Say what you will about the insane things a gamer would buy. I still believe that buying the replica of Frostmourne is quite the bizarre use of spending your hard (or easy) earned money, but an MMO gamer showed the world last week that there were much more ways to spend cash on something so much more fleeting.
On November 21st, 2010, an unknown man who drove up to The Place in Bejing, a site in the city known for the place where “Everyone in Bejing looks up”, slapped down a folding chair, opened his notebook PC and started rocking the MMO gaming on 7500 square feet of screen for 10 minutes. Massively found out that the game of choice for this savvy gamer is Magic World Online 2. I would be laughing if this were a publicity stunt, but it looks like the guy had no affiliation with SDO, the game’s publisher.
“So how much DID this cost?” you wonder. Insiders, unsure if it people who know the details of the deed via the gamer or people who work with the LED sky screen at The Place, have disclosed that it would have cost him around $15,000 US to play for the duration. 15 thousand!
Fifteen Thou-No. I can’t do it. I’m going to go cry in the corner at my poorness. Here, here’s a video. Discuss amongst yourselves. *sob*

I’d play my mage on WoW on that screen…
for free.
Bump that, man! 15k?!
Wow….. what a lame.
Who the hell would pay 15,000 bones for 10 minutes of play time (well obviously this douche), rich or not, that’s just a serious waste of cash.
And a MMO on top of it all!!! At least take advantage of the big screen if your gonna drop that kind of cash. Shadow of the colossus, God of War even A FPS would have been a better idea than a MMO.
Some people just make my brain hurt.
this story hurts my brain for several reasons. one: its 15 000 for ten minutes ,althou you know this guy is loaded, but my current economic predicament wants me to punch him in the face. and two: you picked a lame ass MMO?? i mean not Crysis? or something you know that takes advantage of a huge ass screen. ackk! my brain!
Seconded – talk about wasted opportunities! Play something cool and artsy, at the very least – Shadow of the Colossus, anyone?
Crysis….meh.
You have to admit…that’d be pretty sweet. But the price instantly makes it so retarded that you forget how cool something like that would be. I mean hell, he could be play something awesome like Mortal Kombat on that! Geez!
Woooah…. o_o Free advertising! I bet the game company liked that.
I always thought it’d be fun to play a video game in the cinema, but not on the ceiling, and not for $15000……
² about the purpose of that screen pariah.
Also, is it handy to play on such a big screen and always having to look up? Don’t think so, can’t say money well spend
If i had the money to game on that screen, i certainly wouldn’t game on that screen! Can’t help but wonder what the point of having a giant screen hanging there is, though.
