Ashens takes a look at a hilariously bad game with a really, really dull name.

Er, they just ripped-off that plot from the 2000 AD strip Slaine, didn’t they? It’s almost exactly the same apart from the fact that it isn’t set on Earth(which means calling it “The Land Of The Young”, a reference from celtic mythology, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever).

Ashens, would you kindly tell me the names of the games that you show on the 6:38 mark? the images strongly remind me of a game that i saw in a magazine long ago but never was able to play it or remember is name. Thx

      In order they are:

      Shadow of the Beast 2
      Leander
      Pro Powerboat Simulator

Leander was converted to the Mega Drive under the title ‘Legend of Galahad’ (Just ‘Galahad’ in the USA.)

Speakign of Leander/Galahad, You know an episode about Western games using anime graphics would be quite interesting for an episode. There’s quite a few! Switchblade is the most obvious. And well, Oni to groom my own ego :D

There was an isometric RPG as well, forgotten the name. Oh, and Risky Woods on the Amiga.

Ashens, i think its time for you to behold a game for The Sinclair ZX Spectrum made in Argentina in 1988 programed in assembler z80.

1 guy alone made this prototype to see if its up for sales but there wasn’t many companies back then maybe for the software piracy (my thought is that the NES finally arrived to Argentina by importing the NES of japan named Famicom so maybe was more simple than making one)

The Game itsself its a plataformer and mostly you can jump on objects to avoid most of the enemy because you dont have an attack. YOU gain one if you collect 8 pieces of a laser scattered among the temple but unfortunelly you can only use it on the final (and only boss) and you reward is congratulation screen. Did i mention that if you die you have to restart over from zero?

I no longer have a copy of it so you may find it here:
        http://www.relaxate.com/emuladores/sinclair/jugar-spectrum.php?id=1575&juego=Murtrum+En+El+Templo+De+Cepec

there is the page of the maker:
        http://www.megaoffice.com.ar/m/foro/tema/191.0.juegos_de_ordenador.murtrum_en_el_templo_de_cepec.html

Wow…as an argentinian that makes me proud!….not.
I wanna see that game reviewed by Ashens, please!!
It’s true what you say about Nes. We never got the nes, just the Famicom and its smaller cartridges. And of course, thousands of Genesis rip-offs.

We Argentinians were always screwed game-wise one way or the other, so almost nothing good comes out when we try to make a game ourselves. Take 2006′s adventure-game “Scratches” as an example. As a side note, I still have the Famicom; “Family Game” we used to call it. It doesn’t work anymore, but I keep it since it was a big part of my childhood.

No Sax was a good game for the 8-bits. They returned to form with the sequel though, which is arguably one of the worst games released for the the ZX Spectrum.

If it goes only about titles i consider milk & nuts, eric & the floaters and raid on bumbling bay even worse, and that are titles i don’t even have to dig up. :)

and just when I was worried that TOGYNHO was gone never to be seen again, the good Dr. Ashens returns! I’m especially excited for the newly announced Tatmas on his YouTube channel, but anyway, this video.

This actually doesn’t appear to be as bad as the previous games on this show. I mean, he managed to get to a sort of miniboss. Still, it looks worse than anything I’ve played.

Yeah, they couldn’t even successfully use the constant threat of instant death to make a nighttime walk less boring.
