm you, while in the same form. And what’s the harm in including the option to use a phoenix down? You don’t HAVE to do it.
I specifically said I agree with some of Spoony’s points. I’m not only debasing Spoony’s arguments. If you think that’s what I’m doing, you’re crazy. And, “not a class thing to do”?
An object actually having a purpose is stupider than something with no point blaring out of the screen and confusing the player? Quite.
If you see the screen in the back and have a general idea of which shapes are where, it’s not tedious.
The comments didn’t make sense to me because they were invalid, not because I’m a fan of the game. And even if it was because I’m a fan of the game, there has to be a reason for that.
Someone who actually appreciates gaming can overlook one bad aspect of a game, if the others are very good.
Oh, I’m sorry, you caught me on a technicality. You know what I mean by that.
It honestly seems to me that you’re really overthinking the game. You could apply this logic to just about any story, and come up with the same results.
It even seems to me like you’re the converse of a fanboy, hell-bent on destroying this game. Honestly, just look: the game has scored highly with just about every reviewer who looked at it. Go on another site and look. It’s been placed no. 1 in top games of all time lists. See the truth: the vast majority of gaming disagrees.
I largely agree with Lightning1798. I just wanted to say this:
I don’t see how you’re point about why summoning in cramped spaces is stupid refutes the point I made about why she doesn’t. Okay, okay, she’s not “unable”. It’s just a bad idea. Yuna could’ve been sedated. The sedation could’ve worked out by the time her guardians arrived. She could’ve been “just fine” because she used an item or some white magic on herself.
Besides there are other ways they could’ve kidnapped her. They could’ve simply cast sleep or confusion or better yet: they could’ve used such an anti-magic field on her. The third time it is also never explicitly established how the Guado got Yuna, so you can’t say for certain she went against her will. It’s also never explicitly established when exactly she redecides to marry.
I really don’t understand your analogy about Aeons swimming. But even if they could, the water would we problematic to their elemental type and Anima wouldn’t have any place for her chains and I do think swimming in chains and bonds would be quite hard.
I don’t think the attempt to defeat Sin was pathetic. As I’ve said before the soldiers probably could defeat the Chocobo Eater but just couldn’t be bothered with it because they were on their way to battle Sin. It’s also never mentioned they tried to battle the former. They not only tried to kill Sin with conventional weaponry: they had a pretty huge Al Bhed laser cannon as well and a whole line of regular cannons. Sin drops off fiends. There need to be soldiers to fight those too.
Tidus, Yuna and Rikku aren’t just a bunch of teenagers. They have great fighting, magical and mechanical skills respectively. Tidus is referred to as being talented in combat on multiple occasions and also has time magick. Rikku can cause all kinds of mayhem to reign just by combining certain items. You could argue that the whole party comprises out of the most talented individuals in all of Spira. I only agree with Wakka’s weapon being stupid.
Yeah, I actually do think the soldiers wouldn’t see through it. Optimism bias is one reason. And even if there was an enlightened thinker among the soldiers; he would still be a soldier and would have to follow orders. “Oh, just rebel” you might say. I don’t think that would be very wise seeing how Yevon treats its “traitors”. Auron and Kinoc knew it wouldn’t work but Yevon is corrupt and keeps such information from the masses and even if Auron did start a riot it probably wouldn’t have made that much of a difference.
Yuna couldn’t have used white magic or an item WHILE SHE’S SEDATED, YOU IDIOT! Furthermore, I doubt they would use a sedative that lasts a few minutes if they locked her up in a room. And them using confusion or sleep on her meant that she would’ve had to use an item, so that’s a stupid theory.
What I meant when I talked about summoning in cramped areas was that it’s common fucking sense that you wouldn’t summon a huge monster in a small room. Also, the analogy about aeons swimming has to do with the certain limits aeons have to abide by, even though aeons have been summoned underwater before.
Tidus, Yuna, and Rikku ARE just a bunch of teenagers, only with some exceptional skills. And that’s not even my real problem. My problem is just that they got the people with exceptional skills, but only one of each skill.
Yes, it was stupid to try to defeat Sin with just an army of Chocobo warriors, because if your outnumber or overpowered, then the logic would be to call for backup. Trying to defeat it alone NEVER works. And I doubt an ENTIRE ARMY would succumb to blind ambition to a point where they just charge at it. Their chances were very noticeably slim to everyone, so yeah, that IS stupid. And considering they only had ONE laser cannon, which was destroyed very quickly, it was as pathetic as ten guys with shotguns and 1 grenade each trying to fight Optimus Prime.
Thumbs up for doomtrain up your ass!
Seriouly though, I had no problem with the game when I played it, then again, I love the FF games, well, maybe not XIII but come on…. But I see your point, and the fact that I love them so makes your reviews extreamly funny to watch. Keep up the good work, I want to see you do FFXIII and FFXII. And for the love of all that is good and pure, play FF IX, it’s awesome…. or else I guess you just got another game to review, hehe.
I have a hatred for those people that enjoy this game so much that they bothered to thumbs-down every good comment bashing the game, and give the video 1 star. News flash: just because you love a game doesn’t mean you have to go and demean the video and everyone’s comments. The game is stupid, no matter what you say or do.
P.S. I’m looking forward to FFX2.
I’m afraid the high majority of gaming media is against you on that last point.
You think that just because “the majority of gaming” approve of a game doesn’t make it shit? The majority of gaming also approve of Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, a confusing-as-hell, boring excuse for a game. I’ve seen a shitload of shitty games that have gotten major praise. Hell, Wikipedia says Tidus, an annoying, self-absorbed, whiny character was “well-received”. If you honestly think just because a bunch of critics like it (when the majority of critics never look beyond gameplay, and ignore all aspects of logical storytelling), that makes it a good game, you’re in for a long miserable cycle of hype and disappointment, my friend. And if you honestly think that just because “the majority of gaming” like a game justifies demeaning all points of criticism, then you really need to look into a little thing called “rational thinking”.
I like your reviews Spoony, but have to disagree with your opinions on FFVIII and FFX. I loved those games, they’re some of my favorite game of all-time. Sure they had their flaws, but nothing is perfect. I like you Spoony, but I have to put my foot down and say other wise about these games.
“He’s as intimidating as team rocket.” Awesome. xD
And I love the ending!
…Now I’m gonna… dissapear.
Very nice review. There are so many better Final Fantasy games out there. I did like the beast creatures though even if I wish they were werewolves instead…The image of a dog singing slayer is awesome. “Ruff Ruff Rufffff Ruffff Grrrr Grr Bark Woof!”
I’m surprised during the Sin’s song sequence that you didn’t throw in “We Are the World.” Would’ve been perfect.
Spoony, don’t worry about your life’s work and Final Fantasy. You will be remembered for many other things. Final Fantasy will be one of the best among them though. Fantastic review.
so PS2 games are now retro? they still freakin sell them at wallmart!
nice to see the spoony one has posted this on blistered thumbs, cant wait to see what his next review is, and if you wanna see epic spoony rage, watch his highlander endgame and highlander the source reviews, that is just epic rage lol
Oh my GOD this was an EPIC FINALE!
I loved the MegaDeth section and the Persona4 Reference near the end!
More power to Spoony!
Awesome review. I’m still amazed that even though these reviews were months apart, they still flow from one to the next so easily. Excellent work. I can’t wait to see more……. Seriously, no waiting. DANCE, MONKEY! DANCE!
*waits to be bitch-slapped*
ps: the uwe boll joke made my laugh tears :`) n1
This is the first time I saw you , spoony , talkin ´bout FF (just watched the phantasmagoria thingy completely…and some other reviews) . anyway i totally agree with you.
Back when I was a kid I played ff8 and it fn blasted my mind after a few years ff got my attention back and my parents bought me ff x for the ps2.
this was an epic fn rage.
i would rather go and play ff1 on the nes (not even the very nicely redone stuff for the gba) than this shitty clusterfuck -_-
I just hate this game so much. It´s taking for ever and the movie sequences are so loooong.Go and produce movies but stop fucking with 2 of the best companies my roleplaying heart ever had!
after saying this… thank you for ripping this piece of shit apart. i´ll kiss your ring sire
Was…was that Satino’s Air Trombone you pulled out during the celebration montage?
Despite it’s flaws I liked FFX anyways. But i can not argue that the last boss was a joke
Although I thought it was a really good review I have a few nitpicks:
-You say “numerous times before” at the second Seymour boss fight.
-They went to Zanarkand because they thought the Final Aeon would have a chance of defeating Sin permanently. They only chose not to because Yunalesca told them Sin would be eternal no matter what they did.
I also find it somewhat of a letdown you didn’t comment on the ending. After Auron dies there are still about 20 minutes of movies left. Like Sin blowing up, Tidus’ and Yuna’s parting, the statues of the fayths petrifying completely, Yuna’s speech and yes the sequel bait for FFX-2 showing that Tidus is in fact still alive.
I also wished you would’ve commented on the numerous sidequests and the extra Aeons you can get. Because I though a lot of the sidequests were quite tedious. I did however like the extra Aeons.
Still looking forward to when the time of FFX-2 comes. FFX looks like gold compared to that trash.
I had already watched this twice from Spoony Experiment site. What I have to say is it was about time. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not ungrateful or anything but this was long wait.
Well, you’ve fused with your Shadow, so does that mean you have a Persona now?
Just reposting my comment from the TGWTG stite, since the link is now directly going here : D
Gahahaha!Incredible review! Though I still think that FFX is an OK-good game but oh well, no point in arguing! (What about 12? I thought it was worse than 13, and I’d rather play 10-2 than 12 -___-;;)
Now please do a series on FFIX! 83
I love the game and it would be so fun to watch it getting thorn to shreds. Think about all the Quina hate, furry jokes and THE RETURN OF THE CARD GAME!
“Have a heart will ya?”
As funny as expected – but like your FF8 review, I didn;t care for the ending
I’ll admit, it was better than the hackneyed ending to this game.
Still though, I defend FFX as an above-average title (not 4th ever, because come on…). The combat system and the game’s extras more than make up for a somewhat lackluster story, and even though certain elements were overused it was quite clever in places!
Also, stop hating on FFXIII! That game’s much better than X, even though it gets over angsty at parts, it’s still quite good overall.
And why didn’t you at any point yell “THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE” during the fight?
Geezis, don’t ever dress up as Titus again! Think of the children! Your nipples may scar them for life & turn them into water polo deviants!

Recently I picked up Dragon Quext IX and suddenly remembered “Oh yeah, Enix is apart of square enix.” And it made me wonder what exactly happened to the Square part of that company that made them go from FFVI to mess they’re in now. While the DQ formula has stayed true, it seems that any attention given to FF is focused mainly in its graphics.
Spoony this was your best video ever! I bet Scarlett wants you to dress up as Tidus every night when you go to bed huh? mwah hah hah!!!
Great video. Very funny. Of course I disagree with your opinions in pretty much every way possible (except in regards to FF14 cause there is no defense for that piece of shit), having loved X and X-2, along with VIII being my favorite FF until XIII (my 2nd favorite game of 2010 behind Mass Effect 2) came out. But hey, people having dissenting views is what makes the world great (“The More You Know”) and I can still laugh at your stuff, so its all good. Now, if we can just get more FMV Hell someday, I will be very happy indeed.
Not sure if the comment I made at TGWTG is still there, so I’ll shorten what I said.
Good job Spoony. I’ve been waiting to see how the finale to the review would turn out and you definitely didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the video a lot and I loved pretty much the entire bit at the end, although Meg Ryan Spoony stood out and the Persona 4 reference was nicely placed.
You know, although I agree with most of your complaints, I can’t help but like FFX. I liked the battle system enough to glaze over many plot annoyances, as long as I ignored Tidus and payed attention to Auron as much as possible. I honestly think the story was okay; not good or terrible, but okay. Despite my like, I still can see the myriad of faults the game has and I laughed at every one you pointed out that I agreed with.
Still, while FFX may hold a special place for me, X-2 holds no such honor. It was a cash-in through and through and there were so many problems that it couldn’t be ignored. Never have I played a game with a main story that felt as superfluous as this one. However, that can wait till the inevitable review.
All in all, you did a great job on this review Spoony. I can only hope you aren’t lost in the Blag ‘ole again due to Pumpkinhead’s death or something like that.
How long can someone bitch about one game.
People like Final Fantasy Spoony. Get the fuck over it.
45 thumbs down and counting.
He’s a video game reviewer. That’s his job. When someone bashes on one game you like they don’t mean the whole series. This game is shit anyway.
Yaaay! I’ve been waiting months mor another Spoony FF review!
FF X-2 or FF13 please review next
