Dance Central, touted as the killer app for the Kinect, is a game that makes dancing fun for everyone. While it lacks variety in terms of different modes, its core game play is a ton of fun.

Dance Central – Angry Review, 10.0 out of 10 based on 1 rating
Dance Central was touted as the must-have title for the Kinect since before it was even released, and it’s easy to see why. With the Rock Band series under their belt, Harmonix has a really impressive track record when it comes to creating excellent music-based games. Do they live up to that with Dance Central, or will the game have you never wanting to hear a Lady Gaga track again?
| PROS | Core game play is an absolute blast |
| CONS | Lacking in different modes and ways to play |
| WTF?! | There’s a real dance move called Keyboard Cat? |
The core game play of Dance Central has you dancing along with in-game flashcards that pop up on the right side of the screen. While this happens, a person on the screen will dance along to the music as an ensemble of excited people cheer them (and you) on. You really won’t be able to spend a ton of time looking at the dancer, though, as the only way to brace yourself for impending moves is to watch the flashcards closely. At first, the dancer and the flashcards compete for your attention as you try to get the moves down just right. In time, you will find yourself capable of performing songs without the need for flashcards, and the option to turn them off is available. When the initial shame subsided, I was proud of my ability to dance along to Lady Gaga’s Poker Face entirely from memory.
The game’s ability to detect your every movement is thoroughly impressive, if not frustrating. There were quite a few moments where I was fairly certain I was doing a move just right, only to find that I was doing it incorrectly because of placing my arm or leg just barely astray from where they should have been. The precision doesn’t hinder the fun in the least, but it will definitely have you retrying songs – particularly when playing on either medium or hard mode – in the same way Rock Band does.
Dancing is not something that comes easy to most of us, but Harmonix has found a way to make it an absolute blast. Some songs are harder than others, and some moves are hard to get down just right, but the rewarding feeling when you do it correctly makes it more than worthwhile. I’m a pretty bad dancer, and I don’t have a very strong sense of rhythm, and I still found myself grooving to the music with ease after a bit of time with the game.
Dance Central allows you to perform any song you want from the second you put the disc in, but there are still difficulty modes and items to be unlocked. If you beat a song on easy with three stars, then you can progress to the medium version of that song. If you get three stars on medium, then you can play the song on hard. The songs themselves are broken into tiers, with each tier containing five tracks of varying difficulties. They’re supposed to be sorted by their level of difficulty, but difficulty is an extremely subjective concept in this game. I found myself having much less trouble with songs at the bottom of the list than I did with some songs near the top.
The ability to perform every song right away makes local multiplayer an even better experience, but it also feels as though a career mode was sacrificed to make way for that ability. While there is a ranking system of sorts that you will constantly be cashing into as you perform songs, there is no story mode or option to tether songs together to perform them all at once. Perhaps I’m spoiled from being so used to having these things in Rock Band titles, but the lack of those options makes Dance Central feel a little bit bare bones in terms of what it has to offer. They could have created a career mode where you played as an up-and-coming dancer looking to make it big, but unfortunately we are left without the option to play the protagonist in a riveting dance story.
I want to give this bad boy a try sadly I can’t!T_T
This could be good exercise
I WANT THIS GAME!!!
Even though I can’t stand dancing, this looks strangely entertaining.
hmm so far it seems like the only good kinect game :O
mtv games made thiss
sweet
Eh… Not crazy about dance games.
What I dont get with games like these is why should I buy and play this when I can just go out and dance/sing with friends?
I would definitely play this if I had a 360 and kinect haahhaha. Looks like it could be a good time though id probably board up my windows while playing xD
This is the worst “review’ I have ever read. You suck at reviewing. Dance Central was a horrible game. Anyone that liked that game is a god dammed moron.
Dant, if I were you I would give up on reviewing games and take up a different hobby, like sucking Microsoft’s cock. Oh wait you are already doing that.
i liked the special effects used for freestyle mode
i rika da ddr so i might check this game out too
It sucks that the only good Kinect game is not my cup of tea.
Ah why do I keep watching and reading reviews for games I want but can’t afford?!?!
I imagine if my sister loves just dance on the wii she’d really love this…
Best of the kinect lauch titles.
Argree, this game looks awsome. But dont want to get gougth playing it, i would look silly xD
Looks cool, and horribly awkward…
Maybe this game can teach me to dance!
I gotta say, I was surprised at how much fun this game is, especially with two people.
i wanna play it for keyboard cat!
dance central is the only good kinect game out there it a must have
well i would rather dance and fail in frount of my girlfriend then play sonic riders
i have to be honest I don’t like the look of the kinect. but that doesn’t mean i don’t think this would be an awesome game. I really am just going to wait until other games come out to see if the kinect will be worth the price or not.
cant wait to get this looks really fun
at least kinect has 1
= |
Kinect seems to really be backing the casual audience right now though; so I think I’ll wait for Child of Eden to come out and change the playing field.
Dancing games seems to be Kinect’s top priority at this point, I’d like to see how Microsoft will introduce other genre’s into this full body motion control.
Dance Central’s where it’s at baby
Angry Joe kinda reviewd this already, wicked funny
Can’t wait for Angry Joe’s review
It’s going to be great!
Dance Central is the main reason why I want kinect
THIS makes me want the Kinect more and more.
my friend loves it and im pretty sure im gonna like it too!
This is what I call a Dance Simulator. Not those things like DDR and ParaPara.
There, you are dancing.
Only thing I don’t like about this game – little amount of songs.
it looks fun
I honestly couldn’t dance while playing a videogame…I would feel really really stupid.
yeah, that’s why you don’t play this when anyone is around. It’s ok to feel stupid when your all alone, lol.
This Looks Kinda Epic ! I dont play much motion games but when i do there usualy A GREAT BLAST OF FUN Time with my friends
Even though I look ridiculous when I play, it’s the most fun I’ve had in years when it comes to games.
i probs shouldn’t get this for myself
i want that game
Am I the only person who thinks Dance Central is stupid?!?!?!!
Awesome review Dant!
I enjoyed the game quiet a bit, even though its kinda hard for me. :3 And did really wish that I could play it simultaneously with someone.. but overall, I still think its one of the better games out for the Kinect!
I played it for the first time at Shadocon earlier this month, and though I was amazingly horrible at it, it wasn’t as lame as I thought it would be. I don’t play Guitar Hero or Rockband or Wii Sports or nothing like that, so this was a nice little change in gaming for me.
This looks like an ok game, they do make you go all out with the sillyness of dancing, and it probobly a blast to play with
Hehehe, a game that actually may make owning a 150-dollar camera worth the investment.
I want to play this game so badly :/
Of all my years of gaming I’ve never played a dance game. I think it’s time I pop that cherry.
I rented it, didn’t think it was worth my time afterwards…
A video game. That teaches you how to dance. And Rock Band 3 will be able to teach you to play guitar. It’s like they’re TRYING to get us girlfriends.
As far as I know this is the only game on the Kinect worth something right now. Hell, worth it in the end, it seems like a ton of fun!
We were playing kinect adventures till about 12am the first night I had people over for the we, we saw a two song demo for dance central, weplayed those 2 songs for an hour, contimplating anywhere that would sell us one at 1am… after thinking of no place we bought it the next morning, and are now having everyone over again just to play it! Dance Central is like DDR on crack! A++
I was thinking this would be fun for a game night, but the lack of two player definitely makes that a problem.
Looks fun but not 170 dollars fun.
Looks fun, but I’m fat…. Must not have heartattack and die while gaming…
I think the reason this game succeeds is because of Harmonix’s amazing team and that it’s like Just Dance but obviously without the controller. So there’s a large appeal to parents which is a really huge chunk of sells.
I could use a game that makes me get my fat ass off the couch. And if I can dance like fool while doing it, all the better.
I am so on the fence about Kinect I really don’t got the money for it. But even if I did this is the only game that interests me. So is it really worth it to buy Kinect for just one game?
Looks awesome, but I’m generally not into dance games. I’ll definitely try it if a friend picks it up.
If I could afford a Kinect this would definitely be an immediate purchase.
want to play but dont have enough for a kinect yet maybe soon, cant wait to see angry joes review
I don’t know, personally, I jumped on to the music rhythm games bandwagon late, with my first title being Guitar Hero 3. I still like playing the Guitar Hero games now, even if they are saturated and will never exceed Guitar Hero Metallica’s awesomeness, but with Dance Central, it just doesn’t really look like my cup of tea. Most likely due to the fact that I can’t dance (and for the sake of my dignity, may not want to attempt to), I may not also grow to liking the music selections (Lady Gaga is certainly going to be skipped for me).
This would probably be the only game I’d get if I get a kinect
this is the only reason i’d get a kinect
This looks like 1 of 2 reasons to buy a Kinect right now, seems like an awesome party game!
Man I really want to try out this game, but I really don’t thinks its worth spending $200 just for one game X_X
I don’t want to buy a Kinect, but I really want to play this game. Hopefully someone I know buys one for me to try out.
I want to play this, but i have no kinect
This is the game I bought the Kinect for and so far its been a blast! The issue is the relatively barebones extras – They are already developing a Dance Central 2 so we shall see what exactly they add to the table with it.
dont forget the DLC already out and more on the way. Hopefully Harmonix finds a new home soon before working on the sequel
At least it should be more forgiving than DDR…Should be being the key term >///>
I would say “Finally, a game for the dancing impaired!” but then I’d feel silly

u kno, i played dance central yesterday for the first time with friends from my church, gota say joe, u are like a master compare, we were so awful that we danced three times on the song poker face, which is the easiest song but we put it on the hardest difficulty, we can only get to 2 stars. im considering buying a kinect, but gota solve the problem of not having ppl play it with me. but it was so funny everyone was laughing on their backs.
I’m seriously considering buying a Kinect and a copy of Dance Central so I can get some exercise.
I actually enjoyed this game a lot! I just wished I had more time to play it because it is a very entertaining and it hilarious to play with your friends. The best is when you watch the play back from the freestyle.
Being a dancer myself, this is the one game I’ve been waiting for the most in 2010
there are more danceing games aren’t there??
You should have a dance off with a few people and find out not only who is the best dancer but also which of the games that are the best
If I ever get Kinect, I will look forward to getting this.
I don’t have any friends at the moment so the lack of career mode is kind of a deal breaker for me. Since the sequel is already in production I guess I will wait for that.
I hope that that Kinect will start killing the Wii.
Angry Joe do you pay 150 dollars for the Kinect + the game to looks this much stupid and gay >_<
well congratulation!! that was so f*king stupidly funy hahahah = D
ps: enjoy the video but dont buy this sh*t unless you got a awesome hot girlfriend who will dance naked all day for you.
Awesome review! Lol, watching Joe dance is hilarious! XD
This game is so far the only game that makes me kinda want a Kinect. Lol, I love dancing games, they’re so much fun!
Thanks for this, Joe. I can actually give a confident, positive reason to tell people to buy a Kinect while working.
This is the only Kinect game I’m interested in playing. The other games look meh.
one more time!!!!
I’m a big music fan (no real genre preference). I can’t help but look at this and think: This looks fun.
A great review. And real funny too! The best in as long as I can remember.
when i saw joe dancing in the beggining of the video i just can stop to laught xD one of the funny reviews and very informative is suck that you can’t made your owm avatar in the game but still keep looking pretty fun
Sweet! I didn’t think much of this game before I saw this Angry Review. But now I am scurred no more!
Finally feels like I’ve got a real good reason to treat myself a 360!
Now all we’re waiting for is a dance off between Angry Joe, Marzgurl & Benzaie!!!!
ps: pretty cool with so many comments! ^^
still seems a lot to pay for an add on, but then I suck at the Wii so I’m sure that’s part of my lack of interest
Oh YEA DANCE CENTRAL !!!!!! YESSS so the release of kinect was not piontless !!! ahh this game looks like a PAAAATEEEEY !!!! yea this is worth buying .. LONG LIVE ANGRY JOE The Most Honest Man Ever Lived !!!!
Please review Def Jam Rapstar, Joe!
I love this review. It definitely makes the Kinect look worthwhile, but I’ll probably wait until Dance Central 2 comes out (when the Kinect will be a bit cheaper) to buy it. One game doesn’t make the add-on.
I lov this game
I wasnt sure what to think of this game, but now I’m excited to give it a try
I wanna play but IDK, is it better or worse dance 2 on the Wii?
Meh, I want Headbang Hero.
Good review Joe, it got me pumped up to try it, even though I’m a terrible dancer xD
First, let’s safe some money to buy a xbox lol xD
wish i had an xbox
Well if the Kinect is just really a glorified dance peripheral that kind of sucks and judging by the quickness the companies are starting to pump out these dancing games for it I hope that’s not the entire future for this device. I dunno this looks like fun and if someone i know ever gets it or if it’s at a party, I’m so in. All said I won’t be buying a kinect until it becomes more then a peripheral for dancing games. $200(device plus game) is to much. I couldn’t justify the rock band purchases either (seriously games being almost as much or as much as the machines that run them?)because its not something i could see myself doing alone and I’d only use it when friends are over. I hope the future leads this device down other paths then simply being a universal dancing game peripheral. Well unless the price drops by 50% then I’ll buy one.
You Rule Joe
YESSS! I’ve been waiting for you to review this one. Can’t wait to see what Dance Central 2 has in store for everyone!
Pretty even handed review Joseph. I’ve been playing Dance Central for the last week, and I’m not sure I can really disagree with you on any of your points.
It creates weird goals in people from what I’ve seen. I for example really want to master all the dance moves for the Soulja boy and Satisfaction songs, because they’re so damn fun and ridiculous looking, I want to be able to do those anywhere and anytime.
Also lol @ the guy talking about corporate trickery and how you should read your dance steps in a book. You sound like a real riot at parties.
Maybe later we can all gather around an audio tape about art, and smell it.
i still dont wanna shell out the money for kinect…maybe if there are better releases in the future
I want to get this game, but a few things have to fall my way before I can do it. Mainly I don’t want to shell out $200+ only to find out there’s not a way to configure my current apartment to use it properly. It’s something I’m keeping my eye on, though, as I love the tech side of it, at the least.
I know it’s the Kinect’s Killer App and I love Harmonix, so I’m thinking of purchasing the game, even if I can’t use it, to support the companies involved and help see where this winds up going in the future.
Good stuff Joe, I can’t wait to see the extra footage from this lol I can’t remember, but are you going to be at Magfest? If you are, please, for all that is good in this world, bring this!!! Channel Awesome Dance Central party for the win!!!!
This seems really fun its another good reason to get a 360.
Oh well, there will always be a sequel to add those features you want to see.
Its kind of big when it dont have an online option
I’ll just wait for Dance Central 2. Then maybe Joe’ll review it. And THEN I’ll hand my moneh to Microsoft for the Kinect.
What we need is a revival of bust a groove on the kinect! THAT would be amazing =D
What, no Party Boy, Joe? LOL…just kidding. But if this game can teach me how to not suck at dancing, then maybe it would be a good investment…
Hm, this makes me want a kinect. This sounds like a lot of fun.
I wish I had a kinect…and an Xbox 360, but I have a PS3. Which really does bring up the question just why I watch Angry Joe when I’ll probably never see a PS3 exclusive review out of him.
This. But if DC 2 builds on the formula enough, I will probably wind up buying a 360 to play it – that just looks so bad ass!
Done and Dusted? fuck, I used to work for these guys on a Television show.
Whaha, love the moves that the tiny white silhouette Joe makes at the end of the video xD
Hawt. All I gotta say. Joe, you are a sexy sexy man.
Though, I’m still waiting for a Goth Goth Revolution or, even better, a Shimmy Shimmy Revolution. Get some bellydance training up in this house! But, that may just be me.
Looks fun, but not enough to spend the cash on a Kinect just yet.. at lest in my opinion
Bust a move for a piece of chicken, that ain’t no crime!
I don’t think I’d buy the Kinect just to play this, but if any of my friends get it, I’ll pick this up.
Looks like a blast
Also, If some more great games come out for it, then I will definitly look into getting a kinect.
Great review Angry Joe! I love how enthusiastic you were. It was hilariously awesome. X-D
I really don’t want to see you’re taco joe.
lol Great review
I have to try this game!
Don’t Be Scured!!!
Joe, with this video you are officially my man crush.
I hope that’s not gay.
Seriously though. I applaud the balls it takes to push past the barriers of “manliness” that most games allow us to comfortably remain behind, and just get silly and have a blast. This was definitely your most entertaining video to date.
this is the best review i have seen of this game,
nice work joe
And there went Joe’s manhood…
That’s great but I want something with a bigger challenge. Dances that feature Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire with their dancing routines and we try to dance it. Now that is a good dancing game.
Interesting idea of yours. So maybe a Fred Astaire: Ballroom Edition? Wonder who would buy that. Who knows what’s now possible because of Kinect. Dance games could become the next big thing for the gaming industry. At least Angry Joe has better dance moves than I do. :}
This is one of those games you just have to play with people, the thing is, i don’t have many friends to play (lol is not like it’s a bad thing) and the fact that im not paying so much just for dancing infront of the kinect.
I rather wait for it and see what happens with it on the future, probably it will get better, but im still a PS3 user anyways
Nice review Joe
i like ddr so i think i might like this game
I really want to give it a try now but I don’t think I would give up playing ddr. Its just fun going to the arcade right after eating and jump around to hit some arrows while looking like a tard >3
Am I the only one that noticed that the “Second opinion” on this review…is this review?
Some kinda glitch or something?
How can you, and so many others, be fooled into corporate trickery?
Dancing has been around since music. This is nothing new.
You play it for learning the dance moves? I’m sure theres less-expensive books and dvds that teach you how to dance.
Unless your unable to walk, no point in playing a dancing game. Specially if it has no controllers.
This statement confuses me so much it hurts.
Because dancing has been around since the invention of music (in fact before that), it is corporate trickery to sell a game based on it? Damn that Microsoft, next they will be copying man’s great love of sport and violence to make us part with our money.
A dance game is definitely not worth playing if it has no controller? So having a controller that limits your movement possible inputs is better than a free-form motion sensor? Surely dancing is one of the best things to appear for a system that doesn’t require a controller.
You Sir….I don’t have words to describe what you are, but you are one.
Yeah, I’m with Yousif here. I know it might be hard to understand, but some people like to dance. Much like some people like to sing and thus fell in love with Rockband’s mic controller, and much as some people fell in love with the dance pad for DDR, this device allows for a fantastic outlet for people who enjoy these things. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this tech to come out for a while. I hated trying to use the DDR controller because I found it set me off-balance when dancing, and most of the dance forms I prefer have less foot movement and more hip and upper body motion. I was only half joking when I suggested Goth Goth Revolution or Shimmy Shimmy Revolution… I honestly WOULD play the hell out of something like that.
I really can’t fathom your rationale, BabyImplosion. Seriously. You make zero sense.
Seems like a good game, if I had a Kinect I would consider it. But Crank Dat is on there and I hate that song, especially after learning what “Superman” means.
J3 is gay and cringe inducing
atleast joe will become a good dancer
You MUST kidnap Spoony and Linkara and get them to do this with you! The results will make the universe a more glorious place to live in!
Spoony and Benzaie
I dont know if the third-party developers are able to control the kinects movement but if they are a multiplayer dance-off game is definetly possible. Just have one player dance for a bit then insert a “hand it off” move and swivel the camera to the other guy. Sure its not simultaneous dancing but if done right it would look just like the cheesy dance-offs in certain movies. You could even have multiple dance-routines for the same song with various difficulties and allow them to pick one of those so they don’t have to do the same moves. Harder moves give more points if you get them right and maybe the players could even choose which parts of the track they want to dance on which difficulty. Though that might break the flow when playing at a party because the two would just stand there going through the whole song just to pick the moves before dancing.
Well.. I comes a long way from the (up,down, left, right) buttons on pc dance games.
Joe, I honestly lost it when I saw you guys dancing. Especially your freestyle on Evacuate the Dancefloor, but you guys’ dancing overall. I had to pause the video at times because I was afraid I’d wake my family or neighbors up.
Damn, I should have asked for a Kinect for Christmas and this game…
I don’t think that an online play mode would be something to hold against this game. It’s kinda like Rock Band 3 or even smash bros, just playing it with friends in real life is someone that can’t be replicated through online play…
Although I do agree that if Harmonix incorporated it, it would have been awesome! I’m thinking like a Dance Crew Battle mode. Like you and your “posse” feel like taking on other people, whether it’s another group of friends or random people, you can do this mode! The Kinect can also send either stills or some video between the players, so you’ll know when you get served! Of course, Harmonix’s motto is “Innovate, then perfect”, so that could be something to look forward to with Dance Central 2.
Awesome review, Joe! If I get my hands on a Kinect, this is a must buy for me. Now, if you excuse me, I need to send Harmonix an email regarding this awesome idea.
i play my games on a projector so i dont think id be able to even use the kinect oh well saves me money
Lets see what they do for a sequel. Hopefully they improve on it drastically.
Chips. Now I want a 360, a kinect and Dance Central. OFF TO SELL A LIVER!
You know… this review really illustrates what I think is the difference between hardcore and casual gamers.
On a technical level, the game is missing a number of features that could have improved it, had some design choices that didn’t make sense (workout mode), and had a handful of other flaws that keeps it from being a 8 or higher.
But from a pure entertainment point of view, it’s great fun, it’s something you can do with your friends, and it’s something you can keep coming back to – multiplayer or not – and enjoy for a long time after you’ve just played through it once.
I’m still not sold on a $150 price tag, but this is a really strong push for it. If there’s a price drop or a sale somewhere, or a few other really strong games that come out, I’ll probably pick it up, but even for a good game it’s hard for me to justify $150 for ONE good game.
I suck at dancing but I am totally willing to give this game a shot. It definitely looks hella fun. Is there goning to be DLC for this game?
This was the first review that got me interested in the kinect. I’m still going to wait a year or so to see if there’s going to be more titles worth my money.
I I would say this isn’t the game that would encourage me to buy kinect. I still wait.
Remember Harmonix’s motto Joe: Innovate and then perfect.
If I had to get a Kinect, it’d be for this game. Waiting on the sequel and for it to get much cheaper.
Phil Collins’s song “I can’t Dance” applies to my situation, and quite frankly, this is just one game that if I even tried to play at my jouse, my parents would cheese it up to make me regret it. As for th soundtrack, I don’t know, mean, got a pretty good set of headphones that can stretch, so I can feel the bass to em. Still good review, though even if I had a kinect, I may pass this up.
OMG I WANT A KINECT SO BADLY!!!!!!!
I suppose you know what will come in Dance Central two! I suppose the first generation kinect games are going to be lacking until the game designers get a better feel for it. I’d say give it a little bit of time before the really polished games come out.
Hey, with your new moves, maybe you’ll be able to beat “The French One” at a Dance-Off!!
Throwing that out there.
Joe actually made me want to do something that equates to a workout for once. That’s hard to do.
wow, first thing i noticed was that the audio was crazy high, i had to turn the speakers down to 7/100 before my ears stopped bleeding, a good review i do wish you would have used some more time discussing the soundtrack as that is a very important part of this game, and having looked over it myself it was less than half the songs i would actually listen and shake mah booty to, and while i do realize they couldn’t really include any of the genres i listen too (jazz and punk) since they are not affiliated with dancing, i would have liked some techno to mix it up some more.
these complaints clearly points out that the game is not for me, and i wouldn’t have known that from your review, but as i said, other than that it was a good review, very entertaining and disturbing^^.
Ah good point, ya, the soundtrack was average, but the danced made it stellar fun – even the crappy songs have good routines.
yo joe hay man this game is ok but if you like then you like it but i do not like it its ok its not all that
Yeah, the songs look awesome. by the way, you and your friends are awesome dancers Joe, I’d like to get this game, but IT”S TOO FRICKEN EXPENSIVE, my parents won’t buy it, and my brother hates the game…and he’s 13.
But I WILL find some way to get the money and buy the game myself, I WILL DANCE. ^_^
Thanks for the review
-SmilieChick20 AKA Cynthia
It’s not about being scared, metal fans don’t dance… we mosh!!!
so want a kinnect to play this it looks like a great work out.
Dance Central is not my type of game
damn now i want kinect……….DAMN YOU ANGRY JOE
Ah, the review we’ve all been waiting for. It seems just as fun as you say, but like most everyone else, I won’t be getting a Kinect just for it.
only get it if i win the kinect :p
Wait, if you don’t have a Wii, how are you able to compare it to Just Dance or are you just assuming that’s how the game works? Tsk tsk, Joe.
I played Just Dance at PAX, and several friends of mine own the game. No need for tisk tisking yet!
My group of friends all head down to Best Buy to play this ever since the release . This game is great but as you said couldn’t sell the peripheral. Should there be a second game or a big drop in kinects price I will really have to fight the urge to buy one. I forced a friend to play it today infront of the crowd and he seemed to enjoy himself. A crowd makes the game all the more fun when everybody can laugh and dance along . The free style replays do make me look like an idiot because of terrible dance skills .
So more or less they shot out what was essentially a demo disc for Dance Central 2, with how bare bones it is. From what Joe is saying it is a high quality demo though.
This was a good review, covering all the flaws and strengths nicely.
I only wish that the names of the song were included in the credits or some such, but not really a detractor.
Thanks for making and putting this out Joe.
these r the sort of games that make me ashamed to not hav a 360
I sincerely hope that you will remember to still do some game reviews once you become a famous dance group. Awesome review, if it does not make people want to buy this game and the kinect I don’t know what will.
Awesome. I think that this is the kind of game the Kinect was designed for. This and workout apps
my buddy brought his kinect over along with a few games including this one. i was skeptical at first but holy crap! what a blast we had playing 2 player mode and just taking turns. deffinately a reason for me to purchase the kinect. Oh and joe i caught that little bit on the very end of the video…..very disturbing
Gee, lots I hope to win the contest comments. I would too…sept I’ll be honest, I’d use the new x-box 360 for sure but the Kinect and game…well…ebay.
TO HELL WITH THE CONTEST I HAVE A REASON TO GET XBOX AND XBOX KINECT NOW, I HAVE THE PERFECT GROUP TO PLAY THIS WITH AND WHEN DANCE CENTRAL 2 (HOPEFULLY WITH ONLINE VERSUS CAPABILITIES) COMES OUT I! WILL!! SERVE!!! THE!!!! J3!!!!!
BUT ONLY IF THEIR BRAVE ENOUGH TO TAKE UP MY CHALLENGE
YA HEAR THAT JOE THE CREATORS WILL DOMINATE J3!!!!!!
…I hope
oh joe
If nothing else, it definitely looks like the game you want to bust out for parties.
I also want to see if this ends up exploding into a franchise like Guitar Hero/Rock Band… better songs, DLC and everything.
…So will Joe be packing new dance moves for the TGWTG 3rd Anniversary dance video?
Hehe! That looks intensely fun. Bravo!
That’s what I’m friggen talkin’ about.
Hope future Kinect games can improve upon this.
He is right this game is so much fun. And if you don’t get it try it at your friends house it is worth a look. I saw the Michael Jackson experience at comic con. They were using the wii motes and that looked great it should be more fun on the kenict.
Hopefully Dance Central 2 will be better.
So is this how you and Benzaie going to settle your dance battle from now on
J3 (cube) in da house!
Fantastic! If I had a Kinect (or 360 for that matter) I’d pick this up. Definitely the next step up from DDR.
kinect doesn’t seem that great honestly.
that would be awesome if they make no controller shooter for it
I didn’t think that this would appeal to me, but I would definitely buy it if I had an Xbox 360 and Kinect. We have to hope that the multiplayer experience improves as they get used to developing for the Kinect, because this is a game that needs it.
This game is so fun! You just have to have the right friends, if not – its still just as great on your own!
Looks like a great party game, but party games don’t make expensive hardware worth buying, for me.
…winning it in a contest, though…I wouldn’t mind that…
man, seeing joe dance brightens up my day!
This makes me want to have this game
I’ll pass on this game… Unless of course I win the contest : )
Geez are all the effing comments like this lately? Do you guys have to make it so obvious?
They’re just hopeful.
Although, since the Joe-licked Kinect package isn’t part of the contest, can I have it?
No joe, there’s just to many haters in this world…
thank you joe. because i really want to be updated on how many points you all have on an hourly basis!… on a post about dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice review ( and nice moves ^^)
Will you be reviewing kinectimals Mr Joe? :3
how man points do you have joe cause i got 32
New Boys In Town = J3 LOL excellent review
This was the most interesting kinect game for me
I wanna play this! I hope I win this contest hahah
