It may look harmless, but this undead monster will stop at nothing to eat your cerebellum.

Yes, it’s true: Sega is reviving the Dreamcast collection. In the past, Sega has shown remarkable business acumen when it comes to the value of their back catalogue (their handling of current franchises not withstanding) and in an appropriately savvy move, they’ve announced the release of a small collection of Dreamcast titles for the PC and the X360.

Like their release of Genesis classics to downloaders all over the world, it seems as though Sega’s decided to dip into the assets from their sadly left behind competitor to the Original Sony Playstation. At Sega’s Website we are clearly informed that on the 22nd of February, PC and Xbox 360 users can expect the release of a package of Dreamcast titles including:
Sonic Adventure
Crazy Taxi
Space Channel 5: Part 2
Sega Bass Fishing

Though a slim selection for a first release, with a little customer support, who knows what other titles they might dig up from the vault.

That’s a pretty terrible collection imo, two of the games are already on XBLA, and PSN.

And were people really screaming for a fishing game?

The funny thing is that both Space Channel 5 and Sega Bass Fishing are slated to get a PSN/XBLA release, making this disc completely irrelevant. I’m sure I can get these games on other consoles for less than what this disc will retail for so, unlike the Genesis collection, I think I’ll pass on this one.

It’s $10 cheaper if you buy the disc instead of getting all four separately and you save yourself massive amounts of space on your 360. So it’s not entirely too irrelevant.

Good, maybe if they gain enough revenue from this they’ll FINALLY complete the Shenmue series…

    Yeah… unlikely… but I can dream can’t I?

Can we this time get Crazy Taxi with the original soundtrack and brand labels intact, though? o:

Except that would cost a lot of money. Licensing fees are a difficult thing to do. Should even one license run out, it would mean Sega would have to remove Crazy Taxi from the download services and halt production on the disc unless they renew.

That and Tower Records is long gone.

I know it was for Sega Saturn and not Dreamcast but….Panzer Dragoon Saga!

Never gonna happen. Sega lost the source code to Panzer Dragoon Saga. It was confirmed with the creator in an interview on 1Up that that’s the reason no remake or port has ever surfaced.

Would be great if they bring Phantasy Star Online back on over XBLA or PSN…but that may be a pipedream.

PSO ain’t gonna happen. For starters, the Dreamcast versions were horribly flawed for various reasons involving thieves and what not. Second, Sega’s already working on PSO2 for the PC. There’d be no point in reviving PSO. Especially when Blue Burst officially shut down last month in Japan.

Sega Bass Fishing is surprisingly fun. I don’t play fishing games and I just love the arcade style of Sega Bass Fishing.

And yet somehow, I doubt they’d ever include Shenmue. Eh, fine…so long as they give that it’s own release. HD Shenmue 1 and 2, man…do it.

Sad that it’s only Sega made games, or else I would totally slap down money for Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Soul Calibur and Skies of Arcadia.

I realize you’re in a hurry to tell every single person on here why they’re wrong (at least, based on the comments I read that’s all you’re doing), however please try ACTUALLY READING what people say.

Their heart is in the right place, and I know it would be hard to please all of the fans no matter how hard they tried, but I’d like to see more titles that aren’t already available on PSN and XBLA.
